Hello everyone, it's your host Laian with another walkthrough. Before we start this walkthrough and you say "Wait, what? Two walkthroughs this month? What the hell, Laian?", let me explain why I wanted to make another one. The walkthrough of The Sword of Hope took so long that I felt a bit ashamed of that. So I decided to make another walkthrough, a short one, in order to fix this delay. I also wanted you to guess which game it will be. No one answered sadly. Well, I don't know if you have noticed the hint in the last walkthrough but there was a good reward for the one who had the solution to my riddle. Oh well, now it's too late because I published it so it's not funny anymore

Now, about this walkthrough: it's the first game I played when I was a kid. I never beat this game before. I was a stupid child (probably... ). So, let's say it's some sort of revenge gotten after all those years of pain and despair. This game, as you can see, is Alex Kidd in Miracle World. There was at that time a specific offer. The game was included with the system. It wasn't necessary to purchase a physical copy of the game because you could play the game if you turned the system on, which was cool. And, at that time, games were somewhat expensive. That means, with my grand brother, we played this game because it was free and included with the system. We tried to beat the game on our own but we failed. You'll see during this walkthrough where and why. So, enough talk, let's go on a fabulous journey, shall we? The journey of Alex Kidd in Miracle World!!!



STAGE 1: THE MOUNTAIN

This level has two parts. During the first part, you need to go down, avoiding or killing some creatures on your way. Break some star blocks in order to get some gold. The first surprise block contains a magical ring. Take it, it might be useful later. This item grants you the power of shockwaves, which is handy if you want to break some straight lines of blocks. A bit further, you’ll see another surprise block. Don’t break it, there’s a ghost inside (1). If you free this creature, run away as soon as possible because this dummy is invincible. Even the magical ring can’t kill it so the only remaining option is the coward option (as known as “run away like a little p****!!!” ). Keep going down collecting the gold you can take, don’t step on the purple block with a yellow skull on it or you’ll awake another ghost (2). I suggest you to go to the right, break the rocks, then go down, kill the creature and jump over the block. It’s easier than taking the bag of gold and probably fall down, right on the purple block. Now go down, collect some gold and go down until you reach the underwater. Now you have to go to the east, collecting all the gold you can take and killing the creatures of the deep blue sea. Also, get used of poor Alex Kidd attracted by the surface of the water and use the down arrow of your directional pad. What else should I say about this underwater part? Ah yes, the fish to the left at the beginning of this underwater part might be a pain if you want to collect the gold inside the star block. As you can see, he takes two lines and the hit box of Alex Kidd will automatically react and then you will die horribly. You can get this bag of gold if you move carefully and instantly hit the fish with your punch. It’s tough, I admit, but it’s possible. Also, the piranha at the end of the level might be deadly if you are careless because he goes up and down, from the left to the right and vice versa. But compared to the fish, this enemy is not really hard. And finally, don’t hit the mysterious block below the ball of rice or else you’ll meet Mister Ghost. Break the stone and eat the ball of rice to end the first level.

STAGE 2: THE PLAINS

This level is really linear, however you have two ways to reach the end: by feet or using a vehicle. This is one of those stages in the game; there will be more like this one later. You start in front of a shop. You can buy a magical ring, a mysterious box (this item makes you invincible for a short period of time) and a bike. Purchase what you need and go back outside. The only good thing with the bike, well it makes the level funnier and cooler than by feet. However, you’ll probably miss some bags of gold on your way. Also, don’t hit any red balls otherwise the bike will disappear forever. And finally, whatever you choose: avoid the pools of goo. Unfortunately, you can’t ride beyond the “red barriers” but there’s a reason: it’s the end of the level. But you will have to face “Stone Head”. Not in a fight one on one no no. But… a game of “paper, scissors, stone”. It’s a classic, everyone played this game once, well I suppose. You have to choose between “stone”, “scissors” or “paper” and beat your opponent twice to win. The paper beats the stone, the stone beats the scissors and the scissors beat the paper. Nothing really hard. You can’t see what he will choose but don’t worry: you’ll get an item later in the game which allows you to see what your opponent will choose. You want to beat him easily? Is it what you really want? Ok, here is what you’re supposed to choose then: “stone” for the round 1 and “scissors” for the round 2. He will disappear and a ball of rice will magically appear. Take it in order to end the level.

