So I found this game in development after Redigit posted on his Terraria dev blog that he is quitting development of Terraria for reasons cited on his blog.

He also linked to a game in development called Starbound.

Starbound is a brand new game undergoing active development by Chucklefish, an indie game company made up of a lovely group of dudes and dudettes. It’s expected to be released towards the end of Summer 2012

At first glance, I thought it was something to keep those hardcore Terraria fans occupied, but by the look of it, it has something for everyone and more!
And as you can see, there is definitely a lot of promise for this game already.

Ah, yes, Starbound. I have a real good feeling about this game, especially with Chucklefish spearheading it. Tiy is taking control, which is honestly a good thing because Redigit's coding skills are... lacking. I also appreciate the new direction it's heading towards; the screenshots are promising and space-y type stuff has always intrigued me. Terraria entertained me a bit, but it never really "grabbed" me. Starbound looks to be the one to do that, and more.

Also fun to mention is that there is an ages old Earthbound comic of the same name.

Terraria entertained me for a good while when it first came out. But I expected there to be more to it. The boss fights were kind of lacking and were insanely easy. There just wasn't enough of a reason to try to get better stuff or explore after a while. Even though the updates that came out added a good bit of content, it never fixed this problem. Terraria was still a great game and was easily worth the money (especially since I bought it during the Christmas sale), but it left me wanting more.

This definitely looks pretty cool, though, and it'll be something I'll keep an eye on. I love the retro style look to it.
