This Summer, I moved to a neighbouring city. It's close enough to my school that I could take a fifteen minute bus, plus a five minute walk (previously I just walked) or on occasion get my parents to drive me. I also live down the street, literally about five minutes of walking from another school. This other school has pretty much the same programs and stats (e.g. Math test scores) as my current school.
Basically, I have to choose if I want to rely (and pay for) on a bus most days to go to school with my friends (Of which I have few and still talk to all the time despite living even farther away) or I can go to a new school that I live practically next door to.

I made a bit of a pros and cons list to switching schools.

Pros:
-Get to meet new people
-Maintain near perfect no-lates record (this is important to me)
-Live near possible new friends
-I'm not exactly the most popular kid, although I will be missed by teachers and students alike
-I can make new friends easily
-I can still be in contact with my current friends because texting, Internet, and public transit are all things
-Don't have to rely on or pay for a bus

Cons:
-Separation from friends
-I got connections yo
-I don't really take part in clubs (although I say every year that I'll join one)
-I'll probably get lost a lot
-I don't like modern music, or sports, and I'm really nerdy: a.k.a. I don't really relate
-I'll be going into grade 11, so most people will have formed their groups, and I will only have two years before things like prom and graduation.

Honestly, I have a bit of a dilemma. I'm leaning toward switching schools, but my friends and some of my family who have switched schools before tell me about how difficult it can be.

So in reply, do two things:
1. Give some advice, should I switch schools or not, and why.
2. Give more advice, not just for me, but for other people who have to/ have a choice to switch schools, and how to cope with that.

I think it's better to stay with your current school. You're going to be considered a new kid of you switch. And like you said, most people have already formed their groups by now. While it's not a bad thing, it just seems safer that way. Plus, you already mentioned that you're going to your 11th year, so you might as well finish it.

But I think you have to ask yourself if you're happy with your current school. If the answer is yes, then there's no reason reason for you to switch. If you're unsure, then maybe it's not a bad thing to look into switching.

I think you should go, It is the best way to get new friends as you mentioned. I also agree on how much a good record is. You can not get a job with a bad reputation.

I think changing schools would give you a new experience and let you meet new people.

Experiencing something different and new at a younger age is a good things... besides, you save 30min a day! That's 2.5 hours a week.

This decision is honestly entirely yours to make not ours.
There seems to be more pros than cons so go for it but if you are gonna miss your friends alot than don't change.
One decision may or may not impact your life choosing is pretty hard though I would stay at the school.

First, thanks to everyone who posted. While it was my choice to make, I like to hear other people's opinions and perspectives-- fresh minds and all that.

Second, I decided to go to this new school. I've been going there for like, three weeks now and I really like it. Not talking to my old friends isn't a huge deal because we text all the time, plus I have new friends to talk to, and different events and different schools makes for great conversation. While I do miss seeing my friends face to face every day, I'm pretty much a smash hit with other kids at the school, and I always have something to do at lunch and someone to talk to in class. It turns out that sometimes a guy who can tell the group about random trivia can fit in almost anywhere.

For future people with similar dilemmas, I definitely recommend switching
if you are a social person who doesn't mind meeting new people (such as myself), but if you have social anxiety or you have a lot of super close friends at your current school, consider staying. I know that some of my old friends who are more reclusive than I are taking my move harder than I am, so I can't imagine how they would feel if they moved away.

Thanks again to everyone who replied and good luck to anyone else facing the same problem I had.

I personally wouldn't change schools because I hate any kind of change. I get really nervous when I don't know what to do or where to go or who to talk to. I'm a really shy person but I bet no one in real life would see me as one. Let's say I'm just a really good actor.....

jasonZed : Good to hear that you're happy with your new school!
I'll post this to other people in the same situation that you were ^^
I've been in six different schools, so I have quite much experience of changing schools.
If you're about to change schools and you're not certain that you will ''fit in'', if you think that there may be a huge difference between you and those who go to that school, you probably should not switch to that school.
For example, one of the schools I went to were in a really posh neighborhood, the kids there were of course really snobby. And me, who comes from a quite poor family didn't fit in at all, I got bullied from day one. I went to that school for two and a half year and it was horrible, the whole school called me names and bullied me, the ones who didn't bully me completely ignored me, including the teachers. So if you're about to switch schools, and you want to be sure (of course you can never be completely sure) that you wont be bullied, you have to think about what kind of people that lives nearby. Are they people similar to you?  If not it's probably not a good idea, if you're not willing to take a risk of course.
If you have many friends in the school that you're attending to it could really be worth not switching. Especially not if you suspect that the class you're switching to already have formed their groups, as mentioned above. If you don't have a great talent in making friends it can be hard to break those groups, even for me (I have really easy to make friends) it's incredibly hard.
The good things about switching schools is that you meet new people, you can make new friends and perhaps find your special someone (you can never know ;P) And I've even noticed that, even though I've been bullied in most of the schools I've been going to, even out of that something good has come. I've learned much about how different people function, I've also learned a lot about different social groups.
I have a thousand more things to say about this subject so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask and I'll answer them. ^__^

I have the ultimate answer that will surely please everybody.

You should live a double life and go to both schools! Yeah! And then you can go one day to one school and the next day to the other school. The teachers and principals would catch up on it, so you better pick which one to stay with!

I'm kidding. Maybe. I'd rather just stay with the one I have, if given the chance. (I home school
