Hello everyone! I beat Kirby's Adventure a while ago so I thought "why not do a review?" Here I am ready to give my opinion on this game; if you don't see things this way, that's fine. But enough of me babbling, let's begin the review!
Graphics: The graphics for Kirby's Adventure are detailed, colorful, polished, and beautiful. Most NES games, you couldn't make out what something was and what something wasn't. In this game, you can tell what EVERYTHING is! If the Kirby characters were based on real animals (only a few are), you could just go "hey, that's a fox," or "hey, that's a bat." The graphics themselves can actually be humorous as well, like Kirby's face when he loses a life, or the picture for the fire ability; you can't help but laugh. I'm giving graphics ten (10)!
Sound: The soundtrack from this game is just amazing! All of the tracks are catchy, all of them are used in the right situation, and I only find one of them to be repetitive (if you beat the game from start to finish, you know what I mean). If you had to make a countdown for 8-bit tunes, you should be able to get at least one music piece from this game to that list. I'm giving Soundtrack another ten (10)!
Addictiveness: This game is very addictive. There are mini-games that give you extra lives and a little replay ability. There are a whole bunch of secret doors in this game and if you find a big switch in that secret door, than you can unlock more mini game doors and warp star rooms (which I'll explain later). But the main reason that I'm giving this a high addictiveness is because the minute that I beat the game, I just had to play the game from start to finish AGAIN. Yes, I wanted (and I did) to play the game from start to finish and beat the final boss. I can't explain it, but I did. Addictiveness gets yet another ten (10)!
Story: Probably the only flaw of this game. Before I begin, you can access the plot by waiting on the title screen for a while, (wait for the demo to end and you'll be rewarded with the plot). So dreamland is known for having wonderful dreams (duh), but it hasn't had any dreams for a while, so Kirby goes out to investigate. Later, Kirby finds King Dedede splitting up the Star Rod (the source of dreams) and giving it to his friends. Now Kirby has to go beat up Dedede's minions and friends, then go put the Star Rod back onto the fountain of dreams. And to think that you had to go through so much trouble for that little plot. Plot only gets a one (1).....
Depth: This game has a ton of depth! There's the main story mode where you go through 7 worlds of madness. There's the mini-games that replenish your health and can give you extra lives (if you're good enough). There's Crane Fever (the crane machines in real life), Quick Draw, where you need to press the A button in literally the exact millisecond they say fire, and egg catcher, where you have to try to eat eggs without eating bombs. After you beat the game, you can do a boss rush (though you can't heal, can't choose an ability at the start, and if you die, you have to start the boss rush from the beginning). If you can manage to beat the game and find every single secret door, you can play hard mode, where you can only take three hits instead of six. Trust me, you are going to have a hard time beating hard. Depth gets a ten (10)
Difficulty: This game is very difficult; there are well placed enemies, well placed obstacles, and levels are long and tedious. Sometimes, they combine multiple factors like having enemies that chase you in a place where its windy and you have to fly (it's slow). I'm giving difficulty an eight (8)!
Overall, I give this game a 9.8! On a more personal note, I only like one game more than this (and it's not Super Mario Bros. 3). See you next time on my next review! |
