That Patriots vs Jets game was hard to watch. Fumbles, interceptions, dropped passes, bad throws, Geno Smith being sacked several times. With all those turnovers, the Jets still had multiple chances to tie or take the lead in the 4th quarter. The Patriots on the other hand, are extremely lucky to be 2-0. They could have just as easily been 0-2 right now. Amendola is out for the forseeable future, Vereen is out until at least week 11. I hear Gronkowski at least has a chance to play in week 3, for what it's worth. They need him badly right now; the lack of receivers is clearly affecting Tom Brady's performance.

This is going to be an interesting season to watch. Some of the better teams from last year are barely winning or just plain losing. I was stunned that the Colts lost to the Dolphins. That was my one gimmie game and they totally blew it. Kansas City is 2-0, which is pretty surprising. If New England actually plays a good team this year they will start losing too and even if they don't, I doubt they will do well in the playoffs. I think the Lions can do well this year and hopefully will make the playoffs again. I guess we will just see.

The Lions Defense is horrible. Not sure how many games they are going to win this year. They are going to have to outscore teams to have a chance to win.

Division wins are division wins. Sure the Pats haven't looked great but they are still 2-0 in the Division, which isn't easy. They have a great shot of making the playoffs especially considering they have some guys that will come back from injury. Maybe you have seen how bad the AFC North is? So I doubt that the wildcard is coming from that Division. The Pats have an easy road to win that division as no team is ultra strong in the AFC east.

It's a long season so it's hard to make predictions based on the first two weeks.

The Dolphins colts game isn't a surprise at all to me. They have a defense that can get pressure on the QB and the Colts have protection issues. They tried to run the ball more this game but it just didn't work out.

Tom Brady is known for making other players around him better (*ahem* Welker), so maybe this season Brady can really help out his rookie receivers, even though of course he is frustrated with them.

Buffalo is looking really hopeful this year, and may be the only threat to the Pats this year in the AFC East.

A question though is how will Gronkowski do coming back from injury? Sure he is a beast, but will he perform at an elite standard like he did last year, or will he slump a little?

If you want to make early judgements, the AFC is weak this year. The Ravens are not so good as they were last year after losing many key players. The Steelers are just going downhill imo.
The Denver Broncos I feel are the pick in the AFC. The Pats are really close, but Peyton has control of a really dynamic offense, and the Pats are dry on the offense right now.
Kansas City, Houston, and Cincinnati are good teams as well.

The NFC...no need for an explanation.

magimangr : How about those Lions? I'm not sure if they are going to be better than 3rd in their division if they can't figure out what's up on Defense. They are so undisciplined. Same thing as last year where the penalties just kill them at key points in a game.

Jordanv78 :

Well I just hope they do well since I have Stafford and Johnson on my fantasy team, lol! They did good for me today, but I still lost and their team did too. I agree that their defense needs some improvements.

I cant believe the Colts lost though. That just about killed me today and I was having such a nice day before that happened.

So in case you haven't heard, the Browns have now traded Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts. So they traded a top pick from a year ago for a first rounder next year. Keep in mind tha this pick will probably be middle of the road as the Colts might make the playoffs.

Poor Browns fans...how could Richardson have fallen out of favor to where they trade him so early in the season like this? He's only in his second year.

Either the Browns know something the rest of the world don't, or they just made a really foolish decision.

I don't believe this whole "He doesn't fit the scheme of the new coaching staff" stuff either. I mean with that team, wouldn't you gameplan around your weapons and not the other way around? It's not like we are talking about an established team like the Pats or something like that where you try to plug guys into the current system. If that was why they traded him, that's a really rash decision.

Jordanv78 : Well Cleveland does have many needs on the Offense. Most likely they are going to take Marques Lee from USC to be their number 1 WR and then take either Teddy Brightwater (most likely going to Jacksonville), Josh Boyd from Clemson (most likely going to Titans if Jake Locker doesn't improve), McCarron from Alabama (thou they could take him with a 2nd round pick given that QB is not the most pressing need for most teams outside of Jacksonville, Tennessee, and Minnesota). But one thing is for sure...

I better draft Cleveland's new RB. (runs to yahoo).

Edit: Well it looks like McGhee might be Cleveland's new RB. That sucks.

Oldschool41 : I understand that the Browns are a mess and that they need a lot on offense, but I don't see how that means that they should have traded away their top 3 pick in the draft from last year. I mean they didn't even let him play 2 full seasons. He gained over 1300 yards from scrimmage in his rookie year on a bad team and even broke Jim Browns team record for rushing by a rookie.

