Another Tutorial made by Seishiro Leonhart himself! So, I felt inspired to make this tutorial after the September High score competition. For some reason, I never found this game before with my NES emulator CD, probably because it did not work, or because I never found it. In this game you enter the skin of Pac Man, going around the maze eating the dots (called pac dots) getting 4 large dots (which is called the power pellet), eating ghosts that come in your way and collecting fruits and special items below the ghosts spawn spot. It's just like the classic Pac Man but for this game there are 4 different maps, which are called worlds. The game consists of Pac Man eating all the pac dots around the maze to clear the level, while collecting power pellets, ghosts when they are blue, fruits and special items that appear just like the classic Pac Man, but on this game Pac Man can jump. The controls for the game is very simple, you move up, down, left and right with the up down left and right button to move on that way, but this time there is something new on this game, Pac Man can now jump with A or B buttons, but be careful, on later levels will appear the funkies, which are ghosts who learned the same jumping trick and may hit Pac Man in midair if the jump is not timed correctly. The game play is very similar to the classic Pac Man, but instead the game have a 3D effect, which is very cool, and probably because of that, Pac Man earned the ability to jump, but it really was needed, because the game would be extremely hard if Pac Man could not jump, the ghosts could easily surround Pac Man and you would get a game over very quickly. On the game, you will encounter different kinds of ghosts, each with a different personality. Red - Called Blinky on the Pac Man games, he is a fearless ghost, and when angered by turning back all of a sudden will make him chase Pac Man everywhere, wherever Pac Man goes the red ghosts follows him, eventually getting more speed and start catching up to Pac Man, jump over him to avoid him. Purple - Called Sue on Pac Man games, she is a annoying ghost, just like Blinky she will chase Pac Man everywhere, but at any time, not when angered, and Sue on some stages will start as fast as Pac Man while other ghosts are very slow, even if Pac Man eats Sue she will quickly go to the ghost spot and recover, on the later stages you will hardly have any free time if Sue is chasing you, jump over her to avoid her for a bit, but watch out when you jump, she may turn back all of a sudden and get Pac Man. Pink - Called Blinky on Pac Man games, she usually stays on the upper left corner of the maze, but sometimes she may decide to start chasing Pac Man a bit, you won't have many problems with her, jump over her to avoid her or continue running around the maze and eventually she will stop chasing you. Cyan - Called Inky on Pac Man games, he usually can be found on the lower left part of the maze, a bashful ghost, only sometimes this ghost will chase Pac Man, you won't have many problems with him too, jump over him to avoid him or keep running around the maze and eventually he will stop chasing Pac Man. Yellow - Called Clyde on Pac Man games, he usually can be found on the lower right part of the maze, a stupid ghost, when Pac Man collects the power pellet he tries to run to the lower right part of the maze, hardly chase Pac Man, jump over him to avoid him or keep running around the maze and eventually he will stop chasing Pac Man. Green - Not sure if he have a name on Pac Man games, this guy is dangerous, since he is a funky ghost, he may be annoying depending on how you take him on, usually 2 of these Black - I don't know his name for the Pac Man games, seriously, STAY AWAY FROM THIS GHOST WHEN HE IS NOT BLUE! It's not something hard to do since he hardly try to chase Pac Man at all, he roams around the maze, mostly on the upper part, you won't have many problems with him if you don't get surrounded by ghosts and he is one of the surrounding ghosts, you can just move away from him and make your way around, but if you are surrounded by those ghosts, you can already say that you lost a life, because it is IMPOSSIBLE to jump over them, trying to jump over them is like saying "Hey ghost! I want to lose a life, but I want to lose a life when jumping! YAY!", it's impossible to jump over them because they jump EXACTLY as high as Pac Man, when Pac Man is jumping, the ghost is in a front view of Pac Man and even when falling the ghost is in a front view of Pac Man, so please, if you don't want Pac Man to lose a life avoid him as much as you can if they are not blue, they are very dangerous, good thing they don't follow Pac Man much and they are slower than Pac Man. On the maze Pac Man will find many different items, there are the pac dots, the items Pac Man need to eat in order to beat the level and move on to the next level, there are the power pellets, found on the four (4) corners of the maze, those power pellets turns the ghosts temporarily into blue, and Pac Man can eat them to score points, increasing the amount of score got per ghost in succession, raising up to 7450 points per ghost, there are an item that will help you get more points and reach the maximum score per ghost, but I will explain this later, oh, maybe you did not knew this, but if you collect another power pellet without the effect of the other power pellet wearing off, the score combo can continue without being reseted to the regular 200 points, but the combo will continue allowing you to score more points, after eating a certain amount of pac dots a fruit target will appear below the ghost spawn spot, collect the fruit for points, on later levels the fruit changes and the amount of score got from the fruits collected will increase by 1000 points, depending if you get a power pellet after the fruit target appear, a different kind of special item will appear, it may be a fruit like item, not exactly being a fruit, but grants points to Pac Man, or you may get a pill, there are 2 pills, a green one and a red one, the green pill increases Pac Man speed, allowing him to move faster, good for getting ghosts easier when you get a power pellet, the effect of the green pill, or the speed pill wears off when Pac Man dies or when the effect of a power pellet wears off, and there are the red pill, which doubles the amount of score got from eating ghosts, making it easier to reach the maximum score combo per ghost, this effect don't wear off when the effect of a power pellet wears off, Pac Man will lose this bonus if Pac Man dies oh and I forgot to say, when Pac Man collects the red pill, the red pill causes the effect of the power pellet, for a shorter time, but it is enough to get a few ghosts and possibly get a power pellet to extend the effect and get even more points. When I first played this game I thought this game is very interesting, this game got my attention, and it's fun to play, I only remember playing this game when I played this game on my SNES (not NES) emulator CD, on the SNES the graphics are better and the characters are a bit more... stuffed or fat, but the game still have the same game play experience like this Pacmania for the NES, this is certainly a game you should try out! The game may seem tough, but play it, I promise it's worth playing a few times, you will like it! So, I felt inspired to make this tutorial after the September High score competition. Hey thanks for the tip. I will try them out when I get a chance to play the game. I never know that the ghost actually do this type of stuff. I thought they either want to chase you or not.

Mobouis1 : No problem, this is what I noticed from the ghosts when I competed for the past month Highscore competition (which was Pac mania), when I kept playing the game I noticed those details about the ghosts, hopefully it will be useful to people to know. |
