So, is anybody planning on seeing this movie? I am going to see it the day after it comes out, and so far, I'm expecting it to be nowhere near what I expected. What I mean is that I have never eead the book because I thought I would hate it. Every time I heard the name, I always thought it was one of those random school books and that it would bore me to death. Then, I saw the trailer a few weeks ago and I thought, That's the movie?? it actually looks good, and then the next time I saw the trailer I decided that I wanted to see it.

From the looks of the trailer, it looks like nothing that I would have thought it would be like, so would I be in for a surprise? Is it actually good?

Good question .. is it even at the cinemas yet? I might check it out, I'll check out a review of the book because I like to read.
but I will check the trailer too.

Some of it was pretty action-ish, from memory of the trailer.

First, congrats on the 80000th thread (talking about the url)!

About the movie, I don't know. I've seen too many post-apocalyptic movies to count, and modern ones usually don't tickle my fancy. I'm also not a fan of movies adapted from young-adult books, unless we're talking about HP or The Hunger Games. But who knows, I may see it just for the fact that I get to go to the cinema again.

10/10 IGN ~ Didn't get to watch but it said it had the hype it needed.

In all honesty, these movies these days based on books are generally to milk everything it's based off. I refuse to watch movies based on books I actually like (I haven't read the maze runner books) because I don't want the book(s) to be butchered. To answer your primary question, no I will not see it in theatres or probably at all.

Just saw The Maze Runner. I have never read the books before though. Personally I thought the movie was a mashup of Cube, Lord of the Flies, and a very toned down version of Aliens vs Predator. With that in mind, I didn't think the story was original at all. There are so many aspects of the story that seems to have been ripped straight out of other stories. I am not so naive to think it was original but I didn't let that stop me from being amazingly entertained. This is a very entertaining movie. I am pretty critical so in the beginning since I was telling myself how unoriginal the story was I started giving nicknames to most of the characters that appeared often.

Thomas = 7th heaven
Minho = Chanman
Gally = NFL
Theresa = Twilight
Chuck = Dobby
Alby = Will smith lol
There was also one guy I called fat albert but I forgot what his name was.

Anyways after I was done belittling these guys in my head while next to my gf, I started to really enjoy the movie because I just wanted to know more. 7th Heaven seems so hasty but in the end I liked his character. I did not like the ending and I will not give it away but it kind of didn't make sense on how Gally just appears so that was kind of unsightly. Otherwise, this movie is better than The Hunger Games. THG is crap. They need a lesson on being Rambo. Rambo would definitely win the hunger games over and over. I know the story isn't about winning the hunger games but pretty much it is just a babied Rambo with a different plot. The Maze Runner is much more realistic, people aren't just passionate and want to save others because they are all disneyed up inside. There is something more...true to life.

I just finished the second book in the Maze Runner series. The books are like freakin' amazing. So of course I really, really want to see the movie. I may see it some time this month. Hopefully it's good!

The movie was great, but the experience itself was breathtaking. It was simply the best theatre that I have ever been in. The screen was huge and there were colorful lights all over.

The seats were the best part. Every seat was 100% leather and was fully elecrtonically controllable which means that through the use of a touchscreen, you can raise the foot pads, recline the seat and do more. At times, it's as if you're lying down while watchjing the movie on the giant screen.

There's also a headboard behind each seat that raises a foot abopve the seat so nobody ever sees anybody else either in front of them or behind them.

The seats were also very sensative and therough the use of the 100 speakers, the entire chair vibrates at almost all points thoruihght the movie, and it feels awesome. The friends I was with, as well as many others in the theatre actually stayed in our seats during the credits and 10 minutes after while workers cleaned because the place was so awesome.

So just to add on this, I did read the first general section of the book awhile after they get into the maze, and I equally do not like the movie and the book. It feels like they're trying to pull to many references for us to get. I understand the Greek Minos tale in it, but there are so many its desperate to show off it seems. And dont get me started on the sla ng.

BluemageKyle : I'm sorry, if I was supposed to spot references, I don't think I did a good job.
