Toadette's Christmas Adventure...a follow-up to Toad's Christmas Adventure. This is my second Christmas review. In case you're wondering, I will only review Christmas games this month. My last one was Toad's Christmas Adventure. Is this as good as Toad's Christmas Adventure? Well, let's fine out. By the way, this is basically a flip of characters from the previous incarnation. Well, let's see how this game is.

The story: 5/10

This is really no different to the past incarnation. You can change the characters and there wouldn't really be a difference. This is basically a flip. In the Mushroom Kingdom, during winter, an evil monster kidnaps Toad. Now Toadette, Toad's sister, must save toad in FOUR, count them...FOUR exciting and very short levels. Now, this story doesn't really specify who or what the monster is. In Toad's Christmas Adventure, it said that the villain was Bowser's evil twin. By the way, in the last game Toad had to rescue Toadette if it wasn't brutally obvious already. This is really the exact same ball game though. There's literally no change to this. After Toadette defeats "the evil monster," Toad congratulates Toadette and wishes a merry Christmas to Toadette..or is it the person who- screw it.

Depth: 4/10

Okay, this may seem like a low rating for a Super Mario Brothers hack, but honestly, this is still the same ball game. We have only four levels like Toad's Christmas Adventure, but the textures are completely different. The soundtrack is the exact same too, so there's really no point in this. Like before, this game is really short. The levels are short, this is easy as heck to speed run, and the enemy placement is a lot less crude than Super Mario Brothers. This is HARDER than Toad's Christmas Adventure, but that doesn't mean this is actually a hard game. We have all the Super Mario Brothers enemies here, but with a different texture. Koopas, Goombas, Piranha Plants, Hammer Brothers (Gosh, I HATE HAMMER BROTHERS), and...well that's pretty much it for this adventure. No Buzzy Beetles, Lakitu, Bullet Bills, none of that. This is all I can say for this game's depth because all of the textures and the soundtrack will be in different categories, so let's move on.

Difficulty: 4/10

As you have heard, this game is not all that addicting. The hacker must have REALLY loved bottomless pits, but this isn't exactly what I'd call a nonlinear adventure. There's only four levels, so setting high scores on Vizzed is a complete joke, it shouldn't take you more than five minutes to complete this game, the levels are remarkably short, the enemy placement is a joke, so many power-ups in each level, and because of where the platforms are, this is a real joke when it comes to speed run attempts, you know when you're speed running this game, you'll be done in about two minutes, the levels are short...oh, I already said that, but you get the gist of it, right? This is really all I have to say about this game. I know you're thinking I'm saying this game is really short therefore it's really easy and this game is probably a demo. Well, this game is NOT a demo, people. This is a real hack that somebody made. If you're only gonna make four levels, at least put some challenge in it. I'm not saying something like Kaizo Mario World (Really hard hack of Super Mario World), but at least make this hack more of a challenge. How about more challenging than, let's say, Super Mario Brothers or Adventure of Link? Yeah, that would be fun.

Overall: 6/10

Okay, Toad's Adventure was kinda nice, but there's no change in the story, the sounds are the same, and this game is too easy and short for my tastes. Take my advice, save your time and play the original Super Mario Brothers. That one is certainly a lot more entertaining than this. This game is okay, and this is the highest rating I can give it. I'm sorry, but this hack isn't very good in my opinion. This may have been fun on my first run, but when you reach the fourth level, you get bored. How addicting is this game? A 5/10. I guess since I'm starting a conversation about this, I could fuse two categories together. This game is way too simple and short, and Super Mario Brothers hacks are not hard to make, so was it really hard for the hacker to multiply the levels in this game by eight to create thirty-two just like the original Super Mario Brothers had? This isn't a Super Mario 64 hack, no this is Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and this is not a game that takes skill to hack. Therefore, this game is NOT the first ROM hack you want to play. Start with something else!

Graphics:8/10

Okay, now that my rage is done, I can now say something POSITIVE about this game. The graphics aren't half bad even though these are just sprites taken from past Super Mario games. But honestly, the developer must REALLY love mushrooms. The Goombas are mushrooms, the Koopas are mushrooms, the Piranha Plants, the POWER-UPS, which are the same, except the Snowball is a lot more useful than Toad's Adventure, and the platforms. EVERYTHING HAS TO be a mushroom. Anyways, there's snow in every level except the castle, fire bars are snowballs, and....what the fu--dgesicle? What is the final boss supposed to be? Looks like a sprite from a Japanese game. You can't really tell what the boss is. It's supposed to be an evil monster, but honestly I can't exactly identify this guy. Anyways, Toadette is just Toad that is pink and has braids just like the actual Toadette character. In this game Toad actually stands up and does not sit down like a baby just like in Super Mario Brothers. But never the less, this is all I can say for the graphics. The text is enhanced, but that's pretty much it!

Sound: 5/10

At first, I liked the soundtrack, but now it's a bit stale...I mean we have the same robotic over-world theme and the castle theme is very hard to explain, and the death theme is just the original with tunes MIXED AROUND. What the heck?

Sorry this is a short review, but this isn't exactly a game that's worth writing more than this. Have a wonderful day and good luck.

Yet again another great review made by you man, nice job, you are really on fire with these reviews man! This is a nice lengthy, solid review which is always great in my opinion and it is always what I pay attention to most in a good review. You have good detail and a decent amount of information and stuff to say about each category of the game which is good because some users say a lot about one thing and almost nothing at all for another, so I am glad you were consistent throughout your review. Nice job with that!

Overall, I think this is just another fantastic review made by you and your work is only getting better the more you review. You are honest with your word choice and with your feelings towards the game, so I am glad you said how you felt about the game. Keep up the great work and keep making more great reviews man! I look forward to reading your next one! Merry Christmas!
