Sony delays Ratchet and Clank on Vita
Today, Sony stated a one liner on their blog that Ratchet and Clank Collection for the PS Vita is going to be delayed by a week. The game will now be released on July 29th 2014.
While this may not seem like a big deal, the game was supposed to come out today, July 22nd 2014.
Surely this caused a problem to those who awaited this game and went to their local retailers this morning just to buy the collection.
What would drive them to do this? They can't do any fixes since the release was the day they announced the delay, the game is already in stores.
While the speculation is that Sony found a game breaking glitch or something massive that needed to be patched day one, one would think that such a major release on a system would have had all of that figured out before release day.
The lack of care shown towards this Vita game is definitely not the first neglectful sign we've seen towards Sony's powerful portable, with the Jak HD Collection being severely bugged, and plagued with framerate drops, with the lack of large third party titles, and Sony's official statement that we shouldn't expect any more first party titles.
Many who've played demos for Ratchet and Clank Collection have stated that the games run flawlessly, maintaining the frames and upholding the style and charm that everybody loves in the series, which is great news for a system known for ports of popular PS2 games.
There's also the European announcement that the game may be cross buy, and would sell for £19.99. Meaning that if you had a copy of the previously released Ratchet and Clank HD collection on your PS3, you can get it on Vita for no extra charge, and if you had the Vita version, you'd get the PS3 version for free. No such announcement has been made in North America, but there are hopes.
Another game supposed to come out today was Olli Olli on PS3 and PS4 (Another cross buy title). It hit digital stores on PC and Mac today, but there was no show on Sony's consoles. Hopefully it's sorted out and we get a clearer date.