STAGE 3: THE LAKE

Another underwater part, woohoo! And guess what? There’s a secret path, leading to the secret part of the level. More of that later. The mysterious block to the left has an extra life (3). Carry on until you reach a squid. It’s actually this squid, once beaten, who will allow you to go to the secret level. I’ll make another paragraph explaining the secret level. You can avoid this squid if you want to carry on but you can also kill it, beating its swinging tentacle. It takes a while because each hit will minimize the tentacle and will make the job harder. Also, you’ll need to be careful, really careful while you are moving in order to beat the tentacle, otherwise you’ll die horribly. Once you beat or skipped this squid, carry on, ignore the sea horses, then face another squid, carry on, avoid the piranha and take the ball of rice to end the level.

 

NOTE: Both of the ways lead to the next level: the island. However, the secret path has more goodies than the normal path as you can see. Result? I suggest you to go to the secret path but it’s up to you. I don’t force you… it’s just a suggestion from your host Laian. Deal or no deal. Ok, time to go to the next stage.

STAGE 4: THE ISLAND

A level really linear which might be a pain. The problem is the pits of lava. That means lot of platforms and obviously some good jumping skill is required if you don’t want to die. Go on the first pile of balls, take the gold inside the blocks above your head (use the floating red ball to get the second block) then jump from pile of balls to pile of balls. Here is the first pit. If you are on the highest column of balls, jump on the blue ball, then the red one to cross this pit. The second pit of lava is easy to cross. Just jump and land on the floating pile of balls. Now you can land on the grass, kill some enemies, take some gold kept by the flying creature and reach the end of the level where an elder is waiting for you. He will give the second vehicle of the game: the helicopter (4). Take it and eat the rice of ball.

NOTE: I don’t know if it’s a bug or not but, if you accidentally take the ball of rice without collecting the helicopter, you will start the next stage with the helicopter. It’s a bit silly but it’s ok. A bit silly though… Anyway, to the other side of the lake, we go!

STAGE 5: THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LAKE

A nice flight over the sea, isn’t that lovely? Of course, you’ll meet jumping fishes, flying creatures and red balls. And guess what? The helicopter is breakable so that means if you accidentally hit an enemy or a red ball above your head, you fall off. Don’t worry, you won’t lose any lives, you’ll finish the level swimming with the creatures of the deep blue sea. However, you’ll find lot of gold in the air compared to the underwater. So keep the helicopter as long as you can and reach the end of the level. The only difficulty when you are flying in the sky is the fact that some gold is below some red balls, which is quite dangerous and risky. Be careful if you dare such a move otherwise, you’ll go right in the sea and will be forced to end the level under the sea where there’s less gold than in the sky. What else can I say? Oh yes, compared to the bike, you can shoot projectiles with the helicopter if you press the attack button. Really nice if you want to kill some creatures. However, keep in mind that the red balls cannot be broken with your projectiles and they are deadly if your helix hit one of those balls. Whatever happens, keep going to the east and take the ball of rice to go to the next level.

STAGE 6: THE TOWN

A shop is in front of you. You can buy a helicopter, a crystal ball with the letter “A” carved on it (this item summons some little clones, attacking the enemies on the floor) and an extra life. As you can see you can make this level, flying high in the sky. However, if you use this item, don’t get close to any enemies and don’t let your helix kiss a grey rock (you should get used of that, it works with every vehicle). Actually, the level is easier with the helicopter. You will avoid most of the dangers like the mini bouncing Santa Claus (they look like Santa Claus) or the spinning flames and you can get more gold. Also, pits of goo. Lot of those pits. And those are longer than the ones you did encounter earlier. That’s why I suggest you to buy the helicopter in priority, well if you can afford it (I think you can buy it at this point of the game, the last shop was three or four stages ago and you should have collected enough gold to purchase it). You will encounter a mysterious block halfway. It contains an extra life. However, it’s kept by a spinning flame. Be really careful if you want this item, you can die or lose your vehicle if you still fly with your helicopter. Carry on to the east until you face a barrier of grey rocks. Beyond this barrier, a bull will greet you. All you have to do is use your punch to block his tackles. The more you will hit this opponent, the more it will be fast (and the more it will be tough). Once you beat this bull, a villager will thank you and will tell you about a brother. He is imprisoned inside the “Radaxian” castle. Time to go free him. But the way is still long. Get the ball of rice to end the level.

