Zelda 2 Shadow of Night is a great hack which adds: New music, new graphics, new areas and much more!
Overall I would rate this hack a 5 because the hack adds some new stuff but it's a bit cheap at the same time. Also I'm not much of a NES Zelda guy anyway so that puts it down to a 5.
For the graphics, I rated it a 7 because there are some good custom graphics like custom link and more but I haven't spotted lots of them yet.
For the sound rating, I gave it an 8 because they brought some music from the original game (Zelda 1) and they remixed some music like the cave/battle theme.
I rated it a big 10 for the addictive rating because like almost all games, I would definitely play it again and hopefully complete it. So far I am at the first temple. Reply with some tips and hints please.
For the story, I also given it a 10 because the story is great! Ganondorf summons an ominous shadow over Hyrule and Link goes to kill him. Also I'm assuming that Gannon kidnapped Zelda as well.
Depth: 5 because the game offers a moderate amount of things and I haven't got that far yet so I don't know much about how many items or dungeons/temples there is.
For the difficulty, I give it a 7 because just like in Zelda 2 itself, the caves are pitch black so you can't see the enemies and they can sneakily hurt you. Also the temples are hardened.
Wrap things up:
More Stuff!
More Zelda!

Not a bad little review, but I would have liked to have seen a tiny bit more information about the game personally, maybe a small plot for people who have never played this particular Zelda game before.

I have played the thing for quite a bit but still have not gotten very far. I have cleared the first dungeon/palace.
The second or third Dungeon/Palace requires you to leave 1/2 way through due to an item puzzle. You need an item you get later in the game.

I cleared the first graveyard section with another puzzle that requires back-tracking.
By the point I cleared half the second Graveyard Puzzle I was exhausted and needed a break.

I spent two weekends on the thing before taking a long break.
I recommend taking a note here or there. Printing screen shots to take the notes. And devising a system for keeping track of what you have or have not done.

It takes all of the stuff that was not very fun in Zelda 2 and creates a new spin on things.
What made the Stuff work for the original Zelda 2 game was that everyone with your age group had Hints or Tricks to share. (Its how I cleared the magic Jar Quest. By word of mouth.)
This game???
Hardly anyone bothered with it.
Again I may finish it some time and do a review after I complete it.

Check my screen shots for hints and clues On the Zelda Shadow of Night Shot list.

Enjoy.

Good Luck To All.
Peace.
