Hello! It's me, TheFadedWarrior, and today I am going to be writing the 3rd part of my Super Mario 3D Land Walkthrough. I will be covering the star coins in the Special Worlds 1-4. I hope I assist you in getting 100% completion! Part 1 - Worlds 1-4 Part 2 - Worlds 5-8 Legal Stuffs: I have nothing to do with any game companies... Except the fact that I play their games and purchase their consoles. TIPS If you're going for total 100% completion, you have to complete every single level with both Mario and Luigi as well as getting a golden flag on every level. The best powerup you can have is Tanooki Mario/Kitsune Luigi. Why? Simply because you can slowfall. On the other hand, a few of these require you to be Fire Mario/Luigi. Some of these coins are very frustrating to get and may require many, many spare lives. Go to the section a little past halfway in world 1-2 with all the koopas. Stand on top of the first item block and walk down off the edge onto the Koopa. Stop walking. You should be constantly bouncing off of the shell and be getting 1-ups rapidly. Without further ado, the 3rd part of my guide! S-1 Special 1-1 - The first coin is at the base of the tower and requires Tanooki Mario. See that L-shaped corner on the left side? Wall jump off of that wall, slowfall back to it, wall jump once more, and slowfall onto the top. Jump on top of the block there and jump one final time for the first coin. Once you get near the very top of the tower, you should see the second star coin. Bounce off of the small moving bouncy platform to get the coin. For the final coin, go below the end flag. See that small pathway? Take it to the floating platform with the star coin on the side of it. Special 1-2 - I believe this is the first Shadow Mario level? At the section where Shadow Mario first forms, you should see a large block consisted of smaller crumbling blocks. At the top of this collection of platforms should be the star coin. Go to the midway flag. See the star coin? Jump over the swinging spikes and grab the star coin. The final coin is immediately after the second coin. When you get to the large hole in the ground (at the area with the spiny shell dudes), you might be able to barely see a bouncy platform. Directly above the platform is the third and final star coin in this level. Special 1-3 - Go inside of the first cannon and aim left. You will then be able to see the star coin above a smaller, hidden platform. Shoot yourself at the star coin and hopefully you'll grab it. Do the same when you get to the cannon on the cloud platform. The fireball platform will have the star coin. The final star coin is, yeah, on another somewhat hidden platform. On the final cannon, aim to the right. You will not be able to see the star coin, so be careful when launching Mario. It is very easy to overshoot. Special 1-4 - At the very beginning, jump on top of the rocks. Follow them to the right and located on the tallest rock is your first coin. The second coin can't be missed. Just after the long bouncy wire with the red coin ring on it, you should see the coin. Yeah, you guessed it. You have to wall jump off of the wall behind the coin in order to get it. The third and final coin in this level is where the 2 bouncy wires with the flying goomba in the middle are. Jump high off of the second bouncy wire to get to the third, higher bouncy wire. On the right of it is the last star coin. Special 1-Castle - At the first wide item block (the three block wide one), jump on top of it and jump once more for the first star coin. Go to the next platform past the Hammer Bros. See that blue timer? Jump underneath it to reveal a hidden block with a star inside of it. Grab the star and jump onto the block to get the star coin. The final coin is behind the second thwomp. Wall jump once to grab the coin. S-2 Special 2-1 - At the first four note blocks, bounce high off of them. The star coin is just above them. When you see the 2 wide note blocks, go on the moving platform behind them. The top half, to be exact. When they move up you should be able to collect the coin. The final coin requires Tanooki Mario. At the very end past the warp block, jump on top of the moving platforms. When they peak in height, slowfall over onto the building where the star coin is located. Special 2-2 - Go down the green pipe. When you come back out, go into the water and swim as far right as you can. The star coin is impossible to miss. The second star coin is almost as easy. When the long eel-like fish is on your screen, the star coin is on the right side of one of those grates on the ceiling. Keep going until you get to the next green pipe. On top of those 2 wood blocks is the star coin. Wall jump on the left side of it to get on top. Special 2-3 - The first coin is actually pretty far into the level. Just before the midway flag, you'll notice the star coin. Jump over the swinging spikes and grab it. Be careful to land on the green platform again! At some point during the level, you will get to a geyser. Go above the geyser but do not go right any further. If the platform is still enough, it should launch you up right at the coin. When you get to the steep ramp just before the end, go until you get to the 2 geysers. Once you land from there, go all the way left to the star coin. Special 2-4 - Make sure you bring a propeller hat (you'd be stupid not to). When you get to the long ice-brick wall, jump on top of it and go to the left edge. There's the first star coin. Now when you get to the very tall tower of goombas, you'll see the shadow of the coin. Fly up to the top goomba and bounce off. Once you bounce off, use the propeller hat once more to reach maximum height and to get the coin. Now just before the end of the level, there will be 2 donut blocks next to each other. Jump off the front of them and use the propeller hat. The star coin is just under the ice stairs at the end. Special 2-5 - Just before the first warp box is the star coin. Press all three green switches and quickly climb up to where the warp box is. The green platforms should tower up to make a platform under the star coin. At the halfway flag, press both green switches but go along the right path. Follow it and take the warp box is leads to. It should warp you high above the midway flag where the star coin is. Now just before the final warp box, jump up the stairs from the 3 green switches. At the top is another green switch. Press it and follow it until it drops. At the turn before the drop, jump off the edge (trust me). There's a hidden platform with the star coin. Special 2-Airship - Go to the platform just past the red coin ring. Above that platform's second spiked