I was against Minecraft for so long. I never played it, and called everyone that played it a nerd. One day, my friend got me to try it. I kind of enjoyed it, so I bought it on my Crapbox 360. I liked it somewhat, though it was not my favorite. I did play a lot, mainly online with my friends.

Graphics (7):

It is hard to rate the graphics in a game like Minecraft, because they are purposely crappy. They look really bad, everything is pixelated and square, but that is the style of the game. I decided to rate it a 7 because I am not a fan of the graphics at all, but they do fit in with the theme of the game very very well. I wish that they made it look a little better. I understand that the graphics are supposed to look bad, but they are too bad in my opinion. Everything lacks detail and is very square and pixely.

Sound (7):

The music in Minecraft annoys me. I don't know why, it just does. It is too peaceful for me, I guess. I don't really think it fits the game very well. The sound effects, on the other hand, fit the game perfectly. They don't sound the best, but they are perfect for the style of the game. They still feel "retro", but they are a little better quality than the graphics are. I love the sound it makes when you are digging up dirt, or the clanging sound it makes when your tool breaks. I rated the sound a 7 because while the music annoys me, I think that the sound effects are pretty good.

Addictiveness (8):

I was somewhat addicted to this game I guess. I didn't play it non-stop, but I did spend quite a bit of time playing it. It was always more of a casual thing to me, not exactly what I would call addictive. It does get a lot of people hooked though, I know that. It does have a lot of addictive qualities in it, but it is also lacking a little bit. For me, it is the fun aspect that is missing. I do not find the game to be as fun as other games, which is why I was not as addicted to it as some of my friends were. How likely am I to play this game again? Not very likely. I might play it once or twice, but I doubt I will ever get into it again.

Story (N/A):

Many Minecraft enthusiasts will argue that there is a story in Minecraft, but there really isn't. The only thing that you might consider a story is that there is technically and end to it when you beat the Ender Dragon. A lot of people argue that the story is that you survive for as long as you can, while stocking up on items and weapons, and then go on a quest to beat the ender dragon, but I do not consider that a story.

Depth (10):

This game is literally endless. Ok, technically it isn't, but from a logical view it is. You have tons of area to do pretty much whatever you want. Since there is no end (except defeating the Ender Dragon I guess), the depth is (pretty much) unlimited. There is so much that you can do. You can build a house, fight hostile mobs, try to befriend animals, make a farm, mine for precious metals and jewels, etc. There is so much to do in Minecraft, it is almost impossible to do it all. This game has more depth than any other game that I have ever played, which is why I gave it a perfect 10 out of 10 in the depth category.

Difficulty (5):

I wouldn't exactly say that Minecraft is difficult. There are different difficulties that you can play on, but they are all relatively easy. Once you have a house built and a few basic supplies, it is pretty easy to survive. It is hard to rate the difficulty in a game like Minecraft because there are no rules, no set things that you have to do, and no path that you have to follow. You can do whatever you want, making the difficulty vary depending on which activities you chose to do. I decided to rate the difficulty as neutral as I can, so I gave it a 5. That seemed most fair to me.

In short, Minecraft is a somewhat fun game to play. The graphics and sound are awful, but they are purposely made that way. The fit the theme of the game perfectly. It is a somewhat addictive game, you may get hooked or you may not. There is no story, it is just about surviving. The depth is pretty much endless, there is so much that you can do. It is not exactly a hard game, but it is hard to rate the difficulty because there is no set path. I think it is a pretty cool game, but I don't think it is worth the $20. I do not recommend
downloading it.

That's my review! Thanks for reading and please let me know what you think! If you liked it, please be sure to go to the game page and rate it! Thanks again for reading! See you next time!

tgags123 : Nice job on this one, tgags I totally agree with everything you said about Minecraft.  I wish it lived up to the hype, but it just doesn't in all areas.  I have it on my Kindle Fire and I rarely play it, but I can see how others can get addicted since there is so much to do in it. I've been waiting for a good Minecraft review to feature for the Xbox 360, so thanks very much for writing it. I appreciate your review!

This is a pretty dang good review on Minecraft. It's so hard to review a game so open ended like Minecraft, I enjoyed reading it. Well done, man.

Your opinion is so different then mine
I love the Graphics of Minecraft, I love the sounds and do like the music, it is very addictive, and the depth, yes, 10. However, not on the Xbox 360 and Ps3 version. You don't have a billion blocks wide like the PC to build, only about 1000.. Sadly.. Which should be a 9, but then again, it takes pretty long to be ready to defeat the Ender Dragon, so yeah, in some way it is 10..
As for the difficulty, I find the game single player hard on Normal... even Easy is hard for me, until I have a Animal Farm.. online it is easier, that yes.
But then again, your opinions are yours, and I totally respect your opinions. One main rule in the world: "Respect others their opinions." :3
But other then the ratings being different then mine, I did enjoy reading your review
It's pretty good, it's not THAT long, but it is pretty good. ~James

tgags123 : I'm a pretty big fan of Minecraft myself, though I like the app due to the touch controls. Really good review, considering Minecraft is so free and full of autonomy. I completely agree - great review!
