Growing up with three other siblings and semi-poor parents, Christmas was hard on my beloved mother and father. However, on occasion, my mother would buy us one of these mouth-watering treats. They were always SO special to us, and easily my favorite Christmas stocking stuffer. Christmas was the only day we ever had them, and not even every year.... I always woke up on Christmas morning, hoping it would be a 'chocolate orange' year. It was the ONLY thing I looked for in my stocking.

Well, I couldn't find anywhere carrying them last year, nor could I find them this year. I finally caved and searched for them on amazon, and was happy to see there were 6 balls for .... well, $26. Worth the price, as steep as it might be. So I started looking for chocolate raspberries, and alas..... no search results!

I quickly scanned the rest of the web, googling Terry's chocolate raspberry balls... and there was one hit... ONE. Excited and curious to know if they really had any in stock, I set about making my order! With fingers a-flurry, I registered to their site.. something I never do.... and 'wham!'.... I mashed the order key faster than my heart could skip a beat.

And they only deliver in North Carolina.

I highly doubt the store even has them as their website advertises, because from a yahoo answer, I've surmised Terry's no longer makes these finger-licking sweets.

And now I just want to sit here and cry. I can order the oranges, but the raspberries!!!!!! How I will miss their taste on my tongue....

:'(

Anyone in NC want to check on this for me?

Does anyone else like these chocolate balls? What one treat always gets you every year? What treat do you look forward to?

That's terrible! I can't imagine having a Christmas without one. They've become a big tradition in my family.

They're not really popular in my area, but they're always full on store shelves. I really wish One Day Shipping was a reality around here so I could send you one.

I don't live in North Carolina so I can't send you any (cause I can't get my hands on them either).  The next best thing would be making them right? I tried searching for them, but came up short. I did, however, find a recipe for something sort of similar. They're not chocolate raspberry balls, but they are chocolate covered raspberries.  hope this can help!
Sorry I couldn't help you out anymore then this.

I also found this recipe for Raspberry fudge balls as I was typing. Here that is http://www.cooks.com/recipe/hx9tr1zz/raspberry-fudge-balls.html

I hope you have a merry Christmas anyway!

I remember when the raspberry ones were around too! I haven't seen them for at least 7 or more years, so I'm pretty sure they don't make them anymore (except for that site online that only delivers in North Carolina). I can easily find the other kinds in almost any store (milk, dark, toffee crunch), but sadly, I think the raspberry one was discontinued a long time ago. They also had a mint one that was discontinued last year, which was pretty good too. If I had the money, I'd gladly send you a couple of them, but I can't really afford it.

Almost every year I get one of the oranges for Christmas and this year was no different. I got a milk chocolate one which I've yet to open. It's sort of been a tradition in our family too with the oranges.

I can't really help you with this, but I've told you all that I know about it. I hope you eventually get at least one of the kinds of oranges to have!

I decided to post about my Christmas here, because it's actually quite relevant to the original intents of this thread, and because I don't want to create a brand new thread solely for the sake of telling everyone about my Christmas.

For those who don't know me or hadn't kept in touch, I was really dreading my Christmas break. My husband decided we would host Christmas for our families this year, and this introduced a plethora of stresses that I really didn't need in my life and which would bore everyone if I shared them.  Thus, when Christmas morning rolled around, I really was not a happy camper.  I've always been a family person, but I felt very overwhelmed by all that our Christmas would entail.

I quickly found my expectations disproved, and I came to enjoy the day.  My in-laws set about finding broken things in the house that I had asked my husband to fix... and they fixed them. I know Jason had been too busy to get to them, so seeing my in-laws chip in without even being asked... was a Christmas gift all in itself. My stove works, my smoke alarm has a better grip on things, and my garbage disposal no longer clunks.  Jason's mother even got up with me on the day after Christmas to do the dishes with me. Can anyone relate to that?  Just having her there by my side, chatting with me as we cleaned up after our Christmas dinner..... I felt so much weight lift off my shoulders.

Christmas dinner:

Jason even let his father put up a little Christmas tree... the first that we've ever had in our household as a married couple:

And while the family visiting was certainly my favorite part, I have to say that I felt quite spoiled this Christmas.  I can't remember feeling so spoiled since I was living at home pre-2005 and my parents would fill every space under our Christmas tree.  We watched the movie I can't live without (and my Christmas tradition, It's a Wonderful Life), then set about playing our own version of dirty Santa.  This tradition in the Singell family was created the year Jason and I got married, as an activity to bring us together.  The game results in blindly choosing gifts, and I was quite satisfied with the resulting gifts I had stolen from my family.

Then, my sister-in-law and parents-in-law really decided to lift my spirits by gifting me with very thoughtful things.

Here are some shots from the game itself and what I blindly won.  I kept choosing box shaped presents because my OCDness and nerdiness make boxes very exciting.

