I have been 2. One was my fault, and one wasn't. Both times I was driving. The first one was while I was in Hawai'i. I was trying to make a left turn, but I had to stop in the middle of the intersection to avoid hitting a card that slammed the brakes at his stop sign. While I was waiting in the middle of the 3-way intersection for him to come to a complete stop, I got hit from my passenger side. ( Note: When I started my left turn, I saw nothing over the hill, so I started to turn... ) Total'ed my $7,000 2007 Pontiac Gran Priex Sports Edition, and his 1974 Mercedes, worth a mere $2,000. Here is a link if you want to see the damage to that car: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zl6PzNVsw_g As for my other accident, I was at a red light. Light turned green, but I could only creep past the light to come to another light. As soon as I come to a stop, a guy rams me at about 30 miles per hour. He was on his, no insurance ( required in the State of Washington ), no license, no registration. Cops told me he got almost $2,000 in tickets. I have never been in a car accident when I was not driving. Have you ever been in a car accident? If so, tell us about it. The first one was while I was in Hawai'i. Yes....I've been in 3 horrible ones...I won't detail it out. The first one was to do with my father...the second one was to do with my uncle. At that time I was on my way back home from the hospital due from my 2nd operation on my ear. Mind you...I still was weak.....the 3 one was a young woman who was drunk, my uncle was driving at the time and I saw it coming...I didn't like it...that why I hate bumper cars since day once from when I was small. It is not run it reminds me of car crashes and such....this kind of scar will never fade away from me....so I only like to be in cars whom can drive very well and its my mother, only her... |

I have never been in an accident when I was driving. One time, when I was a passenger in my friend's 2002 dark green Camaro, we were sitting at a green light waiting to turn left. It was about 11:00pm, so it was pitch black and it was pouring. After a couple cars passed, my friend starts to turn left, but I see a car coming, fast. He starts turning like there's nobody coming, so I'm thinking to myself "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Stop!" But I couldn't say anything out loud, as it was all happening too fast. I finally said "Dude! Didn't you see that guy?" And he was like "What..." BAM! The car hit the back of the passenger side of the car, and since the road was wet we almost did a complete 360. It was something else. That's the only time I've ever actually been hit while inside a car. I've witnessed plenty of horrific accidents, where people probably died upon impact. Like I'll never forget this one time, when I was still working with my dad doing drywall, at like 5:00am in downtown Atlanta. We're just minding our own business, driving down the highway like normal. All of a sudden, the car right in front of us swerved to the right really bad. We we're in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway. He was lucky no one was next to him at the time. Anyway, first he swerved to the right. The next thing that I see is this full grown golden retriever just sitting there in the middle of the highway. Well, we're going like 75mph in my dad's big F250, so you can tell what happened next...that's right...we hit that dog going 75mph. Nothing happened to the truck, we just kept going. As for the car that swerved to the right, he then swerved all the way back to the left, back across the highway, heading straight for the middle wall. The only thing I remember is that guy was driving a little Ford Focus, and when he hit that wall, the whole front half of the car just caved in. There is NO way that dude survived that. That's also the first time I witnessed someone getting killed, probably. Sorry for that long story if you read the whole thing...carry on. I have been in a car accident in Italy. We had a hired car and we were driving on a highway when suddenly a guy who thought to be smart was driving on our lane in the opposite direction. He hit us and although both our cars were damaged the cars could still drive and everything was okay as both cars started to slow down at the right time. I wasn't too shocked actually, I found it all to be very weird as I was very young. |

Almost. My mom was driving and I was in the front passenger seat. We were on a main road. Not a highway, but the speed limit was 45. We are just driving along and all of a sudden, out of nowhere a white car speeds by. I am pretty sure they came from behind us. They were inches away from rear ending us when they managed to swerve to the side. They had to be going around 120 miles per hour. They were going over 100, easy. 5 minutes later we saw the car parked at a Starbucks parking lot. Apparently someone needed their coffee really bad. |

I have been once, when my mom was driving.
She was going to make a right turn, but had to stop because there were still people crossing the road. The place we were at is a huge tourist attraction here, so there's often people crossing roads. Anyways, the car behind us hit us. At first I had no idea what the heck just happened; I thought it was some sort of strong earthquake. (Earthquakes aren't usually strong here, though.) Then I realized that someone hit us when my mom turned on the hazard sign and stuff. When we checked the cars, ours just had some little dents, but the one that hit was really beat up. I'm glad it wasn't a hardcore accident. I am pretty scared to death that I'll get into an accident when I drive, so I try to do it as little as possible. I mean, I haven't been in one yet while driving...but there are some pretty bad drivers here. And I'm afraid that my paranoia of getting into an accident might hinder my driving. It's a lot easier if I'm with someone, though. But I don't have that luxury most of the time. She was going to make a right turn, but had to stop because there were still people crossing the road. No but I have been in several "close calls". It's very scary and I don't even wish close call accidents on people. My heart basically stopped each time it happened. Alot of people drive reckless these days.. some teenagers but adults also. I hope you guys don't get into anymore accidents... I really hope I am never in one. |

thing1 : Yeah, believe me I'll make sure I'll never ride with him again. Don't get me wrong, he's still a really good friend of mine, but ever since that happened I have never even gotten into the same car as him when he's the one driving, especially at night. I think he just simply didn't realize how fast the other car was going. In my opinion, I think he didn't even see the other car. There's absolutely no excuse for not being able to see a car coming at night. I mean, come on... |

