I personally feel that Into the Storm had been a great movie. I had seen the movie towards the end of the summer in standard 2D, however, I'm sure that if I saw it in 3D or even IMAX, that I would have been blown away and that it would have been one of the best disaster movies ever. I really liked the movie, though I have read many bad reviews about it, though it has been a commercial success, grossing more than three times it's budget, which I guess is pretty good. I feel that the movie had done a great job with casting, the main cast included actors such as Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Collins, Matt Walsh, and Nathan Kress, all who have a large background when it comes to TV and film. I am actually a huge fan of Nathan Kress because of his work with Nickleodeon and this was his first big theatrical film, and I feel he did a great job with it. I actually think that all the actors have put on some great performances, even if all of them were drowned out by the nature of the disasters. As for the story, it's pretty simple, but it's also pretty bland. For the most part, the story is the reason for all of the bad reviews because people thought that there was nothing in the story that's good really. I did like most of the story, because in a way the filmmakers followed in the footsteps of The Day After Tomorrow when it comes to the story, but put nowhere near the amount of the effort as that movie, instead opting to focus on the graphics more than the story. The main point of the story is about everybody trying to escape from a band of deadly tornadoes that destroy their town. I do like the storyline that involves the life of the head stormchaser, especially with what happens towards the end, and there are a few other scenes that pertain to the other side of the plot, but other than that, the story isn't all that good. Now the graphics are what makes the movie so spectacular. As I had mentioned, if the movie was in 3D, it would have been perfect. Everything is so clear that you can see every little piece of each tornado. There are so many effects that make each tornado come to life, and the way that the damage is portrayed, is remarkable. The movie had cost 50 million dollars to make, and I am pretty sure that more than half of that budget was used to make the wasteland of the town that was left after the tornado. In some scenes, all you could see was destruction, and when you weren't seeing destruction, you were seeing disater, that's how much of an effect the graphics had on the movie. Honestly, if the graphics hadn't been so epic, I would have never gone to see the movie. I had read all the reviews about how the story and such were bad and I wasn't going to see it, but then I read a review that talked about the actual tornadoes and the graphics and most of the reviews said that it would be at least another 10 or so years before another movie comes along with better graphics, and they were right, it's going to be years since I see another non IMAX movie that looks better. Next is the music, which is one of the reasons that the tornadoes looked so dangerous. The soundtrack was compoed by Brian Tyler, who is famous for doing the music for all sorts of action and suspense movies. He is known for doing the music for four of the Fast and Furious movies, as well as The Expendables, and Overall, this movie is only going to be for movie goers who want to see a ton of high adrenaline effects. You do not ant to see this movie for the story or the acting, you want the super powered effects and the amazing music, you want to be almost on the edge of your seat while watching it, and I'm pretty sure if the movie had been in IMAX, or even in Prime with vibrating seats, that would be the case. I am going to give this movie an 85 and if you love disaster flicks, I suggest that you watch this.
