I am getting so tired of clicking the new posts tab, and seeing all these pointless threads being made in bulk everyday. And it is the same handful of people who are making them. I am not going to say any names, but you know who you are. You are clearly running out of ideas for posts for Tour de Vizzed, so you are just making stupid generic threads just to spark ways for you to boost your count. Now, you might be saying "if they are getting posts, they are not pointless". But here is the thing. Pretty much 99% of all the threads that have been made in bulk by these few select users over the past 2 days are so generic. They simply ask a VERY SIMPLE question that sparks absolutely no real conversation. It is just a method of boosting your post counts.

Again, you few people doing it know who you are. Pretty much, if you are making more than a few new threads each day over the past few days, you are the ones I am talking to. Stop filling the forum up with all of this junk. That is what they are. Junk. Try making a thread that actually makes people have to think, give real opinions, and spark some intelligent conversation. If you are making more than 3-4 threads a day, you clearly aren't even putting much thought into your threads. You are just making threads over the first random question that pops into your heads.

I think only like 2-4 of them are pointless in my opinion. but regardless, I apologize for doing this if I was one of them.

rcarter2, I can't tell you how close I was to creating this exact same thread about an hour ago.  I'm glad you did.  I've been trying NOT to click on the 'new posts' link all day because it's pissing me off.  I really wish everyone doing it could be DQ'd for good so they stop.  It's been absolutely insane and ridiculous, and it's making our forum look awful.

Can't tell you how much I appreciate this thread. But then again, you might know from what I've been talking to you about.

I wholeheartedly agree, rcarter. Do you want to know how annoying it is seeing pointless threads pop up and flooding the "New Posts" page? Really annoying. All of the REAL threads that deserve attentions are going down the page, getting less attention than they should.

It's about time someone made this thread. Really. If you want to post and run out of threads, just stop for the day. Don't make pointless threads that serve no purpose overall. I wanted to consult the people I thought were really fueling this problem, but I didn't have the heart to. No, I'm not naming specifics, but really...

A firm 'STOP' from a mod is really gonna help fix the junky and wastelandish threads starting up, especially you. You're one of the most respected locals. Like Singelli's said before somewhere, it's like asking when the last time you sneezed was. It's ridiculous and doesn't really deserve a topic unless sneezing is a politically important thing. It isn't.

If the IQ of the board goes down, that's a problem, may it come back or not.  We're not gonna ride the wave when it's an obvious problem that needs to be brought to attention. goodboy : Agreed. Although, maybe pointless isn't the word I should use. maybe just pointing out that they are only good for a short 30 post. So many just ask a very target question that really sparks no in depth conversation. I don't think people were understanding that that is what I meant by pointless. Ones that just encourage short 30 word answers.

There ARE loopholes. One being which rcarter is overall addressing: Posting meaningless things, but technically don't "break" a rule. Sure, they're speed posting. But that isn't a rule in and of itself. They're speed posting, or spamming, without breaking a DIRECT rule.

Barathemos : There is a HUGE loophole. Particularly, that 30 word minimum. For the past 3-4 Tour de Vizzed competitions, it has been reduced to "who can make the most 30 word posts in a day" competition. So many threads are being made where it just encourages short answers where people just try to meet 30 word minimum. Technically, if it is at least 30 words, it isn't spam according to the rules. But posts that don't break the rules can still be spammy. I remember the first 2 Tour de Vizzed competitions. The people who won not only made 90-130 posts a day, but almost all of those posts ranged in the 70+ word range. Many far more than that. People actually competed but made real contribution to discussion, not just trying to answer as many simple questions as possible. That is when I quit competing. The competition has become one where the winners are the ones who tread as close to the spam line as possible.

I lived the last 3 TDV's fully. And you are completely wrong. They were won on the blue and yellow. I remember that anyone who even came close had a good amount of points in those. Blue and Yellow. Think about it. If you win blue with 100 posts, then how many words do you need for that? About 8,000 because of the people competing just for the red. Now how many words is that? 80 each. Now take a look at the stats for the winners of the last 3 TDV's.

There have been no loopholes used in this TDV, or any of the time I have been here. The rules are just poorly used. But the last few weeks in this, have you seen any spamming? No.

Well..i think..im one of the people who are making pointless threads....(well i only made 3 threads today...i havent been making threads that much)..but sorry for the pointless threads.
