For me it's always been a mix of good type and good moves, and good stats don't hurt either.

This is kind hard, you didn't specify much but judging by the choices you mean the what's more important for training a good pokemon... in which case good stats beat all... that's not saying moves are unimportant (smeargle) and good typing is a sloppy second (sableye), but stats can make or break a pokemon.

I link to choose my Pokémon based on type, to round out my team. I try my best to counter weaknesses, and strengthen my team as a whole.

I like to choose my Pokemon based on how good they look. I know, how shallow of me. I don't really care about type (I put my grass pokemon up against fire pokemon because why not), nor do I care about the stats. The moves? Yeah, but I don't pick pokemon based on their moves unless they can use HMs.

For example, I have a Skarmory because it looks awesome, but I have a Zigzagoon and a Wingull just because they can use Cut and Fly.

Super Mega Man 568: Good Stats are always the best for a good Pokemon to me. Well let's say that if I have a level 54 Vulpix, with excellent stats, beating a level 66 Victreebel with a powerful Fire Blast. It will definitely be a knock out yay :3!! ALL HAIL BABIES :3!! XD, anyway I sometimes give Protein, Calcium to some of my Pokemon. Well good stats can be excellent for Pokemon, especially during their baby forms :3.

Good stats are mainly what I look at whenever I decide to catch a Pokemon or not. They are the main roots of your Pokemon with health, attack, defense, special attack, special defense, and speed which determines how your Pokemon functions in a Pokemon battle whether they can survive or not.

Any Pokemon can have the best moves and the best abilities but if they have bad stats to go with them, this makes them not being able to attack or defend themselves against an opposing Pokemon.

Since I am pretty competitive when it comes to pokemon, well distributed stats, good abilities, and a diverse movepool are what make or break it for me. I also pay attention to the typing of the pokemon and how many resistances and weaknesses they have, for instance, I would much prefer a dragon type over a bug type because they are naturally more powerful and have less weaknesses. When it comes down to pokemon, I like to breed everything I possibly can because breeding gives me the most control over the pokemon I want, the natures, moves, IVs and whatever else. I could really go on about the things I value the most in a pokemon, but all that really matters to me is their type, moves, stats and abilities. That is pretty much how you categorize the usefulness of a pokemon competitively. I also really like a pokemon with a good design, but I don't require it if everything else about the pokemon is good.

Super Mega Man 568 : Interesting you would bring this topic up. To me, it doesn't really matter. In order to properly make a good team, it depends on how you raise them in general. I mean, in the series look at the way Ash trained his Pokemon. He didn't care about Nature, Type, Moves, etc. He just caught his Pokemon and trained them the way he did. When he first got Pikachu, did Pikachu ever listen to him? NO!!! Pikachu was disobedient to him for the first few episodes but, Ash NEVER GAVE UP!!!!

I have a few points to state that would train Pokemon:
1. Never give up - Like I have noted above, Ash never gave up on his Pokemon. He trained them well to where they are stronger than normal Pokemon. There are several cases where people just give up on training their Pokmon because:
  a. They're too weak (referring to Paul - Pokemon Gen. 4) - Paul always strived to get the strongest Pokemon. He always turned away from the weak Pokemon and stuck with the strong. It doesn;t matter whether the Pokemon is strong or not. It's about how you train them.
  b. Useless - Yes, i admit, I have called a Pokemon useless (Magikarp). I shouldn't do that. I should just train Pokemon regardless of them being useless or not because how would you know if they would be better later on or not?

2. Friendship - Pokemon should never be used as tools of war. You should always be kind to your Pokemon. Being kind to your Pokemon will result in a good friendship with them. Being friends with them mean they will be more likely to listen to you. If you treat them the wrong way, do you think they will listen to you then? I doubt it. So you should always treat your Pokemon as you would a close friend because Pokemon are there to protect you when you're in trouble.

3. Unity - This is a very important part of training your Pokemon. You and your Pokemon should always be in sync with one another in a battle. Being in sync with one another will ensure an easy win for you in battle. Look at how Ash is united with his Pokemon (especially Pikachu, whom is with him through thick and thin). Unity is a key thing to winning battles.

This is probably not on the topoc of the Pokemon games lol but just think of if Pokemon were real and how you would train them in real life. Yes, I know Pokemon is a game but, I'm thinking about if they were real. You should treat like you do your pets or friends.

Well, I have said my point. For now, I will take my leave. good day to y'all

I think the best way to train your Pokemon is to give it love and nurture it.

For as it is your animal and you both want excellent health over all you wouldn't want to keep pushing your Pokemon till it can not no longer function anymore.

Like Super Mega Man 568, I think type and moves are the most important thing in a Pokémon. I chose type because I honestly think that if I have a fire Pokémon I can win any battle xD . A close third would have been stats, but only for HP and Attack. I don't really care about the other stats so that's why it's not so high on my list. Hope you enjoyed my answer .

I think stats are more important. Because you could have a Psychic type, but have it's defense extremely low. Then, the pokemon would be useless to you all because it dies within one turn.

The most important attribute a pokemon can have in my mind is great stats because a Pokemon with bad stats is useless while pokemon with really high stats are super useful and can make progressing through the game much easier.

The stats have to be good and the moves have to be good.

Stats have to be good so that the pokemon can stand its own in battle and take out other pokemon.

The pokemon has to have a wide variety of moves so that it will be able to cover up it's weaknesses.

And for nature, nature comes into affect with stats.

I think the stats have to be good, and the Pokemon has to be able to evolve into a big sized Pokemon. I don't know why, but that seems to be what I always go for.

The most important thing I look for, for making a good Pokemon. I would normally look at the Pokemon types because the types and the levels can have a major role if you're going to win or lose in your battle, that's why before I go to a Pokemon gym, I make sure I have a Pokemon with a type and move that gym is weak to.
