Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3:The Manhattan Project

If you are anything like me, you grew up worshiping the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My wall was decorated with everything related to them. This led me to buy every Ninja Turtles game I could possibly find. The best of those I own is this, TNMT 3: The Manhattan Project. Shredder is once again up to no good, and you, as a ninja turtle are responsible for stopping him. Let get to it!

Game play

You are able to choose between any of the 4 turtles, each with a special attack (some are better than others). The attack makes things more interesting than previous installments where simply pressing the same buttons on any turtle would result in identical moves. You have a reason to chose specific turtles now! There are a variety of intractable obstacles in the game, things that damage you when you touch them, sewer lids can be hit back at enemies, my personal favorite thing to do when I was a child was to throw enemies over your head and into open areas. Numerous characters from the show make an appearance in the game. There is a level select code for those of you who have taken a liking to a specific level.

Graphics: 9
The graphics are about as good as they get for the era this game was released. It is easy to see and understand whats going on and you can easily distinguish who you are fighting as and who you are fighting with. For the day and age this game was released it truly was amazing to see something like Manhattan Island lifting into the sky. It was very well done.

Sound: 9
The sound is well done, again, I would find myself humming the tune along with the game. Undoubtedly you will hear the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song. It wasn't like other games where I found myself wanting to mute the game to stay sane while playing. The sounds made with attacks can get slightly repetitive (hence the lost point). Sound changes appropriately as you advance through the levels. The bosses have the appropriate dramatic music.

Addictiveness: 9
This game is definitely addictive. If there is a game I am likely to play again on the NES it is this one. I have beaten it numerous times and I am sure it will happen again. As a ninja turtle fan I was definitely into the game. Seeing numerous familiar villain's helped me relive my childhood over and over again. Multi player adds another level of addictiveness to the game, as playing through with your friends is simply fun.

Story: 6
There is not much to the story, but what can you expect? You are mutated turtles fighting against the evil shredder and Crang. He does something stupid (raises Manhattan) and you stop him. If you have played one you have played them all. This game is more about the action, not the story! Don't let that detract you from the awesomeness that is TMNT!

Depth: 8
There isn't much depth in this game, its fairly linear. Once you get the hang of the game (does not take long) you will have it beaten in no time. If you add another player it is that much easier. Beat em up, move on, that is all there is to it.

Difficulty: 7
The game is not nearly as difficult as the previous games. (I never beat TMNT 2). I beat this one as a child, numerous times. Some bosses are hard, but doable.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I give Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles a 9/10. This game is nostalgic, the sounds good, its not too hard, its worth playing numerous times. If you enjoy fighting games, this ones worth looking at. Even if you don't like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, do yourself a favor. Play this game, it might even change your mind about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If you do like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles you have to play this game. The modern TMNT games are horrible! Go to their roots! You will definitely not regret it. This is about as good as it gets.
My final numbers are:
Overall:9 Graphics 9   Sound 9   Addictive 9 Story 6 Depth 6 Difficulty 7

Well, I think your review is good but I know and I am sure that you can make it bigger!
Forgetting this, I like it! I like the game too, especially when I play in co-op!
