This is going to be a 100% walkthrough until the elite 4. Please note that the pokemon you can catch are the ones from pokemon leaf green. Everything else (story, events) applies to both pokemon leaf green and pokemon fire red. If I made a mistake please tell me and I will gladly edit it. Next update I will add route 22. Pallet Town: Pallet Town is the place you start the game. Pallet Town is Kind of boring. Two houses, a river, flowers, and a laboratory. At first you are in your room. All you can do is play your nes or go down stairs. Once down there talk to your mom. She will say her good byes and then you can leave. Next you have to leave town to start your adventure right? Well kind of. When you try to leave you will get stopped by professor Oak and he will take you back to his lab. Apparently he doesn't think you will do well if you have no Pokémon. After Oak yells at his grandson , insert rivals name here, you can pick a Pokémon. You can pick either a fire type Charmander, a water type Squirtle, or a Grass type Bulbasaur. Pick whichever one you want, but I normally pick Squirtle or Bulbasaur because they can beat the first gym easiest. Your rival will pick the pick the Pokémon that's type is effective against yours. If you pick a Squirtle he will pick a Bulbasaur, if you pick a Charmander he will pick a squirtle, and if you pick a bulbasaur he will pick a Charmander. Next he will battle you. Ahhhh. No DO NOT panic. My strategy for this fight is to use a status effect move first (growl, tail whip) then keep attacking. You should beat him,but it is possible to lose. Now you can leave. There is a lot of stuff in this town. Just a few more tips. Talk to your mom and she will heal your Pokémon. This isn't very helpful unless you are training in route 1 or route 21. Talk to your rivals sister after you get a Pokedex and she will give you a map. This can be one of the most useful items in the game. After you beat the elite 4 your rivals sister will offer to groom your Pokémon. This helps strengthen your friend ship with your Pokémon. She will also tell you what your friendship is. Route 1: First route of the game already! This is the simplest route you will ever find It. It connects Pallet town and Viridian city. Pokémon: Pidgey level 2-5: I would recommend this Pokémon to first time players or until the second gym. This is a good Pokémon to use for the whole game Rattata level 2-4; meh this Pokémon is ok This route is going to get annoying traveling through. There is a lot of tall grass (where you fight wild Pokémon normally) and ledges you can't jump over. Luckily you can use the ledge trying to get to pallet town from Viridian city. The only event in the route is a pokemart employee. He will once give you a free sample potion. This is a helpful item, but you can only use it once to restore 20 hp. If you don't want to train just pass through this route. Although I would recommend it. Viridian City: Hopefully you took my advice and trained. You should be at level 5-7. At first you might see a pokemon gym.Sadly it isn't open. It will open up when you beat the other 7 gyms. Besides the pokemon will be too strong to handle. Right now you can explore the town a bit or continue the adventure. The town has a gym (like I said before you can't enter it), a poke-mart, and a pokemon center. Let me explain these new buildings if you don't know what they do. Pokemon Center: This handy building is where you can heal your pokemon. They are spread out throughout the world so hopefully you wont lose. In the top floor there are some people who will let you battle with other people. If you had the real game you can do this, but you can't here. Poke-mart: This is another good place to visit. Here the employee will sell you a variety of items. This poke-mart sells you Antidote for 100-this item removes poison status affect if one of your pokemon has it Poke balls 200-this lets you catch pokemon Paralyze heal 200-this removes paralysis from one pokemon potion 300-this heals 20 hp Pokemon Gym: This is the place where you fight gym leaders. Once you fight them you progress through the story and they give you a helpful item. Now that I'm done explaining lets continue the story. Go into the poke-mart and talk to the employee. He will give you Oaks parcel. You need to take that item back to Professor Oak. When you take it back to Oak. When you give it to Oak he will give you the Pokedex, an item that keeps track of the pokemon you seen and caught, and 5 poke-balls. Next go to your rivals house and talk to his sister. She will give you the town map. That is a very useful item if you don't know where to go. When you go back to Viridian a man will be standing on the road. If you explored before he would of been laying down and wouldn't let you go through. Now if you talk to him he will let you through and he will give you the teachy tv. This item shows you how to catch pokemon. Route 22 Wild Pokemon Rattata level 2-5 Mankey level 2-5 Spearow level 3 or 5 Fishing Rod Old rod Magicarp level 5 Good Rod Poliwag level 5-15 Magicarp level 5-15 Goldeen level 5-15 Super rod Poliwag level 15-25 Poliwhirl level 20-30 Gyrados level 15-25 Slowpoke level 15-25 DO NOT go into route 22 yet. Read this first. In route 22 your rival is waiting for you. He will have a level 9 pidgey and a level 9 starter. This battle can be tough if you don't prepare. To take care of his pidgey I would recommend going into the Viridian Farest and catching a Picachu. The chance of catching a Pikachu is 5%, but it will be worth it if you plan on keeping the Pikachu, but don't waste time if you wont keep it. If you are not going to get a Pikachu catch a rattata or a Pidgey. This will help even the odds of winning. Your starter should be effective againts your rivals so don't worry. Also you should still have a potion to use in emergencies. Now that you are ready fight your rival walk down route 22.. If you prepared he should be easy. If you didn't it might not. The battle doesn't have much to talk about in it. After you win you can check Victory road, but they wont let you in until you get all 8 badges Pokedex 1: Bulbasaur – grass- poison 2.Ivysaur – grass - poison 3. Venasaur – grass - poison 4.Charmander - fire 5. Charmeleon - fire 6. Charzard – fire - flying 7. Squirtle - water 8. Wartortle - water 9. Blastoise - water 10. Caterpie - bug Pallet Town: Pallet Town is the place you start the game. Pallet Town is Kind of boring. Two houses, a river, flowers, and a laboratory. At first you are in your room. Good...... though I don't play Pokemon much anymore, this is a pretty good walkthrough. Also, I usually grind in that route so I don't have a horrible time later. Training is good, people. Also, I usually grind in that route so I don't have a horrible time later. Training is good, people. |