I've only ever been in one serious car accident. I was on my way home from work on my bike, when this women ran a stop sign and hit me on my right side. I was tossed about 15 feet and lost consciousness for a few seconds. I was wearing a helmet, which ended up being cracked and I ended up with a only a mild skull fracture. The rest of me didn't fare as well. My right leg and ankle were severely bruised and still give me trouble every now and again. My bike was totaled but I remember being most upset by the fact that my inhaler, which was in my pocket, was broken. lol I actually refused to go to the hospital. An ambulance was called to the scene and they looked me over, picked the pebbles out of my arm and asked if I wanted to go, but I was by myself, scared and honestly just wanted to go home. One of my bosses was driving by right after it had happened, seen me and stopped to offer me a ride home. I felt horrible afterwards, because I guess I was in shock or something, but I numbly thought "I should call my Mom to let her know I'd be late coming home." So, I asked Denise (my boss) if I could borrow her cell and call my Mom. When she answered, all I said was something like: "Hi, I'll be home later. I was in a car accident. Bye." I'm laughing now thinking about it but the next day my sister, who was with my Mom when I phoned, told me she started crying and wanted to come see me. I didn't even tell her where I was. Anyway, the women who hit me got off scott free and was I back to work after taking a day off. I actually refused to go to the hospital. Yes, my parents were driving my family somewhere (can't remember) and we were going through a green light straight, and someone in some crappy old car turns left right in front of us and we hit them. We were going about 30 mph them about 20 and it messed up our car. The insurance mostly paid the price of the car, but we had to pay about $2,000. That was about 4 years ago. |

Mistress : Well, that one sucks. That one sounds more like a fender bender. Did any people get hit when you and your mother got bumped? Bintsy : I almost rolled my car a month or two ago driving over the Snoqualmie Pass. Look it up. Anyways, I was going about 3 or 4 over the limit like I usually do on Interstates, and I am taking one of the very not sharp turns, but it's really long. I get to a point where I start to feel like I am loosing traction in my outside tires, so I had to slow down to 10 under. I hate going slow, but if it means my safety, then I am for it. I am just surprised that there are not more accidents on the Snoqualmie Pass. Fishergirl7 : I think I have heard you talk about that one before... Also, since the woman got off Scott Free, I take it that there were no witnesses, and it was basically a hit and run? Barathemos : It sounds like the other person ran a red light with the way put it. If you had a green light, and they had a red light ( unless it was from across, and not to your side... still shouldn't matter... people going straight have the right-away ), they should be 100% at fault, and your parents should have had to pay them anything. Fishergirl7 : I think I have heard you talk about that one before... thing1 : There were witnesses who seen her messing around with her cell or something when she ran the stop sign. Back then talking on a cell wasn't illegal in the city like it is now. She was driving a rental while visiting someone in the city, and when I contacted the rental service to get information I needed for the police report, it turned out she didn't even mention it to them. They weren't happy. Anyway, since she was from out of town and denying I was hurt and saying my bike was fine, I had to do all this running around to get witness accounts, bike damage appraisals...I just got sick of dealing with her and let it go. Fishergirl7 : You should have held her responsible. The government screwed me over with my Army job and being getting hurt because of it. You don't see me giving up trying to get the benefits I was promised, do you? |

I have been once. Well, not really a car accident, but still.. So yeah, we we're going to get stuff for something, it was pretty far, but when we were going back home, we were driving home... It was still halfway.. And then a Bird got smashed into the window... The window got broken, and there was a lot of blood inside the car and on the window.. I first thought it was my mother that her hair exploded (no lie)... when seeing that I literally screamed 'Maman!!' (French for Mom) but then I saw a bird on top of the window and a lot of feathers in the car and that my mom was alive. That's the Story. ![]() So yeah, we we're going to get stuff for something, it was pretty far, but when we were going back home, we were driving home... It was still halfway.. I was a passenger in a car belonging to one of my sisters friends. Some guy drove into our side at 50 KM/H. Miraculously, no one got hurt by that moron (apparently he was drunk), minus a few cuts. |

Yeah, thankfully it wasn't a major, news report one, some dumbass was playing with his piece of crap car, and he crashed into my Grandpa's car, the back was dented severely, but the only injuries we got was from the air bags. |

I've been in a few over the course of my lifetime. Nothing too serious, with the exception of the one I was in last year. The lady that hit us was texting and totaled our car. And if that wasn't bad enough, her insurance company completely jipped us on the "settlement" they offered us. It was pathetic, especially since my Mom and two older siblings had to be rushed to the emergency room when it happened, and I spent all day waiting in the lobby. It was horrible. But we did get a better car out of it. So I guess that's a plus.
I have back problems now since the accident but I'm just glad it wasn't anymore serious than it already was. I have back problems now since the accident but I'm just glad it wasn't anymore serious than it already was. |
