Lavender town is a really creepy place for a children's game. The town is based on death unlike the creatures battling and knocking each other out and there is some strange rumors like buried alive, the white hand, and the theme music for the town. Even though none of these are true it still makes me wonder from later games why put so much about death and hatred toward kids. I mean look at all the pokedex entries and many are about soul stealing,death, and creepy things. Other than Lavender town Pokemon Red is a really good game and you must catch M twice or the save will go all crazy. Anyway go and catch them all

The only reason you think this whole thing is creepy is because you read a creepypasta, one that wasn't very logical. The U.S cant keep itself out of other peoples business. Multiple kids killing themselves and having other adverse reactions to a game is something we would cover. That was off topic, but I wanted to say it.

Well, that was the old times. Now things have gotten better and now it is not so bad. Sure it was bad for kids back then, but now it is not that bad.

I liked the aspect of creepiness. It gave the game a dark feel, made it better than some of the childishness that most of Pokemon exhibited. It was definitely more deep than some of the stuff you see in the games today, or most definitely deeper than the pile of crap that is the Pokemon anime.

Ohh and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Japanese Culture due to the fact how culture heavy the game actually is.

I do not think there is anything wrong with Lavender Town. If I am not mistaken, that is just where all the ghost and gas type Pokémon are, right? Those types can come in handy later on down the road, so to speak. XD

Actually, let's think about the ethnicities of the people who make these Pokemon games, or more specifically, Japanese culture.

While Lavender Town (along with many of the creepy Ghost type Pokedex entries, but come on...THEIR GHOSTS, they're supposed to be scary) qualifies as creepy pasta or horror, Kanto is based off of a region of Japan like the other games in the series. I'm getting to my point, so hold your horses.

Lavender Town exists because the Japanese hold quite a lot of respect for the dead, they honor them, and build shrines in their remembrance.

Does Lavender Town make more sense now, hmm?



Off-Topic Note: The same thing goes for the Japanese and FF6/FF10. Many Japanese are born Shinto, have Christian weddings, and have Buddhist rites and funerals, so they take in religion differently. The Japanese (during earlier periods in history, when foreigners came to Japan) refused to convert to Christianity, because it clashed with their people, culture, and even the way the Emperor ruled. Now, it makes sense why FF6 is so anti-religion, and FF10 treats organized religion as something big and evil.

Please the gary's rattata was just a rumor and isn't real just a rumor.The buried alive was completely optional and no way a child could make it that far in the game if he did he may or may not even have known it was there and 1/10 chance a child would even battle buried alive.But I do agree with making the ratings to mature that buried alive nonsense was pretty uncalling for but it was that one employees fault so don't blame all of nintendo and gameshark because of that one employee.

When I played Pokémon red/blue/yellow, I dint give lavender town a second thought because Pokémon die and since most Pokémon have strong bonds with their trainers and they were well respected by their trainer... I just assumed that there would be a spot where they would bury them. I think you just read too many creepy pastas. I do confess that the "cubone's mother getting kill" thing was pretty depressing and the fact that you had to beat its angry spirit was also pretty creepy... Who knows? Maybe that's why they did away with lavender towns main purpose in Gen 2 (If you hadn't play Gen 2 they turned it into a radio station).