Besides, it's not like they got multiple picks. They got what probably will be a middle to end of the first round pick for him.

I realize that in the NFL trade always get low returns, so the Browns probably jumped at the first offer of a first round pick for him, but honestly I think they would have been better served to wait near draft time if their strategy was going to be to move him.

I'm sure they could have gotten a deal that involved multiple picks. Maybe a low first rounder and another pick or two in the lower rounds. Maybe something like that would have made sense.

I could have understood it I guess if they had a decent guy on the bench that they thought could play well in the system, but they don't have anyone that can play NFL RB. Sounds like they have to sign one off the scrap heap.

So basically now, they made another hole in their team with no plan on replacing it. If i was a Browns fan, I would probably be LIVID.

Now all of a sudden, the Colts have two of the top 3 draft picks from last year on their team. From their end it doesn't seem like much of a gamble.

The Browns are a joke. Trading the #3 overall pick from last year for a 1st round pick which will end up being around 25th overall. Brandon Weeden is not the future at QB, either. They'll probably dump him in the off-season and draft another QB. By the way, he's going to turn 30 in less than a month. I honestly feel bad for Cleveland fans. Cleveland has become the laughingstock of the sports world.

Steelers got burnt by the bears! Maybe this isn't the steelers season, and the giants are just doing terrible as well, Eli is just struggling!

Well My Bears looking pretty good so far. There's still plenty of room for improvement, but the point is that they scored 40 points tonight even though they struggled at times. Cutler looked good on the decisive 4th quarter drive that he set up with the big shoulder to the DB on a long scramble out of the pocket.

Sucks that they lost Melton but they have some good guys that can fill in at DT. The health of Tillman is an issue though and his knee is not doing well.

Chewedmint : Steelers did okay on the Sunday Night game, thou they still need improvement to the run game (better get Bell back soon).

So much for Cleveland tanking the season. Hoyer did a solid job (had a couple of INTs, but that is going to happen when you've only had about a week of training with the first team...and its your 2nd starting job). At least Cleveland got Josh Gordon back and still have Jordon Cameron. Lets see how McGhee does when he gets more reps with the 1st team. Richardson on the other hand had an okay job in Indy.

Jordanv78 : Yup our Bears are doing a good job. Always a good day when the Bears win and/or the Packers lose. Losing Melton might be a bitter pill to swallow, but the real issue is Tillman and his knee. That OLine thou is really doing a good job. Kyle Long is looking like a steal.

How about those Dolphins too. Looks like they might make a run for the wildcard, maybe the AFC East given the Patriot's problems on Offense (Defense is looking good).

In my opinion, after the first 3 weeks, it looks like the Broncos and the Seahawks are the best teams in their respective conferences.

In the AFC, the Patriots look a little shaky, mostly because of their injuries, but they still have Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, so they'll always be a good team. The Colts look decent after they dismantled the 49ers on the road after losing to the Dolphins at home. I'm not too sure what to think of them. And the Dolphins are still undefeated after beating my Falcons and they look like they might be able to give the Patriots a run at the division. The biggest surprise so far in the AFC has got to be the Chiefs. They already have more wins then they did all last year, thanks mostly in part to the arrival of Andy Reid and Alex Smith.

In the NFC, the Bears look like a very good all-around team under new head coach Marc "the genius" Trestman, fresh out of the CFL. The 49ers and Packers are surprisingly struggling, and my Falcons have an injury list longer than any other team in the NFL. And the Saints have taken advantage of the Falcons slow start and already have a 2 game lead in 3 weeks. The NFC East is a huge mess, in which the Cowboys will probably take that division. I think the biggest surprise in the NFC is the Bears. The Bears have historically had a good defense, but thanks in part to coach Trestman, the offense has a chance to be just as good.

And as for my Falcons, I have three words: injuries, injuries, and um...injuries. Its not looking good so far as they're 1-2 and it doesn't get any easier with the Patriots coming in on Sunday night. Its a HUGE disappointment that Steven Jackson got hurt as early as he did. All through last offseason, I couldn't wait to watch him run over some people. And Sean Weatherspoon was, in many expert's opinions, ready to have a Pro Bowl caliber year, and that has tragically been cut short. The defense, however, looks like it has promise as Osi finally showed up and had a great game at Miami.

But this season is still very young and anything can still happen. As I said, looks like right now the Broncos and Seahawks will meet in New York in February.

