I've been playing Pokémon Light Platinum for a few weeks now and I've gone pretty far in the game but I've encountered a glitch that is preventing me from progressing and may mean I'll have to start my game again!

I'm trying to get into Mt. Vulcan but there's a trainer blocking the entrance EVEN THOUGH I've already fought the Professor. Normally, once you've fought the Professor the trainer will move and you'll be able to go into Mt. Vulcan but this has not happened to me and now I can't do anything!

Is there anything that can be done to get passed this glitch?

Really? Have you tried googling it? I never had that problem if you are trying to catch legendaries I beat the trainer and I was able to get through. What does the trainer there say when you talk to them? I think this is where heatran and groudon are located, correct? So then did you beat steven at snowce city, that is how you unlock groudon and did you beat Shinora in Noormeak in lauren? That is how you unlock heatran. This is weird, I never had this happen to me. Just do that if you haven't already and tell me if this problem progresses, this is just weird how that happened, if you did that then they should have moved. Maybe you have to beat both trainers at that same location for them to move. Hope this helps, good luck!

Razor-987 : No it's nothing to do with catching legendaries. I need to get into the cave to find the gym leader and give them a repel to get rid of all the Pokemon in the town.

What kind of repel did you give them, I am sure they need a certain one, I think it is max repel and not super or a regular one, is that the problem you have been having? Is this the part in flamnery where the arons are blocking everything and you need to give the trainer a repel? Just give them the repel they asked for, I think that is max repel, try that one, if the problem still progresses, let me know. I just think that is weird, I  never had this issue, did the professor that told you the type of repel they needed leave too? Just try max repel and see if they let you in.

Razor-987 : You're still not understanding me. I CAN'T GET INTO MT. VULCAN. There is a trainer blocking the entrance. It's my understanding that after defeating the professor in that town you'd be able to get into Mt. Vulcan to find the Gym Leader to give them the repel. But I can't. Because I CAN'T GET INTO MT. VULCAN.

Well you can try to Save your Game and Restart it.
And if that doesn't work, then I think you must start a new Game.

Well, all I have on glitches is that you can't  use regular game saves only save states and load states. Regular saving causes a lot of glitches, and yes I've had this before, save states cause events to restart and some cause your game to screw up (For example: the aron continue to block the 4th city in Lauren region even after you gave the gym leader the super repel.)  

libbylue : i have about the same problem only i wasn't allowed to fight pearl in the woods and professor ellie never shows up in flamerny city so i can't get past the security guard going into mt vulcan. any suggestions?

I have beaten the Lauren league, so I am trying to catch Heatran, but the security guard is blocking the way to Mt. Vulcan.. I beat Cynthia in Noormeak City, so it should be unlocked already.

I know how to help. It's a re-do glitch which I manage to overcome. 

Firstly, return to Carmin town, then go to Professor Ellie's lab. Get a starter (you'll be able to keep another starter. Choose a different one than the one you first pick). After the rivals leave the lab, immediately re-battle the rivals on their perspective routes: the girl, in route 507; the red-hair dude, in route 502; Gold in Mt. Lauren. after battling the red-hair rival, you'll see Rochelle, the rock type gym leader back in the mine, talk to her in the mine, then to the refinery and she goes back into her gym and do nothing else but fly to Lendyn town (after you battle gold of course). 

You'll see that the Steam grunts will be back into positions and again, heading to Kosaka city. Go to Kosaka city and head to the gym. You will see Lucy, coming out of the gym again and heading to Sky Tower. Go to the last floor of sky tower and re-battle team steams leader. After events repeating itself again, head back to the gym and battle your red-hair rival again. Once the battle is over, head to Flamerny Woods. Walk all the way to the exit of the woods and you'll battle your female rival again. Once done, WALK to Flamerny city and Professor Ellie will be standing there!

It took me a while to figure out. Some youtube videos or forums here aren't able to help me. I panicked and I thought of restarting my game, but until I've explored the place well enough, I searched Carmin town and realize there's a total glitch of re-battles and re-do's. You can randomly fix the events, but I'd rather you go chronologically starting from battling your female rival to prevent confusion. Sorry if I was late helping out. I'm really new here and Light Platinum is a great game.

Hm...first of all, how is the glitch performed, and how often is it?

Many people say it is due to in-game saving. I do not know why...for me, I have to in-game save. F2 saves do not maintain the save state for me. In result of that, I am prone to get two replay glitches every play through, and it usually is in both regions. 

I am pretty sure you yourself cannot activate the glitch, there is no secret way of doing that. 

How often is it? As I said, usually about two or even three times the whole game. It usually catches up to you when you are trying to catch all the legendaries. 

And yes, as JoshFelix said, just go through the whole mini-event again, hence the term "replay". It can be tedious at times, but it may offer more (free) exp. 

Did you beat the Pokemon league?

Lol, I actually encountered a glitch where when I was doing one of my E4 practice runs for the Lauren League, I was actually fighting the Zhery Leage leaders instead...they teleported! Jk. Anyways, I didn't even notice, because I forgot what those leaders had in the first place, but then when I played the next day after my training sessions, I encountered the real Lauren E4. In a sense, it was nice, because my Pokes were the same level(s), most a little higher than the levels of the Zhery E4 Pokémon, so my training sessions were easy, which wasn't planned, but it still helped me. 

Other than those training sessions, I usually will beat the E4 in one try, maybe two if I mess up somewhere - this is when I do try though, not counting my training sessions. I can't defeat the E4 with one Poke lol...strengths and weaknesses!
