This game is amazing. Earthbound (or Mother 2) is a master piece of its
time. It has all RPG and the special level action of Final Fantasy and
its own brand of enemies, and game play. It has a great story line and
unique music. Unlike other characters from different games Earthbound's
characters have more emotions rather then being living plot points. It
isn't extremely difficult but it's not an easy task. This game captures
the strange yet fantastic wonders of the older games.  The only
complaint I have ever had about this game is its graphics which
sometimes, are messed up. In result, this game is one of the best I have
ever played (and that's saying a lot coming from a big time gamer like
me).

I loved your nice and easy review. And i would also like to say that this game is amazing. I love it very much. I played it on the snes not knowing it was the second mother. I wasn't able to beat it. I got stuck and i noticed there was a mother one for GBA and now i am playing that before i beat mother 2.

I agree for the most part but I don't get this line
"Unlike other characters from different games Earthbound's characters have more emotions rather then being living plot points"
the characters almost never talk, when they do its usually just introductions, the only one who really had much personality was Paula, the rest just have implied personalities like Jeff being shy, even most earthbound fans will say the story wasn't amazing...

DARKANINE : you must remember that each character has their own story that affects everything about them. Ness lives in a small neighborhood outside of Onett, not knowing about his possible heritage, which might be the root of his PSI. We never see his father, even after Ness saved the world (you were saving so his father must have know) implying that his father never spends time with him, giving Ness a sense of self independence. As for Paula, she has the same case, with the town Twoson curious about her and her "freak" powers and her praying. She was an outcast and loved by the preschoolers at the same time. Jeff had a father who never understood to the point where he would call him "Dr. Andonuts rather than dad. He was lonely and there was a possibility that he didn't even know his mother. As for Poo, he was a prince, everyone was expecting him to be great after his extremely intense training. As for the missing information, it fits perfectly. It gives imagination and possibilities to each of the character, animating them unlike other characters in video games.

DARKANINE : true,  but you must remember two things

1. I had wrote that Earthbound was a masterpiece of its time, not comparing to more modern games
2.I was never comparing its characters to other Rpgs, where they have extremely complex storylines, and several games to reveal secrets about the character compared to earthbound's single game of the same characters (Pokey/Porkey being the exception) while I admit that my opinion in that case was a
bit inaccurate, I was intending to compare it to all video games in general. Earthbound did pretty well with its character considering how many games they had and the age it was made.