STAGE 7: THE VOLCANO

You are in the volcano, which means there will be lava, pools of lava. Kill the first enemy you will encounter, go up to avoid the first pool of lava and get the bags of gold. Carry on, break the mysterious block to find a magical ring (5), a bit further you’ll see a dragon ball woohoo! No, I’m kidding, it’s in fact a telepathy ball. This item is really nice and allows you to see through your opponent’s mind. Really handy to win the “paper, scissors and stone” games, right? Of course! There’s another one inside the Radaxian castle, hidden in a secret room secretly secret. More of that in due time though. How to get this ball, just fall down and land on the ground. Yes, I admit it’s easier to say than doing it but if you keep pressing the right arrow of your directional pad and press the jump button at the right time, it shouldn’t be a problem. Don’t worry; you won’t be trapped and doomed. After collecting the orb, a passageway will appear. Go through this new path and carry on. You’ll encounter a spinning flame. Now, this part is a bit tough. You have to dig a way through the pile of rocks in order to walk over the pool of lava. Also, you’ll need to create a shelter right where you are. Dig your shelter, avoid the flame and start your way to the east. Dig where the gold is, it will make you progress easier. When the flame goes back to the east, go back to the shelter and wait until the flame passed by the way you are currently making. Carry on your progress over the pit of lava. The two mysterious boxes contain a ghost so don’t break them. Just step on the purple block, go up, slide underneath the mysterious block (run and immediately crouch before the obstacle in order to slide, it’s quite tough but you should get used of this move, you’ll need it quite often at this point of the game). Kill the scorpion, don’t land on the purple block, go over the other purple block, don’t break the mysterious block, jump over the pool of lava, kill another scorpion and prepare to face “scissors head”. Use “scissors” then “paper” to defeat him, take the ball of rice and go to the next stage.

STAGE 8: THE FOREST

Here is another level that you can make by feet or with a vehicle. Enter the shop and notice the bike on sale for 200$, the crystal ball which summons the mini clones and a cane. It’s a nice item. It allows you to levitate for a short period of time. Use it wisely if you buy it. There will be in the another level a spot where you might use it in order to avoid a specific and tough part. More of that in due time. This is the forest. As I said earlier, you can make this level by feet or with the bike. By feet, it’s quite tough. However, with the bike it’s still tough but less tough than walking. The difficulty in this level is the holes of spikes: they are huge. Oh, and don’t worry, there are rocks too. The breakable rocks and the non-breakable rocks. I know it’s not some good news but it’s funny ha ha. And I think I forgot something else, but what… Anyway, ride your bike if you have bought it in the shop (otherwise you have to walk), jump over the holes of spikes with a good timing (especially with the bike… yeah, you hit any grey rock or the bike falls off in the spikes, you are doomed… lovely!) and take all the goodies you can take. Talking about goodies, there are two mysterious blocks in this stage. The first one contains a ghost, the other one contains either an extra life or a ghost. Actually, if you don’t break the first mysterious block, the ghost will be inside the the second one. However, if you break the first one, you’ll get the extra life inside the second mysterious block. There are three enemies in this level: the recycled bats, the one I don’t even remember and the monkeys. You can’t really kill the monkeys so you’re supposed to avoid the projectiles he will throw at you. You’ll meet another one at the end, cooperating with the giant boss you will face. Ah yeah, there it is: the boss! That’s what I forgot to talk about earlier. Yes, there’s a boss, not really tough though. You can beat this boss easily if you let him raise his sword and immediately keep spamming your punches while he is doing that. You’ll stun him with the first strike and he will be unable to give you any hits. You can also glitch this boss if you jump over him with your bike. You’ll be behind him and you will have to spam your punches on him. Beware of the monkey though, he won’t stop throwing his projectiles at you. Also, be fast if you do that otherwise the boss will go through the wall of grey rocks and will disappear forever. Once the boss is dead, grab the ball of rice to end the level.

STAGE 9: THE RIVER

Time to use another vehicle: the boat. This vehicle can shoot projectiles like the helicopter. Like the level with the helicopter, if you hit any red balls, you’ll go under the sea and will force to swim in order to reach the end. I don’t have to mention that the surface has more gold than the underwater, you already know it. Also, if you remember the lake, you met some flying creatures and some jumping fishes. Well, they are back. It’s possible to reach the end of the level with the boat but you’ll need a good timing to overcome all the obstacles on your way. Sometimes, you’ll face some close dangers, even unpredictable. So that means if you are careless or make any mistake, you will have to finish the level under the sea with the fishes and the other creatures. That’s all I can tell you about this level, it’s exactly like the helicopter and the lake with another vehicle and more challenge. Yeah, more challenge, we can say that. I hope you love challenges otherwise here is a good level to start ha ha. Oh, and if you think THIS is hard, you should wait a moment. The real pain will come later. Whatever happens during this level, manage to reach the ball of rice at the end and go to the desert.

