Dive into the world of Underground racing. Become king of the city, and exact revenge on the person who tried to kill you in Underground 1. You get to start out with a nice Nissan, but you need to turn it in, after you do some races to get a little more cash. You can get three cars at the beginning, and it really depends on your wants, style, speed, or handling. I found that it is often easier to choose handling, but I am more of a drifter.
Although the game has good graphics, it isn't spectacular. The game doesn't sell because of it's graphics, but rather the name of Need for Speed and the racing aspect. A milder racing game, but not like the controlled environments of track racing, this is a good mix between the run from police, and normal racing games. The cars react quite well, and they seem to even work perfectly, even with the okay graphics. Despite the normal graphics, it is still fun to make a car look like the one you want. Because the game has good graphics but not the best, I gave it an 8/10.
Sound, the game has a soundtrack, but I never got into the songs. I turned the music off, because it wasn't my style. But that isn't what makes this a game with good sound. It's the car sounds, not only are they accurate, they have a great deep roar, after you tune the cars, the screeching tires, and the cracking glass when you hit a car, or a wall. And for those reasons I gave it a high score. I just loved the sounds in the game. For good and realistic sounds I give it a 9/10
The game is really addictive, but only because I really got into the story. I loved to drift and tune my car. Challenge random racers, and you even have a semi-open-world feel to the game. But it isn't really the story that drives the game, but the thrill of racing through the streets. The Fast and Furious feel, except without the police being a factor. EA did a good job at making the game really fun to play. For the cool things you can do I give it a 10/10.
Story is not that great. But racing games don't really focus on the story that much, which makes it okay, but only for a racing game. I would have to say, that if you want a story driven game, look elsewhere. Although there is limited story, that doesn't make the game not fun to play. But since there isn't much story, I am giving this a very low rating. Because there isn't really a story, I give it a low 6/10.
Depth is okay, but they want you to stick to the "story" races. You can challenge racers, tune your car, and race. But the depth really stops there, making it not very good, actually the depth is worse than the story, which makes it pretty bad, but considering that the games price has dropped much over the years, it is still worth it's price, if you can find it. Because there is only limited story, I give it a record low of 4/10.
The game isn't really that hard, I mean, you go around and race, that's it. But after a while, the length of races gets longer, and the enemies get harder. Not to mention the street drift towards the end. Which is very difficult. I got a 100,000 point drift, but ruined it because of the weird turn. But still it was fun, and at times hard. Which is a good mixture for a racing game. Because it was sometimes hard, and sometimes easy it gets an 8/10.
Overall, I really like this game and that is why I gave it a 9.7/10. This is a really good racing game. Dive into the world of Underground racing.
