You may already have heard this, but some of my strongest video game background is in the good old days of arcade Ps1 collections. Bosconia, Pacman, Moon Patrol and the like. If there are any arcade fans out there--there must be--I ask that you let us all know here. You can tell us who your favorite arcade company was and is. What your favorite game was and stuff like that. Bring challenges even! This is the one stop for arcade fans!
My favorite arcade game creator is namco, the bulk of my favorites come from them. Dig Dug, PacMan, Xevious, Groboda, Galaga, Bosconia, and way more! My favorite arcade game? Hmm...tough toss up among good ole' PacMan, Bosconia, SkyKid, and Galaga '88. I'd have to say Pac Man. He's a lot of fun to play and has had the most spin offs of any namco arcade game. I do have a score that I am quite proud of Bosconia 480,000 maybe a little more. I think that was with 5 lives and bonuses at every 80000? maybe. Wave the arcade flag, my fellow Vizzites!

I never knew much about arcade games, nor was I fan of them.. until I started doing staff work for vizzed. I was hired to help test MAME games and add content to them. I've been doing that for 2 years off and on (Wow.. I can't believe it's been that long!!!).

I have come to enjoy them quite a bit. I love Bubble Bobble purely for the sake that a good friend (here on vizzed) and I enjoy playing it often.  If you check the comments on my game profile, you're likely to find tons of little jewels.  There are some games where I comment stuff like "This is probably one of my favorites" or "I'd like to go back and keep playing this one."

They are too numerous to list here, but I thought maybe you might find some you like by looking through.  (or by looking in my vizzed game collection, though a few are listed there for staff work reasons.)

Namco definitely has a more infamous repertoire.

I've been around to see the big arcade scene of Pac Man, Donkey Kong, so I know what that was like.

My all time favorite arcade games were Rally-X, Elevator Action, Tempest and Kid Niki - Radical Ninja

FaithFighter : *reaveals self from darkness* I enjoy elevator action, dig dug and xevious. I may be young, but I do sure like the Namco classics. And I have to give a shout out to rolling thunder. I liked that arcade game too.

I think my dad was the one who first told me about Dig Dug way back many years ago and I tried it out and I liked it. Along with that game, my favorites would be Pac man and Galaga, those three are all epic classics, though those are also the only ones that I had really played.

My favourite arcade game is easily Bosconian. It's simple, but it's fun as heck.

I also love Bubble Bobble, Pac-Man, Galaga, and Rally-X. I also played Donkey Kong and Tempest, but i could never get into those.

I love playing games in arcades! Too bad there aren't many left out there...

My favorite is definitely Mega Man: The Power Fighters. Fun, fast paced, multiplayer action. What more could you want in an arcade?

hellno163 : I kind of thought that most of those were super nintendo platforming or fighting games. I was talking about games that originally could be found at many arcades. But if I am incorrect-since I am not all knowing about video games--feel free to let me know.

Woot!

Through most of the 1990's, I worked at a video game arcade called "Aladdin's Castle," at a mall called "Parmatown," in Parma, OH, USA.

I saw the coming about of Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Primal Rage, X-Men.  I shot so many baskets at the moving backboard basketball game, my arms still hurt.

Also, I got to see what I consider the greatest age of pinball machines, (The Addams Family; Theatre of Magic; Indiana Jones; Medieval Madness; Tales of the Arabian Nights;  etc.)

I feel lucky to have seen and enjoyed it, because I highly doubt arcades will ever make a true comeback.  It was the last era of epic arcade entertainment.

Singelli : Breakout is a great game in my opinion. Namco had a clone that I really enjoyed. It was called Cutie Q--wierd name, but fun game. I also had the adventure version of the Breakout game that was on the Play Station 1. I loved that game. I also played the pong adventure but did not like it as much; although it was a lot bigger. Other arcade games made into adventures that I enjoyed playing (both versions) include Centipede, Q*Bert, Missile Command, Asteroids, PacMan (of course) and frogger. Oh, and I forgot about Space Invaders!

FaithFighter : I think I could play Breakout games or hours and never get tired of them.  If you like them so much, you should try alphabounce.com.... seriously... the BEST breakout game, and it's practically endless! love it, love it, love it!  The only problem is that you get 3-6 games a day.

MeatAndPotatoes : We're close to the same age and I have to tell you that while I was reading your post, I became slightly envious that you got to work in one of the old school arcades before they disappeared.

I went to what passes for an arcade now for my son's 12 birthday party today. I really wasn't that impressed. There was a Simpsons pinball machine that I decided to feed some tokens to - it was pretty fun.

Its no secret that my favorite arcade game is Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I also have fond memories of Paperboy, Elevator Action, Pole Position and Xenophobe. MAME games that I discovered through Vizzed are Outfoxies and Ninja Spirit. Also, a little known fact about the MAME version of Super Mario Bros. is that the warps are less extensive. At the end of 1-2 you can only warp to 2 and if my memory serves there is no warp Vine from 4-2 to 6, 7 and 8. So, you basically have to play every level of the MAME version to ever see world 8. That makes the game worth a play if you're looking for a SMB challenge.

Singelli : Believe it or not I've never played the MAME version. Is it comparable?

FaithFighter : What challenge?