Mother3fan5 : I do it on the first route so my pokemon are ready for the next ones. Thanks Mobouis1: I don't really train a lot. Only when I'm under leveled. Thanks for a good comment. Mobouis1: I don't really train a lot. Only when I'm under leveled. Thanks for a good comment. |

speedy gonzalez : Thanks! austinpokedude: Thank you too! Here is another update to the walkthrough. I thought the first post would get too big if I put the entire walkthrough there. So I’m splitting it up into big chunks. In this update we will go through route 2 and the viridian forest, beat the Pewter city gym leader Brock, then go through route 3, Mt. Moon, and route 4, and finally finish Cerulean city! I spent a lot of extra time making this part. In my next ones I might not have what Pokémon each trainer has and my tables might not be as neat. Also I need to edit this too remove my layout. Route 2 Right now this route is pretty useless. All it does is connect Viridian city and Pewter city. Right now just go into the Viridian forest unless you want to catch a Pokémon or train. Wild Pokémon Grass Rattata level 3-5 Pidgey level 3-5 Caterpie level 4-5 Weedle level 4-5 Some things to do later When you get the move cut you can cut down the little tree blocking you from going to the right of the map. After you cut down the tree you can do some interesting things. You can trade a Pokémon named Abra for a Mr. Mime. This is good if you want to fill up your pokedex. When you have at least 10 Pokémon in your pokedex you can talk to one of Professor Oak’s assistants and he will give you a move called flash. This move will brighten dark caves so you can see! There are also some items here. They are a Paralyze heal and an Ether. I would save the ether for later. One last thing you can do is go through Diglett’s cave. This quick path will take you all the way to Vermillion city. Too bad you can only access it when you get cut which is in Vermillion city. Viridian forest This is the first actual challenge in this game. If you are prepared it shouldn’t be that hard. First off you might want to catch a Pikachu. This will be a loyal companion throughout the game. I would only switch this Pokémon if I found a really good electric Pokémon or if I wanted to use Zapdose. I would recommend having at least 2 Pokémon level 7 and up. Now just walk through the forest until you get to the end. There will be a few easy trainer battles and maybe some wild Pokémon battles. When you get out just walk through route 2 to Pewter City. There are some items here too Potion x2 Antidote Poke Ball Wild Pokémon Caterpie level 3-5 Weedle level 3-5 Kakuna level 5 Metapod level 4-6 Pikachu level 3-5 Pewter City Pewter city is the most exciting town so far. First I’m going to say what you have to do then the things you don’t. Here is what it looks like First head to the pokemon center and heal your Pokémon. Then go to the poke mart and stock up on potions. Next go to the very first Pokémon gym. Inside you will fight a trainer and the gym leader Brock. Brock isn’t hard unless you picked a Charmander. If you picked a Charmander the Pokémon Mankey can help you a lot. You can get it on route 22. Brock has two Pokémon, A level 12 Geodude and a level 14 Onix. They are both rock and ground type Pokémon. Just attack and heal when necessary. And congrats! You won your first gym battle! When you leave the gym a man will give you a present form your mom. It is the running shoes. This handy item lets you run around. Definitely beats walking right. After you beat the gym there are some more things you can do. You can go to the Pokémon museum and learn about pokemon. It costs 50 poke bucks to ener. Really there isn’t much of a point. If you want to enter you can just pay the fee or use save before you go in. Later when you get the move cut you can do two more things. You can cut down the tree and go inside the house next to the museum. Don’t worry there isn’t a fee to go there. Inside the house you can talk to a scientist and he will give you an old amber item. Team rocket ransacked a house and you need to stop them. Before you stop them you need to go up across the bridge. There is also a berry powder trainer. He will trade berry powder you have for items. You get berry powder by playing a game via multiplayer. Since you are playing the game here you can’t do that, but if you have the real game and game boy you can. You can also trade a Poliwhirl for a Jynx. Oh and why don’t you stop in the bike shop and buy a bike for 1,000,000 poke bucks! Wait a second, you don’t have enough don’t you. That’s because you never will. But in vermillion city you can get a bike voucher and get a bike for free! Later you can also go into the cerulean cave. Inside you will find mazes and the legendary pokemon… MEWTWO! Sadly you can only enter it at the end of the game. Don’t forget to come back here! After you done everything go up across the bridge. Route 24 and 24 When you start off there are a lot of trainers. Take them out one by one and you will be rewarded with a nugget. This item can be sold for a lot of money at the pokemart. Next to the left of the bridge there is some tall grass. Inside the grass there is a Pokémon called Abra. This pokemon will evolve into the powerful Alakazam later on. I usually try to catch one. Be warned they are extremely had to catch. They will run away from you first turn and you can’t put it to sleep. There are also some other Pokémon in the grass and water. Next get every item you can find and fight the rest of the trainers. Then go into Bill’s house. He turned himself into a Pokémon by accident. When you help him he will give you the S.S ticket.
