As the thread says, what do you think makes a good thread? A good title, good topic? Or just the popularity of the user? Sometimes a more detailed thread might do the trick. What do you think a good thread should have in order to reach popularity? I think it should have a good topic anyone can discuss, reliable information, and also detail to make the purpose or idea of the thread is clear so people can understand it and then post without any kind of confusion. 

I'm sure that many users will have different things that they think make a good thread, so this is where you can share what you think makes a thread awesome and popular! I think it is a good topic.

You know, I still haven't figured that out. The only threads I have ever made that got popular were the really simple ones like "What is the hardest game you have ever played." I really don't know why some threads will blow up and others just die almost as soon as they are made.

What do I think makes a thread popular?, well I think a thread that has a controversial short and sweet  and simple minded straight forward topic makes a thread become popular. By simple mined I mean in general just  threads with very little depth to them, like most of the threads in crazy house with 30+ pages of replies.

I haven't thought of this question before. I think what makes a thread popular would be a topic anyone could relate to. I would say the popularity of the user would also make a thread popular, but there are some people who aren't members or trusted that still make fine quality  threads. I'd admit some of my threads aren't very popular but usually they are. Also you have to make sure that the thread is unique and isn't some kind of dupe thread.

Well,  I think what makes a thread popular is probably the topic in most cases. I mean a topic that anyone can talk about. Nobody really wants to respond to a thread that makes them feel uncomfortable or if it requires too much time.
 Also, the creativity of the thread can affect its popularity.  So basically,  a thread that people will feel comfortable responding to which is simple and creative at the same time. 

What makes a thread popular is if the question is really simple. It is frustrating when you have a thread you worked hard on gets almost no replies, when a thread like type your user name with your nose gets hundreds of replies. One example is when I got two replies to a unique thread I made( Maybe not completely unique, but I didn't see that topic anywhere) , it was not too long, not too short, gave my experience, and asked for yes or no answers, and it bombed horribly. But yeah simple threads get popular.

Also, If it is a question thread, some people don't have the answer or their opinion for it, actually.

It is always good to choose a good topic, like "What is your favorite color" or something, lol.

I'm seeing a lot of good reasons guys, a good topic and description are both really essential for a thread to get popular, at least that is what I think a good thread needs, and it seems a lot of you agree. A unique, cool or any kind of interesting thread topic is good material to use.  Also if important/ popular uses reply, then it seems official and more people will reply which snowballs into a good, popular thread. 

Android89 : I hate it when that happens, but hopefully now during the TDV some of my threads will be getting more replies to keep them consistently active. 

I have always wanted a thread with 100 pages or more, like the ask geeo anything or the corrupt a wish thread. Those have the most if I am not mistaken.  Most replies I have had to 1 thread was 53. 

I think what makes a thread very popular is depending on what it's about, like they could be a lot of users that are interested in the topic and wants to post in it.

A topic is only popular if it's Last Person to Post

I think a topic is popular if it's a fun little game, like LPtP or the Banned game. You could also make a topic about what people's favorite type of cheese is, and that would probably become popular. Of course, there are lactose intolerant people, but hopefully they could stand that topic existing.

A successful thread needs to have a discussion topic so people can share their opinions and such. If there is a good discussion going on, people would be more likely to join in.

Although I sort of believe that it kinda depends on the topic of the thread I also believe that the time of the thread takes part of how active the threads are.

I would have to say the topic and the amount of people that are replying in the thread. A lot of conversation makes a thread popular in the New posts area.

The friends list of the user. Then more people see it, the more popular the the thread will be.

What I think makes a thread popular are quality of post or information, the number of users on at one time, where it is located on the forum (ie how many posts is it under etc) and if it gets some hits right away

Well I pretty much agree with diabeticzach, it all depends on how many people that are online at that time, in which forum it it posted and of course the topic of the thread. If it's not an interesting topic or if the information written in the first post is hard to understand, it probably wont become popular at all.

I think a good topic that's popular outside of vizzed makes a thread popular.
