I, personally, am more fond of the Super Nintendo....but I never owned a Genesis.

Super Nintendo. It has one of the best games of their main franchises (Super Mario World, The legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past,etc.)

I grew up with the Super Nintendo. They had the best games at the time. I played Sega Genesis before and I didn't like it. The sound and music were just annoying. Some games lacked sound on The Sega Genesis such as the original Mortal Kombat. I never really played the Sonic games but I had a glimpse of them. I have to admit, the games were pretty cool. Super Nintendo had some of the memorable games such as the Donkey Kong Country series. Sega Genesis did have some really good games like Road Rash. At the time I didn't know there more Road Rash games. I had a ps1 also and played the Road Rash that was originally on the 3DO and was just insanely awesome.

In conclusion, I pick Super Nintendo

I love both systems.My first was a Sega Genesis,but my dad traded it for a play station 2 without asking me or my brother.Even though the genesis was my first,I would have to pick the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.The colors are better,the music and sound effects are way better,and the overall games just seem better.

I love both systems but super nintendo wins heads down it has the best games you got the legend of Zelda and Final fantasy.

Sega Genesis! It had Sonic, and some really amazing music!

Though, SNES had more games I liked, I grew up with Genesis, so yeah.

Lets start with this...

"Super Nintendo! Sega Genesis! When I was dead broke, man I couldn't picture this!"

Every time I hear this comparison, that lyric comes to mind. Now to actually answer the question.

SNES in my opinion has better graphics, sound quality, and games. The Gebesis had a little better controls for some games, and their "franchise icon" so to speak was Sonic. They both are good systems, but I think that because of it's superior sound, graphics, and games, I have to go with SNES.

I would say the Sega Mega Drive (european/japaense name of the genesis) because I grew up with and it's just my favorite out of the two. I do still think the Super Nintendo was a great system. As for those saying the Super Nintendo had better games and Sega Mega Drive not having that many that's simply not true. The games on the Super Nintendo were just more well known.

The Mega Drive had some great games like: Sonic the Hedgehog  1-3 & Knuckles, Vectorman, Shining Force 1 and 2, Phantasy Star 1-4, Comix Zone, Road Rash, Altered Beast, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Aladdin (which while on the SNES was better on the Genesis IMO) along with alot of other games which i'm forgetting.

And yes the SNES had more capabilities graphically but like previously mentioned these capabilities were rarely utilised to such an extent that it mattered. In the same way the Genesis had faster processing.

I own both of the game systems,so this is very easy for me. Saga genesis is better for met the control is better and the games are better. Many people won't agree with this, but it just love the genesis.

I have grown up with the Sega Genesis for a good chunk of my childhood, along with the N64. I don't know why, but it just has a charm to it for me. So does the SNES, but my money goes to Sega Genesis.

Depends if homebrew and hacks count, if yes, Genesis, if not, Super Nintendo.

Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Star Fox, Mega Man X, Earthbound, Kirby, and Super Metroid, just to name a few. SNES had more games and more polished games compared to Sega Genesis.

Sega Genesis had Shining Force (and its stellar sequel, Shining Force II), Sonic, Ristar, and a few more "great" games, but its library hardly compares with the Super Nintendo's. Also, its controllers were bulky and didn't appeal as well to the general populace. I love the Genesis controller myself, but I can't say I'd prefer it for most games that require precise input.

Super Nintendo because Earthbound. I rest my case

It's pretty amusing to me that SNES is sweeping the polls. Of course, it's what I'd expect even if I happened to like the Genesis better ( I don't.)  I bet you that nearly everyone my age or older knows what an SNES is, but I bet only half that number are familiar with the Genesis.  (Before you think I'm crazy, consider how many people probably played the SNES but aren't heavy gamers.)

Genesis, I love Sega lol, no nostalgia just prefer the horrid sound of the genesis, because genesis odes what Nintendo
