About a month ago, I was playing the Klonoa game for the Wii. I planned on getting rid of it anyways for my own reasons, but when I saw the end, I was mortified. Klonoa seemed like the ultimate kid's game. I mean, come on, dream world? The worlds were both beautiful and interesting, and the music for them was great. The gameplay was a lot of fun. It's the only one that I can think of besides Super MarioBros 2 that you throw enemies at other enemies to defeat them. But the ending to me was simply awful. What child would really want to see that? At the end of the game, Hewpoe reveals himself as the prince of the moon kingdom...fine. However, he then proceeds to tell his best friend something that shocked, even me! Hewpoe was not really friends with Klonoa for life, and he did not live in Phantomile all his life. It seems that the prince of the moon kingdom used deception and put memories in Klonoa's head so that he would think he had been there all his life and help Phantomile. Well, I guess this means that they are going to be separated...It might not have been so awful at the end if they did not capitalize on the drama so much. Klonoa doesn't believe his friend; gets angry and yells over and over that he is lying. Hewpoe tries to explain that there is not much time for Klonoa, and that he will be pulled back to his real world soon. But, Klonoa says he isn't going anywhere and you can't make him either. Suddenly, a warp hole entered and starts to pull klonoa away. No! Klonoa reaches out for his friend, Hewpoe grabs on trying to hold on to his friend just a little longer. The scene ends with Klonoa being ripped away and the two friends yelling for each other. The end. Yeah...great story right? Just what every kid wants to see. Yeah, namco failed on this, one in my opinion. So, do you know of any games like this? They lead up the entire time having you feeling good--or at least decent--and then drop the bomb on you.

Tales of abyss has to be one for me...I mean it had a great storyline in the game. And the unexpected happens. The main guy something happens to him and his lover ends up seeing him again. But actually not seeing the REAL him if you get what I mean. There are a lot of great games out there and then the ending puts you off if it doesn't go the right way. Another is onimusha warlords. Now I loved the game but, it was unfair of how they ended it making the other ones after it. Which are not really good games to me...and then Samanosuke reappears in another game, but the storyline is different. I didn't really like that game. It seriously does put you off....

FOr me, the ending that really killed me was True Crime NY. It's one of those games when at the end you find out that the people you were friends with, or even considered family were the ones behind all of the bad stuff.

In this game, the police guys mentor was killed while they were at work, but at the end it's shown that he staged everything and that he was behind some mastermind criminal orginization.

Oh man, Mass Effect 3.

I was one of the people who had all 3 games, I had gotten the super-deluxe-delicious-whatever box set of the final version, and could not wait to see all my storylines ended in a satisfactory way. It was just too much for Bioware to handle though, and admittedly, they boxed themselves in a corner with so many loose ends to tie up.

But that ending to the series. It takes the cake. So.. lackluster, so bleak, so horrible. I played ME3 once through, and that was it.

To this day, I cannot even play singleplater ME3. I won't touch it. Dreams of playing through the whole series again from scratch, will not happen. That ending is such a buzzkill to me(the free dlc ending did not appease me). Fortunately, the ME3 multiplayer wasn't awful, if quite tedious.

Ehh, Pokemon X and Y. By ending I don't mean the actual ending, but the ending of the Team Flare arc. Basically, there's this huge buildup to it. You're storming their base in this creepy, stonehenge like area, you capture the ancient Pokemon powering their machine, and you have this epic fight with their leader. In the end, he fires it off anyway, but nothing happens because there isn't enough power left, and then he just suddenly disappears.

At least for once the entire region applauds you for taking down such a threat, but Team Flare's downfall was really unsatisfying, compared to ones like Team Galactic, which had their leader stuck in a pocket dimension and the rest of the team scrambling to figure out what to do after their plans fell apart. Team Flare just sort of... gave up in the aftermath, while most teams lasted much longer.
Teams Plasma and Rocket lasted a whole two years after their initial game before finally being taken down for the last time. Team Flare was pathetic and the end of their arc is the reason why.

When I was a kid, Yoshi's Story. I skipped school to play it on release and, well, I beat it within a single hour. My disappointment factor was high, mainly because I was expecting a lengthy game like Yoshi's Island. It still has plenty of replay value, but my standards were just high.

Nowadays, I don't really see games as disappointing.. Unless it hits me so hard in the face that it's a complete letdown. (Assassin's Creed 3)

I'd have to say the Dragon Age games.... Only because you literally aren't able to do anything afterward, the game just pretty much stops. Other than that I enjoy the story line to it, and I mean I guess it ends how it's supposed to but still.... xD Maybe I'm just really picky or something. I just enjoy going around after the storyline is played through like you're able to do in Skyrim and Pokemon games and such.

squishywilleatursoul :
I hate it when a game ends like this...

Nintendo. You dissapointed me with your Mario & Luigi endings.
It dissapointed me that Nintendo made it that it doesn't have an after story line.
To answer this question why they did that, I asked them on a e-mail. They told me that it wasn't their decision ;-;

I'd say Mega Man 4. Of all of the twists they could churn up, of all the possibilities for a decent ending....and they go with Wily escaping last-minute through a back door. A BACK DOOR. If that's not lazy AND disappointing, i don't know what isn't.

It's something to commend, too, because no other game has angered be quite like that.
