PS2 were still in production! I was quite surprised when I heard that PS2 were still in production.

That being sad its quite sad to know that the PS2 is no longer being produced. I remember playing Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, and a whole multitude of other games on my PS2. Those were the good old days.

I bet that the price of PS2s on Amazon jumped after this news. Similar to how the price of Twinkies skyrocketed when Hostess closed down.

Personally I kinda doubt that the price jumped up that much when they announced this. Mainly because current estimates say that 153.68 million PS2's were sold. Only outranked by the Nintendo DS.

So given the huge flood they have on the market I doubt their price will go up anytime soon. I mean it might have gotten a little bump, but not much.

It's different than the Twinkies thing, twinkles are something that is perishable (theoretically) that people consume.

They should have stopped years ago, I rarely saw new releases for the PS2 so I wonder why people were still buying them.

Just to let you know the Atari 2600 was the longest lasting console. It started in 1977, and ended in 1992, giving it a 15 year lifespan. Its insane, but its true.

Kind of sad to see actually but it's very understandable that production ended. Just have to take care of my ps2 and look forward to great newer generation consoles.

Wow, that is really neat how long these consoles lasted! I really don't use my PS2 anymore, well for the past 3 years.
