Oh boy, 2 reviews in 2 days, this is what you call motivation of reviewing.
Pac-Man, the most classic game in the early 80's, spawning seemingly infinite number of games of Pac-Man so far. Pac-Man is already about 32 years old, but let's go back to the late 80's for the NES port of Pac-Man.
Game instructions in MY words: You are Pac-Man, a circle with a mouth which is the cut part of the yellow. He's yellow, and he'll gobble up those pellets and eat the 4 ghosts that chase him in a maze. Like any game, you get 3 lives although the game displays it as 2. The formula is this according to looking about the game:
Mini dot = 10 points
Power dot = 50 points
1 ghost eaten = 200 points
2 ghosts eaten = 400 points
3 ghosts eaten = 800 points
All 4 ghosts eaten = 1600 points
Sorry for spliting the instructions. Anyways, depending on how many levels you beat in one game depends on what fruit appears about every 75 (?) dots eaten in a level. (? equals "Guessed amount.) 75 isn't the exact number, might want to research about that more.
When you get 10k points, you get a extra life on the NES, but only 10k. The arcade ports on the wii, xbox 360, and PS3 have settings that you can change to your fitting.
Onto the review.
Standard graphics?
Yes, the simple graphics of the NES' capabilities. Look back on Atari 2600's graphics for it's games, really good. NES graphics are simple, like atari 2600, but a little more advanced. Not much to say, regular NES graphics. But HOLD IT! Pinky in the game is BARELY even pink! -2 for that. So the only problem was Pinky's color fail. XD
Graphic rating: 8/10
Regular sounds?
Yep, but these sounds are 100% unique, and created by the famous company Namco which created Pac-Man. Made no sense there, but it is NES quality in which technology in mid 80's was extremly beyond limited in sounds.
Sound rating: 7/10
How fun is this game?
Pretty fun... IF you never played Pac-Man before or if you like games that old. If you like Pac-Man, you could try this out.
Addict rating: 6/10
Uh, is there a story this time?
No, it doesn't tell you the story, but it does show you the ghosts and a demo of the game if you wait a moment, telling you the ghost names. As said above, the 4 ghosts are Blinky, the red ghost, Pinky, the (barely pink in this game) pink ghost, Inky, the light blue ghost, and Clyde, the stupid orange ghost. They have their personalities, like Blinky being fast, Pinky being smart, Inky going around the maze, and Clyde being what you call "derpy" around the maze. Literally.
No story rating.
How much is there in the game?
Well, there's only one maze that repeats every level, for a unknown number. The number may be 255 levels before it glitches or crashes because there was a glitch in the aracde only version of Pac-Man where level 256 glitches the right half of the screen. No one can complete it, but according to wikipedia, (NO JOKE!) someone score around 6,100,000 points. The highest possible was 3,333,360 set back in 1999, but anything beyond that can't be done without a cheat or some sort of impossible-to-do luck.
Depth rating: 5/10
How difficult is this game?
Well, after a couple levels, it becomes hard, but you only have to do the same strategy, same dot placement stuff, and that's it. The ghosts get slightly faster and become more smarter, until the 3rd key level where they are insane, even Clyde gets smart.
But no kidding, I can almost get to level 5 on NES Pac-Man. In the aracde port on the wii, I could get level 7. That's as far as I can go.
Difficulty rating: 7/10
Overall?
I think this is a fun game, unlike warmup review #1 that I did 2 days ago. Nethertheless, it is a very gun and I recommend Pac-Man to ANYONE, even fans like vizzed user pacman1755.
Also, recommend it to people who never heard or played Pac-Man. Try the newer games, too.
Overall rating: 8.2
Problems that made overall rating lose tenths:
Ghost color fail
Repetivity level: Very High
Same maze
Same color (maze)
Same strat
Power pills not working on level 16, 18+
Warmup review #2, by me. I am not spamming that I want to be staff now, I thought about making some reviews while I wait for acceptance.
Should I do reviews at almost the same speed as 2 days, or should I try reviewing once per week like staff game reviewers?
