Requirements to vote the game into each category:
1. The game MUST be newly released in 2013. Releases to different consoles DO NOT count. A list of all the games released in 2013 are posted here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_in_video_gaming#Game_releases
2. You don't have to complete the game in order to put it on the list, but it is expected that each member will be reasonable in their selection of games to vote, whether if it through playing it or watching gameplay of it.
3. You are allowed to vote for the same game in more than one appropriate categories.
4. The RGR categories must be games that are in the RGR (With the exception of the 5th Gen category). This means that even though there is a great retro game of the past that you want to vote for, you cannot vote for it if it is not in the RGR.
5. Hacks cannot be consider in any of the RGR categories except for "Best Hack". Hackers who have games on the RGR are allowed to try and sway people to vote for their hack. My advice would be to promote only one of your hacks so that it won't split up the votes.

So....what will it be? There are so many possibilities!
Will Grand Theft Auto V be favored to win it all? or BioShock Infinite? or Last of Us? or Super Mario 3D World?
Will early year releases like Ni no Kuni, Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry be remembered?
Will the Call of Duty/Battlefield and Pokemon fanboys come out and dominate the polls?
Will the fighters like Killer Instinct, Injustice appear on the standings?
Will independent games like The Stanley Parable or Gone Home charm their way to the top?
Will this board be full of casual and mobile gamers and see Plants vs Zombies 2 or Animal Crossing be the No. 1?
Will someone actually play a sports game?
Will Pokemon take up all the RGR awards?

Davideo7 : I'm not sure if this has been done before, but if you think this is a good idea to be an official thing, can this be promoted in the announcements?

I think this is a wonderful idea, but don't you think that's an awful lot of categories?    Kinda seems like overkill...

Singelli : Yeah, me and Igor were talking about this, and I think it's a lot because it includes the RGR games in the list...not really sure if there is something that should be taken out though. I personally like the Modern Games list. It is fairly typical for some sites to have that many categories.

I have a question & suggestion for the Top of the Group category.

Question: Do the games nominated have to be from the same year or can they be older?

Suggestion(I feel like HK-47): I think those categories should be split into groups. PS3/4, XBox 360/1, WiiU, &PC(this is stretching it a little) in the console category & 3DS & Vita in the Handheld category. Each system dukes it out for Top Console/Handheld of the year & then those two categories duke it out for Game of the Year.


Something else I noticed.... you included the PS3 & Xbox 360 but didn't include the Wii. Did you mean to do that?

-Best Game of 2013 - Grand Theft Auto V. There's really no competition here. It's been a pretty meh year for gaming all in all.
-Best Console Game of 2013 - Grand Theft Auto V. Again, this isn't even a competition.
-Best Handheld Game of 2013 - Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I debated the new Mario game as well, but Animal Crossing: New Leaf makes me wish I had a 3DS of my own.
-Best PC Game of 2013 - Rogue Legacy. Not a tough choice. Honestly, if it wasn't an indie game, and had more developers like GTA V did and been longer, this might have won my GotY vote.
-Best PS(3, 4, Vita) Game of 2013 - MLB 13 the Show. I'm going for exclusives here. Baseball is one of the best reasons to pick up a PS3, and will be the reason I get a PS4.
-Best Xbox (360 and One) game of 2013 - Nothing. I'm trying to stick to actual exclusives, and 2013 sucked for 360/One owners, due to a lack of exclusives.
-Best Nintendo (Wii, WiiU and 3DS) Game of 2013 - Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I've zero interest in the Wii, and while the WiiU is nice, it's more of a past gen system. New Leaf is the biggest standout.
-Worst Game of 2013 - NBA Live 14. It's a good attempt, but it's so ridiculously below the level of 2k.

-Best Story in a Game of 2013 - Grand Theft Auto V. Three compelling protagonists. What more do you want?
-Best Gameplay in a Game of 2013 - Rogue Legacy. Simple, at times difficult. Frustrating if you suck, but gratifying if you are good. This is what gaming needs more of.
-Best Visuals in a Game of 2013 - The Last of Us. As mediocre as the rest of the game was, it was rather pretty.
-Best Audio/Soundtrack in a Game of 2013 - Grand Theft Auto V. Hard to compete with having hundreds of licensed songs.
-Best Voicing in a Game of 2013 - Grand Theft Auto V. Trevor is a beast.

Genre
-Best Action - DmC reboot. No real comment here. Action games have lagged this year.
-Best Adventure - Tearaway. Metacritic calls it an Adventure game.
-Best RPG (Role Playing Game) - Tales of Xillia. RPGs are so few and far in between now. Xillia stands out.
-Best Shooter - Battlefield 4. What other choice is there? CoD and Killzone? Give me the game that doesn't make me feel like a loser.
-Best Sport - Out of the Park Baseball 14. Best management simulator I've ever played.
-Best Racing - Need for Speed Rivals. Voo voooommmmm
-Best Strategy - Fire Emblem Awakening. I've never been big on Fire Emblem. But Awakening is actually pretty good. Worth a play, even if only for a few hours.
-Best Fighter - None, all fighting games suck.
-Best Casual - None, too vague a genre.
-Best Multiplayer - MLB 13 the Show. One of the few games with local multiplayer that doesn't suck.
-Best Online - Grand Theft Auto V. Can be a little empty, and boring if you don't have a headset. But if you have one, robbing banks and playing golf is very fun.

I'm not doing any of the RGR stuff, because honestly, I don't use or even like the RGR.

play4fun : There weren't very many supporters this year but that doesn't mean that this won't be successful. I'd like to recommend a few ideas and thoughts here.

1. Call it "Vizzed Emmys 2014" similar to the Emmys you see on tv.

2. Do a Vizzed Emmys Summer 2014 and Vizzed Emmys Winter 2014. I recommend this so that you can split the Voting into 2 parts. 1 part Vizzed Retro Game Room Emmys and 1 part Modern Gaming Emmys. Summer Emmys can take place in July and Winter Emmys can take place at the end of November into December.

3. Advertise. Add a link in your signature with some eye catching detail to get traffic to your page. You will generate more traffic and the more users who see it, the more who take part in it. If David permits, add it to the Announcements! It will surely be noticed.