MattyIce : Yeah the injuries have really killed the Falcons so far this season. Honestly it comes down to health a lot of times in the NFL. Hopefully they can tread water and be in the hunt and get some guys back healthy again.

I am not really surprised that the Saints are doing well again now that they have their coach back. When you have a QB like Brees and a player like Graham you are going to be a team to reckon with. I guess the biggest surprise for me is that the defense has played pretty strong so far this season.

The fact that the Falcons and Saints are in the same Division as the Panthers and Bucs give them some breathing room. Both teams are having big issues right now although the Panthers still have plenty of time to figure it out and the defense is pretty good. The Bucs are probably not going to do much. Too much Turmoil on that team. Turning the offense over to an unproven rookie 3rd rounder is not a good sign.

As far as the rest of the NFC is concerned, the East is a mess...but you know what? That has been the case the past several seasons where one or two of the teams start out really slow and all of a sudden are in the playoff hunt at the end of the season. The Giants and Skins have both done that at least once recently. RG3 doesn't look like himself yet and their defense is HORRIBLE. Honestly, there's not much defense being played in that division at all. I mean the Eagles and the Skins have to be two of the worst defenses thus far with the Giants right with them lol.

At this point the Cowboys might win that division by default.

The NFC North is a tough division to call. The Packers have struggled but their two losses are by teams that were pretty good on paper. The 9ers just abused their defense and the Bengals are a great team as well. It's pretty much been the usual for the Packers though the past few years. Horrible defense, but amazing offense. No run game to speak of though. Rodgers has to do it all. I'm just not sure how that equates in the long term. Sure they are a wonderful offense and this is a passing league...but you have to have a little balance to keep teams guessing. You also have to be able to stop people from scoring occasionally. The Pack haven't seemed to be able to do that yet.

The Lions are pretty much in a similar boat. Their defense can play well at times, but a lot of what really kills them is how undisciplined they are. It's a regular occurrence to have them penalize themselves out of key situations. The secondary is suspect and can be beaten, but the Lions have shown they can score with the best of them. The health of Stafford and Bush are major factors as neither has been able to stay healthy much in the careers.

It's going to be a tough game between the Lions and Bears. I hope my Bears can go on the road and win one. Tillmans health is a big issue. If he can play at a high level, he has proven that he can shut down Megatron. If he can't play at close to 100% it's going to be a long day for my Bears.

Packers having the early Bye is interesting. Might hurt them down the line.

There's no doubt in my mind that Seattle is the class of the NFC right now. The 49ers are really struggling and it's a HUGE hit to their defense that Aldon Smith went into rehab and an even bigger distraction to the whole team. I have no doubt though that they can right the ship and content for that division though. We're not quite through a quarter of the season yet, so it's still very early.

The AFC can be summed up like this. The Denver Broncos are eating people alive and there's a few other teams.. lol

Sure Miami, KC, the Pats and Bengals/Colts are all interesting but very unproven outside of the Pats. KC cant' throw the ball down field and the Pats and Colts have a bunch of injuries. Anything can happen there, and whomever comes out of the AFC might be a coin flip. The Bengals have a very dangerous team but can they play well enough down the stretch to make a deep run? With that coaching staff, I'm not sure they can. I'm not sold on Dalton either.

Look for Luck and Brady to make some noise and for KC to fall back to earth. Not sure what to think about Miami though. Jury is still out for me on them.

Jordanv78 : Very well put sir, but let me just add a couple things:

I, also, am not surprised with the Saints good start. As soon as the schedule came out, and as good as I thought my Falcons were, I still did not expect them to win that first game in New Orleans. They have ALWAYS had trouble playing there, but its a division game on the road. They're always tough games to win. And as far as they're defense, yeah they're playing pretty good but they can't get any worse than last year. They can only get better. The Saints have proved just how important a head coach can really be in the NFL. But, again, that was expected.

And the Packers might have the worst OL ever. Any QB (if they're smart enough, lol) can realize pressure and take a couple steps outside the pocket to buy them more time to throw, but Aaron Rodgers has to do it constantly. Its amazing to me how much success he's had with that OL. If you put him behind the OL Drew Brees has, he would have WAY more success. But that's why he has to do it all, that's why they have no run game.

I'm not sold on the Chiefs, yet. Lets see them play the Broncos when the time comes, then we'll have a much better idea of how good they really are. Although they do have a BYE week before they play the Broncos, so that might work in their favor. The Eagles aren't really that good, but they did play a good game against the Cowboys, and they blew out the Jaguars (just like everybody probably will). I expect them to play well against the struggling Giants.
