5/11/16 Update:
You can switch between controller type with Ctrl + Shift + 1 (number key), so the info below isn't necessary.

Ape Escape requires you to have dual analog controls. This is the only game which required it as far as I know, so for that reason the RGR Plugin is set to use by default a standard PS1 controller configuration, but it can be changed on your end to use a Dual Analog configuration.

This has to be done while no game window is open. Go to this file path on your computer:

    Windows 8, 7, Vista - C:ProgramDataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-*****Mednafen_new

Windows XP - C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataVizzedVizzedRgrPluginUser-*****Mednafen_new

    Or go to:

Start Menu > All Programs > Vizzed Retro Game Room > Open Plugin Data Folder > User-***** > Mednafen_new

(replace ***** with your user id)

In that folder, open the configuration file "mednafen-09x.cfg"

You'll need to search for psx.input.port1.

Open a search box with Ctrl and F keys, then where it says "Find what:" type in psx.input.port1 and tap Enter. You'll see "psx.input.port1 gamepad" change gamepad to dualanalog and then save the file with Ctrl and S keys.

Close the configuration file and set the keys by double clicking the game window.

It could be a number of things and I'm not sure without looking at your configuration file since the file has about 7,000 lines of code.

I have a file uploaded which has the DualShock already set up:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/upload/files/mednafen_09x.zip

Extract that and place the file in the folder listed in 1st post.

Let me know if it works.

tRIUNE : I personally would recommend that people use dualanalog instead of dualshock.

With dualanalog, the analogs are always on. With dualshock, you need an additional button to enable and disable analog which seems unnecessary.

I also noticed that with the dualshock setup, it asks to set extra rapid fire buttons when reconfiguring the controls.

vanelan : Good catch. That does make more sense to have it set to dualanalog. I've edited the OP.
