Yeah, I'm sad because there's an HM move taught to my starter now even halfway of the game. I know that HM's cannot be removed, so I'm asking, is there any way to avoid this? If there is, I'm gonna restart so that Axew won't learn such a bad move.

It's actually a good replacement for Scratch. It has better accuracy and attack power. So Axew with Cut is very useful, but that's just me.

There is no way that I know of to avoid teaching axew that Hm but just as a previous member has mentioned it is actually useful in the beginning better than scratch.
It gets useless over time but you should meet the move deleter right before that happens.

Not too sure if it's relevant to HM01 (Cut), but I stupidly taught my Fraxure surf and was not allowed to delete it at the move deleter. I later withdrew my lapras from my pc and taught it surf and Fraxure happily forgot it. I tried testing the "You can't delete it unless another knows it" idea but Charizard happily forgot fly and Arbok forgot strength without issue. Just something to think about...

Are you sure you can't catch another Pokémon in the beginning and teach cut, like an HM slave or something? 

I haven't played this game, so I am unsure whether or not you have the ability to catch anything yet.