STAGE 10: THE DESERT

Enter the shop and see what you can buy (6). The helicopter is back, that means “level with two possibilities in order to end the level”. You can walk or you can fly high in the sky. Well, not so high though. A new item is on sale too: the crystal ball with the letter “B” carved on it. This item grants you a temporary shield, however it won’t protect you from the spikes, the lava and the goo. It may be handy if you are sick of creatures. This level is another challenge, whatever you have chosen to reach the end of the stage. Flames, scorpions, pool of goo with vines… ok, you got used of that. What about the dark clouds unleashing the thunder? Yes, this is another danger. Don’t be hit by the thunder, it’s deadly (no, really?). The clouds are invincible, move then stop in order to unleash the thunder and move. Wait until the cloud did unleash the thunder and carry on. It’s simple like ABC but, you know, an accident happens so fast. Halfway, there’s a mysterious block with a magical ring inside. However, it’s kept by a spinning flame. Take your time, break the rocks and move carefully and this item will be yours. The hill of grey rocks, a bit further, might be a pain to cross because of the clouds and the flames. But with a good timing, you can make this part easily and reach “Paper Head” (7). You know the score, right? You have to face him in a “paper, rock or scissors” game. Two sets and you win, the rules don’t change. Use “stone” then “scissors” and this opponent will be defeated. Take the ball of rice to end the level.

STAGE 11: THE PURPLE CASTLE

This level… I remember this level a lot… I haven’t beaten this game because of this stage (neither my grand brother ). This castle scared the hell out of me when I was a kid, I’m not kidding. Once you enter the castle, the spikes lower so run to the other side, jump over the purple block and climb up the ladder. Manage to reach the ladder to the left, kill the frog, jump over the pits and carry on. Kill the enemies, jump on the platform and go to the right. Avoid the flames, collect the extra life and go back. Go through the path below, take some gold, kill the bats, break the blocks and climb down the ladder. The bag to your left is a trap, don’t take it. However, there’s some gold where the two purple blocks are. Break the pile of blocks to the right (with the power of the magical ring if you have one), kill the bat in the next room, don’t break the mysterious block and go up. You found your brother, woohoo! Now, how to free him? See the three purple blocks above the cage. You have to hit them to open the cage. With a magical ring, it will make this job easier. However, you will have to run, then jump and press the attack button to hit the blocks. Take your time, it’s a bit tough but it’s possible. Once he is free, he will tell you that the Nibana kingdom has the moonstone. He also tells you that a letter addressed to the king of Nibana kingdom is hidden somewhere in this castle. Go back where the pile of blocks is, go down, jump over the flames and carry on. A room full of ladders and invincible flames. Climb up the ladder in the center of the room, then jump on the ladder to the right, then on the blocks, go up and grab the letter (8). Notice that this room has no letter if you fall down when you are in the fourth room. You need to free your brother in order to make it appear.

 

STAGE 12: ANOTHER TOWN

This level is really short. There’s a boss and, a spinning flame and three or four scorpion, that’s it. I suggest you to go on the platform of grey rocks, there’s a shop a bit further. You can buy the two crystal balls and an extra life. Take all the gold you can take, get rid of the scorpion and, after the spinning flame, get ready for… another game of “paper, rock and scissors”! Woohoo! So who wants a rematch this time? “Scissors Head”? Alright! Use “stone” and “stone” to beat him. Unfortunately, like his friend inside the castle, he will try to murder you with his moving head. He will throw some projectiles at you. Avoid the projectiles, hit the head a few times and victory will be yours. Grab the rice of ball to end the level.

STAGE 13: THE PLATEAU

Yeah but, this time, you have to go to the west with a helicopter. That means flying creatures, pool of goo with vines and red balls. And believe me or not, this level can be a pain. However, the developers were nice: you can land on the floor and the red balls sometimes if you want to take a deep breath and a break. Plus, if you die, you restart with the helicopter… at the beginning though. The toughest parts should be with the columns of red balls because there are the pools of goo and the vine and you will be forced to fly low, which is obnoxious. Oh well, I guess it’s how the developers wanted to scare the player ha ha. The last columns before the ball of rice might be the highest degree of the challenge. There’s a flying creature trapped between the columns. Be very careful with this one otherwise you are doomed. Eat the ball of rice to go to the next level.

STAGE 14: THE NIBANA CASTLE

Not really a level but a short interlude in order to get the precious moon slab. Well, only if you have the letter found in the purple castle. If you don’t have the letter, you won’t get the moon slab but you’ll see a ghost to the right. So you will be forced to leave the castle using the ball of rice as soon as possible. Plus, the king will be so rude with you and won’t give you back the moon slab. However, if you have the letter addressed to the king of Nibana kingdom, the moon slab will appear to the left and you will be able to take it (9). This item is not really necessary but it will make the end of the game easier or harder. Oh, one more thing about the moon slab: read it from the right to the left and from top to bottom. Take the ball of rice to go to the next level.