ball cannon is the first star coin. Jump on top of the cannon and once more for the coin. The second coin is in plain sight. Somewhere in the level you'll see it floating on a small platform. Carefully jump onto the platform and back. The third coin is the same as the coin in regular World 2-Airship. About halfway through the strip with all the banzai bills (just before the donut blocks), you'll see a path that goes down. Follow it and you'll see the star coin on a spike platform. S-3 Special 3-1 - I don't... How is the first coin even possible to miss? It's right there just before the halfway flag. I don't even need to describe it. The second one is out in the open and obvious as well. You may need Tanooki Mario to make it much easier. Up high in the middle of one of the swings is the coin. Jump off of the swing when it reaches the side. If you have Tanooki Mario, you can glide safely back onto the platform. The final one is at the huge wall with the large amount of swinging platforms. Below the first platform is the star coin. Jump off of the platform, through the star coin, and land onto the platform below. Special 3-2 - Nintendo really needs to learn how to hide these star coins better. The first is in plain sight (I choose not to explain where it is because it's hard to explain but it's obvious where it is). It will be on a blue spinning block to the right of a yellow spinning block. Go until the halfway flag. Go up and stand on top of the three blocks. Jump off of there through the coin (you may or may not need a Tanooki suit). At the end area with all the spinning blocks, there should be a hidden red block at the top left corner. On top of it is the final star coin. Special 3-3 - The first coin is above the first fire-breathing piranha plant. Easy, eh? So is the second coin. When you get to the large, empty wooden platform with the warp box on it, go to the top right corner. The star coin is hidden there. The last coin? I barely need to explain it. When you're climbing the bouncy wire tower, the star coin is somewhere there... yeah, you'll see it. Special 3-4 - I'm sorry, but I'm getting really bored of this. The first star coin is above two spike swings. Got it? Good. The second is at the end of the red/blue tipping platform. You might be able to see it at the top of your screen. Wall jump off of the left wall to grab the coin. The last is impossible to miss. You'll see it on a donut platform. Go to the top of it and jump for the star coin. Special 3-5 - Go through the first door. Let the mini thwomp walk over to you. Do a small hop and when it hits the ground, quickly jump onto it. Jump once more and it should lift you to the first star coin. Go to the halfway flag. See that star coin? Yeah. Pretty easy, huh? Jump on the right yellow platform when the time is right and you'll collect the coin. The third and final coin in this level is on the second spike spinner... you know what I'm talking about. Use Tanooki Mario and float over onto the block where the star coin is (the second spinner block). Special 3-Airship - Walk across the first bouncy wire. The ship you get to will have the star coin on its side. The second coin is at the first mole. Wall jump off of the ship's side to access this coin. At the edge of the ship, fall off. Trust me, you'll land in a secret area with the star coin. We're getting close to the end of part 3! S-4 Special 4-1 - After the second set of platforms fall, wait until you get to top top of the 2 spiked walls. On top of the right wall is the star coin. Very carefully jump onto the wall and back. Soon after you'll notice a bouncy platform. Bounce high off of it to collect the coin. The final coin is at the very end of the level. Get to the top of the moving platforms. Jump onto the walls behind you. On the right side of the walls is the star coin. Special 4-2 - The first coin is very hard to miss. When you get to the half-ring of ghosts, the star coin is right next to them... Like I said, it's hard to miss. When you get to the large platform with the star and the large amount of ghosts, you'll probably see the shadow of the next star coin. This is easy: Just jump beneath it. This last coin is also easy. When you see it (trust me, you will), jump over to it and take it. There's a hidden platform underneath it. Special 4-3 - When you get to the red coin ring of death, go to the waterfall behind it. Inside of the waterfall is the first star coin. The second is in plain sight. You'll see it between 2 platforms. Drop down there and quickly wall jump back up. When you see this last coin, you'll be confused. It's under the arch just before the flag. Throw a boomerang at the coin to collect it. Special 4-4 - Seriously, guys. Some of these coins are just too easy. You'll see the first coin right at the beginning. Go down the path and grab the coin. It's not even hidden or hard to access or anything. The second coin is just before the area with the clouds that you can walk on. See that item box? Jump on top of it and jump once more for the coin. The last coin in this level is also very easy. At the very end, jump off of the edge at the coin. Yeah, you might not get a 1up from the finishing flag if you're not Tanooki Mario, but at least you get the coin. Special 4-5 - Go to the dry bones. Jump onto the blocks behind you then over the wall. You should be able to access the coin from there. When you get to the 2 walls that require you to wall jump, go to the top. See the star coin? Wall jump once more on the wall next to the coin. The final coin is immediately after the second. Go just a little past Big Boo and jump across the gap at the coin. Be sure to land safely (this is why I recommend a Tanooki suit for every level). Last level in this guide! Special 4-Airship - After the room with the boomerang bros, you'll see a red ! block. Hit it three times at walk across the 3 newly created blocks that it produced. Jump once you get to the edge of the blocks. The next coin is just afterwards and it's, yeah, the same thing. Hit the red block 3 times and climb up the stairs. Jump off but quickly turn around once you grab the coin. The last coin is also from a red ! block. Just before the halfway flag, notice that thin, long spike coming out of the front of the ship? Walk on top of it until you get to the block. You know the drill. Hit it three times, follow the new blocks, grab the coin, go back. Well, that's it for now! I hope I helped you in getting 100% in Super Mario 3D Land! Stay tuned for part 4 where I'll be doing Special Worlds 5-8! Until next time, ~TFW~ Part 1 - Worlds 1-4 Part 2 - Worlds 5-8 Legal Stuffs: I have nothing to do with any game companies...
