Celebi and Mew are two fairly weak legendaries, but both are pretty much unobtainable without hacking. It's a thought, but I don't think it's worth it

they'll probably reuse lugia and ho-oh for the g&s remakes. remember, charzard was used for fire red, and leaf green had a venusaur (although there was never a green before that).

I think it should because it is one of the legendaries extremely hard to obtain. Besides, in g/s eterna forest(i think it is eterna forest in johto) had a protector(celebi) but celebi never appears or anything. I think that is pretty stupid.

The main reasoning behind the mascots for the games is because they are the signature Pokemon you catch in the game.

I agree with DH hear. I mean if somebody would make Celebi a mascot, the people who prefer pokemon that look tough will be put off buying the game and visa versa. So using the legendaries for the games is a good even ground.