STAGE 15: THE HILLS

You will see a shop a bit further to the east. You can buy a bike, a magical ring and a cane. Yes, it’s one of those levels. I suggest you to not buy a magical ring; you’ll find one in this level. What can I say about this level? Lot of gold on the way, pools of goo with vines, frogs, scorpions and bunches of rocks so be careful if you use the bike (same advice if you couldn’t afford the vehicle and are forced to walk). There’s an extra life in the mysterious block over the pool of goo. If you ride the bike, beware of the piles of rocks, some of them are unpredictable and has some grey rocks which will break your vehicle. Also, between two piles of rocks, you’ll find two bags of gold and a scorpion, this area is tough if you want the gold because there’s a small space between the two piles. Watch the scorpion and go down to beat it and take the gold. The last mysterious block one the column of grey rocks at the end contains the magical ring I mentioned earlier (10). At the end of the level, after the columns of rocks and the magical ring inside the mysterious block, you’ll face “Paper Head”. And yes, it’s another game of “paper, scissors and rock”. Choose “stone” then “scissors” to win. And, like his dead friends, he will try to kill you with his head. The pattern of the head is like the boomerang. It will go high in the sky and will go back to your opponent. Jump over him, wait until the head goes back to him and punch his head a couple of times. He will die, making a ball of rice appear. Take it and go to the next level.

STAGE 16: THE BROWN CASTLE

Oh, two blocks to the east but no creatures. Hmm, you can take it but you need a good timing otherwise say bye to those blocks. In fact, the floor will crumble and you will fall down. However, if you jump correctly, you’ll get the gold. But to be honest, gold is useless now, there will be no more shops because it’s almost the end of the game. Actually, this is the level before the last level. It’s another castle and, like the last castle, you’ll encounter some deathtraps and creatures. Go down, go to the next room, beware of the crumbling platform above the flame, go down. Don’t be so hasty when you climb down the ladder, another flame is waiting for you. Go the next room, then break the blocks in order to the east, don’t climb down the ladder you see and carry on. Break the blocks, go down, avoid the flames then proceed to the next room, break the blocks to the right as soon as possible or you will be murdered by the falling water and carry on. Kill the frog, jump over the spikes, slide underneath the platform, break the bottom mysterious block and slide to get the magical ring if you need one (11). Go up, break the blocks to make your progress, in the next room you’ll find two other mysterious blocks above the spikes. One has an extra life and the other has a ghost. Use a cane to get the extra life in the bottom mysterious block then go to the left. Jump over the pools and the vines, go up and reach the ladder in the next room. Go to the left, don’t break the mysterious block, climb up the ladder, hit the purple block twice and go to the right before the water kills you. Proceed to the next room, break the block to the right as soon as possible and go down. If you are stuck in this room, don’t worry: hit the purple block three times to make a ladder appear and go back. In the next room, kill the creature, go down, hit the purple block twice, kill the scorpion and carry on. Now, it’s where you can use the cane in order to grab the ladder up here and avoid the underwater part. Notice the mysterious box; you can get this item later. Unfortunately, if you have already used it or if you don’t have any canes, you are forced to go underwater. Oh don’t worry, there are no creatures. Just some vines and some spikes up and down. This part, if you don’t know the tip, is obnoxious. Remember: when Alex Kidd is underwater, he is automatically attracted to the surface. It’s a good thing here. Wait what? Are you crazy, Laian? That’s probably what you say. Trust me, let Alex Kidd be attracted to the surface, don’t press the up button of the directional pad, use only the left and the right button to make this part. He won’t be hit by the upper spikes, however beware of the lowest ones.

  

STAGE 17: THE SANCTUARY OF THE CROWN

This is the last step before the end of the game. Nothing really hard, dive in too deep, taking care of the fishes and the giant creature. Open the door with the moonstone and the sunstone and check the moon slab. Remember that you have to read it from right to left and from top to bottom. And, for the lazy people, here is the code: sun, wave, moon, star, sun, moon, wave, fish, star, fish. Enter the code correctly, don’t step on any wrong block otherwise a ghost will appear and you will be doomed. The crown will appear on the platform above your head (13). Oh cool, but the spikes are not cool. Be careful, jump over the spikes and the crown will be yours. Congratulations, you beat Alex Kidd in Miracle World.
