Do you guys play Stealth games? I have recently tried getting into them as I wanted to try out a new type of game. I have recently started the Hitman series of games, but I don't do too well with sneaking... I have tried to find a sale on the Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell series, but have found no luck, but enough about that. To the real topic of the thread, do you guys ever play stealth games, and if you do, what games do you play? Do you consider yourself to be good at them?

I don't consider myself to be good, as I have a hard time being sneaky, but I think if I work at it, I may be able to pull it off.

Hitman, death to spies, splinter cell, commandos, i love stealth strategy's. Bloodmoney is one of my all time favourites. Best in the genre anyway.

I love stealth games. In particular, Metal Gear Solid and Manhunt. They're two of my favorite franchises.
ALSO, Hitman is fantastic. In particular, Blood Money. That's the best one in the series. Absolutely perfect.
Stealth gameplay is so unique and tense and difficult, I love it. What games do you play?

I recommend Metal Gear Solid. If you can find a cheap copy of the HD Collection for the PS3, Vita, or 360, then by all means, do so. It is a really great series.

When it comes to stealth games, I would say that I am not all that great. I make too many mistakes, and I usually end up suffering from impatience. I enjoy them regardless.

"Metal Gear" Pick a Number.
Am I Good? Okay I guess.

"Tenchu" Pick a Number.
Am I Good? Fair I guess.

"Batman Arkham" 1 and 2.
Am I Good? ....Needed to Look Up a Clue for the "Mr. Freeze" Boss Fight.
Otherwise? I'm Average I suppose.

Many Stealth games have a grading system after completing a level or the whole game. I guess I do good with them. I do not take notes on my score any more after the year 2004.

The times I really shine with stealth is when it is optional.
("Fallout New Vegas" is a nice example.)

I suppose the same could be said for anyone that has been playing the stealth games since the genre was born.
Was I good right away?
No.
Check out the "A.V.G.N." episode on Metal Gear.
Multiply that by 100 and you might get an Idea on how frustrating Metal Gear 2 (M.S.X.) was.
It took a couple of years for some of those puzzles to be solved. By anyone. That game has Morris Code, Temperature Key Cards, "Acrophobia Medicine Tricks", You name it.
That game required advice form everyone in town. (I'm getting off topic.)
Anyway.
I am certain you will do fine eventually.
"Practice makes perfect".

Good Luck To All.
Peace.

Some great stealth games are out there, one of my favorites is from Rockstar Games and it's Manhunt. I love the stealth, the sneaking, the executions, the gameplay, the story, the characters, etc. Sure it's not like some really in depth story, but it's dark, violent, and very well done. Sadly the sequel lacked a little bit, but was still fun.

I do, but only a few games. For example, i can't get into Assassin's Creed at all. However, i like the Hitman games and a few Tom Clancy games. Those titles are good plays for when I'm too lazy to play something more intensive.

Most stealth games are too hard for me to play, and far too linear.  I prefer to be able to do what I want and at a pace reasonable to my play style.  However, if I HAD to play an FPS, I'd much rather play a stealth game... not one where you just run out, guns blazing.

Singelli : Which stealth games have you played? Because one of the cool thing but most is that they are not linear... There are always multiple ways to take out your target.

Yes, I like quite a few, Tenchu, and Metal Gear, Monaco.
Given most games are about using force to overcome obstacles, its refreshing to feel the need to tread carefully around situations like a giant military base, or a well guarded casino.
I am not a fan of Assassins Creed, however.

I have played a few games with stealth in it. Thief is one I quite enjoy. I have also played meta gear Solid though I always get a massive jump whenever I am spotted. Assassin's Creed I sometimes use stealth but I only do if I need to. The earlier Harry potter games had quite a few stealth missons which annoyed me as a kid but I find them quite easy now.

darthyoda : I'll be honest with you in telling you that I can't remember WHICH stealth games I've played. However, I didn't exactly mean that you can only approach an enemy one way.  I meant that the game plot itself is really rigid and linear.  It's as though you're going through a story with no variations, and you just get to act out parts of that story.

It depends on your definition of stealth games. If Call of Duty counts, then yes. If Doom 3 counts, then yes again. I know Assassin's Creed should count, and I have played all the up to 3, but not the first one.
