This is related to the stickied thread about running RGR plug in via PlayOnMac. I did everything the instructions stated and things installed fine, however the Firefox program does not appear on the left hand side of the PlayOnMac screen where installed programs are supposed to appear. What did I do wrong here? Can anyone who has successfully done this help me out?

kirbmanboggle : Were you ever able to get this working on your mac? If not, do you know anyone else that can help Dragonessa?

I don't have a mac or I'd try to give advice but I thought maybe I could help round some up.

Shadow53 : Any advice when you log back on the next time?

This was only a suggestion.

The person who wrote that did it as a guide for Linux.
The steps may not be all the same for Mac, but I have no way to verify this myself.

I don't know anyone else who has been able to make the RGR plug in work on Mac via WINE or any equivalent program. I really feel a Mac version of the plug in would be fantastic though - because there are Mac/Linux users here that don't have access to a PC but want a way to play N64 and PlayStation and other games the plug in is necessary for without clogging their computers up with emulators.

Would there be a way to perhaps raise some funds or something to get a Mac version of the plug in made in future?

There are a lot of things that need to be updated before we could even consider making a version of the plugin for Mac/Linux.

The emulators for example are in desperate need of an update.

vanelan :
Oh really? How do those get updated out of curiosity? I thought David was the one who took care of all that stuff. I applaud him for all the work he's done so far on the site. I've never seen another site like this anywhere else on the Internet that's so well organized/maintained.
Would the emulators be the only thing that needs updating? Or do other things get updated as well? I've always wondered how a site like this runs. Its so cool that you can play all these games in one place! I just wish I could at least play the GBA games without needing the plug in because a lot of my favorite games (Pokémon Sapphire for example) are on GBA.

Updating the emulators is kinda a big thing.

The way the plugin works, it does a sort of integrity check on the files.
Since there hasn't been an update to the plugin for quite some time, there have been many updates since the release.

As far as I know, the emulators can't be manually updated without failing that check at which point the files would be replaced or may cause the plugin to simply not work.

Dragonessa :
thephantombrain :

I don't own a Mac either, so I'm ballparking here based on the interface for PlayOnLinux. Try this:
Click on Configure.
Select the virtual drive you installed Firefox and Vizzed RGR into.
Under the "General" tab, click the button that says "Make a new shortcut from this virtual drive"
Find Firefox, select it, then click "Next".
Either click "Cancel" or select "I don't want to make another shortcut" then click Next.
Firefox should now be in your programs list.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

EDIT:

I went through the process again of installing Firefox and RGR in PlayOnLinux. The install went fine and the Firefox shortcut appeared like it should. I did find, however, that the RGR plugin itself did not load when I opened Pokemon Stadium 2. Turns out you need to enable the plugin by clicking the icon that looks like a Lego brick in the top left by the URL bar, then selecting "Allow now" or "Allow now and remember", then click OK and refresh the page using f5 or Ctrl-R (since there is no refresh button on the page). Then the game loaded like normal.

vanelan: I think I will need the tutorial reopened so I can add this in and clean it up a little bit and make it easier to follow.

kirbmanboggle: Was one of these issues the one you had on your Mac? If it was something else I think it would be considered on topic for you to share the problem here.
