Growing up and even today my Dad has always said You can't fix stupid. Also he would say Your house your responsibility. Meaning when my friends come over its my job to clean up after them or if anything happens its on me because its my house. This is a great opportunity to share about how you found out your parents know a thing or two about a thing or two. When their sayings blow up in your face and that saying they kept saying over and over again actually makes sense. Mine was when a friend and min prank called some teachers all over Christmas break in middle school at my house and when we had to face the principle he said like he was quoting my Dad, 'Your house your responsibility."

Oh you know, the sarcastic one

"If (insert person) jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?"

"Don't expect something and when nothing happens you won't be disappointed."
"Can't is not a word."

There may have been more - it's been a long time. Both of those are important to me now.

One of the most popular things my dad used to say was

"You're not sorry if you do it again."  Well, it might not have been worded exactly that way, but that was the gist of it.  I've always taken this to heart and although I know people make mistakes, this is something I took from him.  People tend to apologize far too often without meaning it. I think 'sorry', and 'I love you' are two of the most misused words/phrases in the English language.  They are too often a lie or a mistake.

I remember that my father used to say:
"Those that hit you, you must hit them back twice"
Of course, I don't had the guts to that in the first place.
Or here another one:
"Being nice is good, but it'll get to nowhere when facing people who views it as your weakness"
True that, I've been nice to my brother for years, and what was his respond? Insult after insult, the boy is clearly learning bad traits from his friends and our family keeps saying that but he just doesn't listen, and he's also ignorant as hell. And also lies a lot even when it is obvious, to make things worse, he ALWAYS thinks he is right in a conversation.

Some of my quotes I remember growing up. I am a Christian and my parents are Christian so some that was integrated in my parents quotes

You are going to make mistakes in life. It is how you handle them and how you learn from them is what makes you better

When you stumble remember that Jesus loves you and we have a forgiving God

Be responsible for your actions, and accept the consequences.

My parents always said to me, "Sorry means you won't do it again," because I kept doing things again after apologizing for doing them. I think they stopped saying that to me 3 years ago. Now they say it a lot to my 6-year-old brother instead because he ALWAYS says sorry and ALMOST NEVER means it! >=(

My dad always spammed " You make your bed, you lay in it "

I have never understood what that meant when I was younger. Now that I'm older it makes a lot of sense. Remembering the quote my dad used makes me think of all the times I have done bad in my life and had to pay for it. Bad as in not listening to my parents and doing whatever I wanted.

I shall spam this quote to kids that I could possibly have in the future.

My parents were mean until I was about 10 and when they were mean they always kept saying "You're not sorry" and then a non-mean quote "Can't does nothing".

I've been given lots of life lesson quotes whilst growing up, such as :

' Can't is not a word ' most often said when I said I can't do something. Of course when my dad or my mum said that I just walked out and pretended I never even tried.

' If someone hits you, hit them right back! ' was said a few times by my dad, once he said it after I had got home from school and someone had punched me in the face.

' Your not sorry if you do it again ' it was said loads, whenever I did something I always said sorry, sometimes I did it again and said sorry.

And there are TONS more my parents used to sad to me.

My step-dad was kind of a tough love kind of guy. One of his favorite sayings was "Crap in one hand and wish in the other, see which one fills up first".
