Hello all! I am fairly new to this website and have to say, I am so far very impressed. My problem is that while playing Pokémon: Fire Red, I saved exclusively using the in game menu; after accidentally knocking out a legendary Pokémon, I reloaded the game using F4 in the hope that I could start from my previous save point. Unfortunately I was set back from my 40 hr play time back to hour number 2 of my game. I closed the browser hoping it would forget what I did but no go.  Does anyone know of a way I can recover my progress? Thanks for any and all suggestions. This incident aside, I love the site and wish I had found it sooner....

Welcome to vizzed Coolsea!  I hope that your ventures here have been fun, and that you haven't had too many problems!  Also, you should post around the forum more often and make some friends.  *hint hint, nudge nudge*

As for your questions, I'm very sorry to tell you that it is
not possible in any way to recover that lost progress.  It is generally advised that you ONLY save using exclusively F2, and that you start up your save file with F4.  Saving within the game is often glitchy and causes problems.  That being said, if you do save within the game, you'd also open the saved game using the menu within the game itself.

I've actually heard that you can get two copies of the game this way:  You can save one game IN the game, and you can save another game using the F2, F4 method.  I'm not sure if that's true though, since I've never tried it myself.  Regardless, the two methods of saving do not work in conjunction.

I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope you can muster the courage to go through the game again!  Hey, it just means more experience and fun, right?

Good luck and God bless you!

Thank you Singelli. That stinks but it is in fact the only problem I have encountered. I'll just play some Zelda and work out which Pokemon game I want to try next. Honestly, I'm just glad to have closure. lol. Thank you.

O.K. Only thing I can think of is this: are you on a different computer?

Some advise. snes games support more than one save state (I think 10) so you can save in lots of different places. To get to the save states you will have to go to the menu for the snes. Just press esc on your keyboard. Then I don't remember exactly where it is.

thing1 :
The question was already answered and had nothing to do with different computers.  If you had read the post and my response, you might have known that.  I hope that you didn't post in here solely for the sake of the VCS, because that would be considered spamming...

Anyways, I'm going to close this because the questions is answered and I don't want this thread being spammed for the sake of post count.

Coolsea, you're welcome for the closure.  Have fun with whatever game you have next!  If you have any further questions, just pm me!
