I use a desktop whenever I can. When it's occupied, I use my 3ds or my mom's kindle fire.

I use a desktop, because it upgradable, and they don't overheat or need to be charge like a laptop. Plus a laptop isn't made for gaming which is what I mainly use my desktop for.

And my Mom's laptop is tiny, and works really slowly. Neither laptop is good for any gaming, which I use a lot. I only use a laptop if the desktop isn't being used. It's more comfortable to me. But now I use my tablet sometimes (so awful ) and, as a last resort, I'll use a 3ds.

I tend to get stuck with the laptop and the wife has stolen my desktop.  They each have their uses though.  I like having the portability of the laptop for school and vacations.  Desktops tend to be higher end with a lot more gaming power to bring to bear (or at least the potential to have that).  I'll be getting another desktop here after a while though ... I miss mine

My laptop is barely strong enough to do different things that normally a desktop can do, but I prefer it due to it's mobility. I do plan on getting my own desktop in the future because it definitely is more powerful than a laptop and for a person who likes to do video editing or play higher quality games and movies, this would be beneficial.

The last time I checked, laptops are computers (a bit of a typo in your post title). I use a laptop most of the time, but I'm on my desktop quite a bit too. Mostly for playing high system requirement games. I use my Compaq Portable for MS-DOS and BASIC programs (anything made before 1987).

I'm using a Samsung laptop right now but I want to save up and build a gaming pc. I mainly play games like LOL or RoM, but, I do enjoy the occasional minecraft session. Although, I am starting to take an interest in animation so maybe I'll keep this for that purpose when I finally save up enough for a tower and monitor.

A $1,000 computer would be like a $2000 laptop. If you were going to just use it for school then yes a laptop will probably suit you better. Also I noticed you said you can't get wifi on a desktop which is also untrue, on my current desktop it has a built in wifi adapter and can reach not only my wifi but like 6 other people's wifi on my block. If I really wanted to I could lay in my bed and play on my desktop because my monitor is a 32 inch flat screen tv and I can just use a wireless keyboard and mouse.