( a very pretty dish towel, a drying mat for dishes, a 500 piece puzzle, a dice game, and gum which will be given to Jason)

Then, as my in-laws like to say... "The loot!  the bounty!"

My two favorite television series, a game designed to improve my brain function, the most awesome ice cube tray ever, and a desperately needed stapler... It was all so, so lovely.  Even Dorito got in on the action with a catnip infused paper bag which had him rolling and hyper.

I didn't think things could get any better. My own mother came to visit the day after Christmas, and as I heard a knock on the door, I heard her voice outside as though she had been talking to someone. I opened my door and nearly cried in happy surprise:  My mother had brought along my younger sister and brother, whom I hadn't seen in quite some time.  I had figured my brother wouldn't come because he's mentally buried in an online world (and has a mental handicap which increases his boredom for anything not related to his interests), and my younger sister I knew had a billion family members to visit on her boyfriend's side of the family.

However, they towered over me as real as life itself (my 17 year old brother is 6'7"... I'm 5'4").  Both my siblings had bought me a typical candle, and I don't think my little brother realizes that he buys me a vanilla cupcake scented candle every time he sees me. It's humorous though, and I've never said anything about it.

My mother though?  Oh... she topped every person in our apartment that day.  We had promised not to swap gifts, but as a mother, she hadn't been able to resist.  The minute she pulled the bag out though, I was squealing. I have never, ever, EVER in my life seen a more awesome gift bag. Normally, I'm not the type to care for or desire to keep a gift bag.  But the one she somehow found in this crazy world we live in.... is smothered in dinosaurs!!!!  I could hardly stop expressing how awesome the bag was, to even peek inside!

You cannot deny the awesomeness of this bag.

After I finally got over admiring the bag, I removed the tissue paper and peered down into the contents of her gift.

Now guys.... realize this:  I had not talked to my mother about Terry's chocolate oranges.  I did not tell her or anyone else.... and we hadn't shared a Christmas together in 8 years. I had been craving, and searching for those special treats for over a week.  And would you know...... a mother just intuitively knows things, for inside that bag were two Terry's chocolate oranges. I wanted to cry at the little Christmas miracle.  Just days earlier, I had posted this thread about how I felt a little dead inside by their absence..... and here... my mother stepped in without knowing my craving.  I was shocked... stunned... and as in love with my mother as I ever have been.

My mother fret the whole time I went through the bag.

"Oh it's nothing special. Just a few little cheap things."

But as she raised me:  "Gifts shouldn't be valued by a price tag."

Every gift was so thoughtful and amazing, that I was easily moved to tears:  chocolate oranges representing those special Christmases, chocolate mint cookies reminding me of my time in Girl Scouts spent scoffing Girl Scout Mint Cookies, shampoo and conditioner for all the bathroom supplies I was given throughout college by everyone and their cousin, sticky notes for my unhealthy obsession, a bag of Reese's in memory of my favorite candy addiction growing up, a cup with a lid to protect me from my own clumsiness, and two energy drinks she got because she couldn't find my favorite drink which I had mentioned to her ONCE and she managed to remember.

After avoiding a few tears and feeling quite spoiled, we sat around and discussed a bunch of memories my mom no longer had. We laughed and scoffed and marveled until my younger sister nearly fell asleep with her chin on her collar bone, but we had a lovely time.

It was definitely the best Christmas I've had in a long time, made all that much sweeter by those little inexpensive things that mean more than monetary values.  The being taken care of, the memories, the fact that people really thought about me and what they knew about me...... I was on a feeling-loved-high.  I hope everyone else's Christmas was just as miraculous, and I hope that everyone takes time to appreciate those little things about the people we love so much.  God bless, and have a happy new year!

(And thank God for mothers and chocolate oranges!)

... I'm definitely glad I ate before reading that post, lol.

Finally! I get to know how your Christmas was, and I'm quite jealous. But happy at the same time. Isn't it funny how you thought how chaos would come of it, but it's the complete opposite? Hehe.

So out of curiosity, that pink thing with the little cat napping, is that a sticky note too?

And on a side note, I really thought that ice cube tray was some sort of toddler toy at first. But then I realized that they don't teach toddlers that kind of math yet... I think.

Mistress :  I know!!!! My Christmas totally failed my expectations, but in the best way possible.  ^.^  I'm just so happy that all my dread was for naught.

The pink thing with a napping cat is a pad of sticky notes, yes.  ^.^  There was another pad of sticky notes too, but I figured it'd be silly to post another picture of sticky notes. hehe.

And no... no most toddlers don't learn that kind of math. XD Jason's dad ordered me the ice cube tray.  I told him I can play with my food and not feel guilty, and I can make lame jokes.  "Hey, is that a plus sign floating in my cup?  Well doggone it, today is gonna be a positive day!"

Strange, isn't it? Each persons life touches so many other lives. When they aren't around they leave an awful hole, don't they? (We have a tradition in common.)

I'm so happy to hear that everything was grand!

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
