This month's Speed Run competition is for 'Aldynes' for the SuperGrafx. You can play it here:

The point of this competition is to beat the game as fast as you can.


NEW RULE: You cannot cheat or use glitches of any sort.

VIDEO REQUIRED: You must post a video of yourself accomplishing the score you submit. You must use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording capabilities. The video submission has to be a single video, it cannot be broken into parts so if you recorded it in parts, be sure to merge them into a single video.

RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of the ending screen by pressing F6 when you've completed the game. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where it shows the Speed Runs, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Speed Run', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Speed Run' to submit your speed run. The video must be uploaded to the vizzed youtube account. The video submission has to be a single video, it cannot be broken into parts.

I have never played this game before but shoot em ups are kinda of my thing from my r type and gradius experience so i will give it a shot.

actually scratch that it will be too hard for me to get good enough to do a game like this quick to compete with the other runners   

This is probably the hardest game I have ever played. Although, I have only recently started to play this genre. Only 2 members have ever beat this game without save states. I may have time to practice near the end of the month. Hopefully I can develop some new strategies to finally beat the last 2 levels. A super prestigious speedrun to have under your belt no doubt.

jerryaberry : you think this is hard try super r type on pro mode, also actraiser 2 on impossible mode is brutal as well.

UFC : I actually think that this game smokes Super R Type. The last 2 levels of this game are much more intense than All of Super R Type combined.

rcarter2 : I was hoping to see you make an appearance in this thread, if anyone is going to win this, I'm sure it's going to be you since you've already beat it.

Davideo7 : Gotta say, it was a stroke of luck that I beat it the last time. Never beat it again after that. But I have tried. Nguyen beat it too. Haven't seen much of him around, but if he comes around, I expect to see him here.

I meant in terms of controller similarities. Is it similar to a NES/SNES controller?

I think I figured it out. I will give this game a try, and if I can beat it, I will speedrun it.

Just to clear something up - and no disrespect intended - I have never played any of the Grafx consoles before. I am not familiar with them.

rcarter2 : on pro mode? not too sure about that, and actraiser 2 defiantly beats it on its hardest mode what were they thinking when designing the difficulty for that one.

UFC : He's referring to the last 2 levels of this game, if you haven't played the last 2 levels of Aldynes than you wouldn't be able to compare it.

Using the RGR Plugin, I recorded my gameplay of the speedrun. Following the directions, I attempted to upload the video onto the YouTube page. But the power went out, so the video was not able to be uploaded. I still have the footage - unedited - but am not sure if it will be accepted as an entry if I upload it. What should I do?

how do i spin my extra weapons in a circle around me? im using the 2 button system and all I know is how to make them go off and kill on their own and just have them attached to me and shoot forward, i need them to spin in a circle for my strategy 

I had some attempts, and I know it is not going to happen for me. I made a thread at the beginning of this months where people challenge me to do deathless runs of games of their choice. It has gotten a fairly nice reaction from people. I have a LOT of challenges from people, so I have been working on those. So my time on this month's competitions got put on the back burner.

RetroGamer9000 : If you didn't get a screenshot as well than it doesn't count, sorry.
