Nope I don't nickname the Pokemon I catch at all, because I'm really bad at thinking of unique and interesting names and I trade online over wi-fi so what if I name a Pokémon I trade something really bad and or mediocre, then the person I traded that Pokémon to can't ever change the name of that Pokémon so it would be stuck with a horrible name.

I almost always nickname my Pokemon. When I played Pokemon White, I gave human names to almost every Pokemon I caught. Sometimes I just leave the name as is when I can't figure out a good nickname for them or if said nickname has already been taken.

In addition I also don't nickname them because if I choose to trade Pokémon with anther individual, that other individual might not like the nickname of the Pokémon I traded them and since traded Pokémon can't be renamed, that individual will be stuck with a Pokémon that's nicknamed something they don't like.
