Hello all. I'm member 150,102. I wish I had known about this site earlier because I would have loved being member 150,000 exactly. (I have a thing for numbers that come out more even.

Let's see... what to tell about myself.

First of all, I was born in the mid-70s so I was growing up right as the "Golden Age" video game era was hanging around, and my love for games of all types (not just electronic) has never slowed. I am a musician, collector of many types of things, game designer, and an amateur magician. Needless to say my interests vary quite a bit!

Although I have not recently bought any game systems or related games (I have been satisfied these days with online games for brief play, and the rest of the time I am helping others), through my life I have owned an ATARI 2600 and 7800, an NES, SNES, the original black and white Game Boy, an N64, a Playstation, and around 60 games (most of them were for the ATARI... I still love the classics. I also still own an APF TV Fun system though I haven't played it in a decade and have owned two pinball machines but the maintenance was too much of a hassle since many parts aren't made anymore.

I found out about this site by accident. Up until now I had been using emulator software, but because I built a new PC a couple of weeks ago I haven't taken the time to install the less important stuff. I was searching to see if Contra had ever been ported to Java or Flash and after a few links, I ended up here. I am surprised that given the number of years this site has been around I had never heard of it.

Assuming I make some decent friends here (not just people who only post because you posted) I will hopefully become a simi-regular here, though it may take time. One trait you've already noticed is that when I have something to say, I often ramble with long sentences and posts. So if you made it through this one given it is only an intro then I applaud you.

Anything else that you want to know, just ask!

CobraGuy :  Hello CobraGuy, nice to meet you and welcome to Vizzed Board.

Do not worry, I made it and I'm ok lol, it's a long and interesting introduction, sir. I see you are an amateur magician, then I'm going to ask you my personal question because I love magic tricks too: what magic tricks do you like and do you practice?

Also, you are a game designer, another question: what are you working on if you have a current project? I'm creating a RPG with RPG Maker XP, this will be my first project and it means everything for me.

Well, if you have any questions, feel free to ask

I know the feeling

I was member 69102. I would have loved being user 69696 or something crazy, but we don't always like the cards we are dealt

Welcome to Vizzed, I sure hope you enjoy your stay, I know I have.

There's nothing wrong with having a lot to say. In fact, it's generally loved around these parts. Well spoken members are a thing many of us members enjoy (including myself).

I also found this site by accident. I joined looking for a creepy pasta legend, and ended up finding this place. But now I'm a staff member and rarely set foot in the RGR. Funny how those things happen.

Thank you all for the welcome.

laian : I have been practicing off and on (right now, VERY off) for about 10 years (though you could say I'd been technically doing it since I was 5 when I was given a "learner's kit".)  The downside is that most of the kids around have grown up now, and adults just aren't as fun to perform for unless you are in a decent sized group. Another downside is the Internet. Magic is all about mystery. What mystery is there when, 10 minutes after doing a trick, the kid goes to Google and types in something like, "Magic coin through bottle" and finds the answer?

While there are no tricks that I won't at least attempt to learn and perform, I prefer to perform "guessing games" because the illusions for each can be very different making it difficult to figure out what's going on from one trick to the next) and it gets the audience involved rather than just standing there to watch.

I am a self-employed PC technician which means I can work from home and pursue my other interests easily. For game design, at the moment, the only things that I am working on are related to others' projects. . . primarily background / story and suggestions that aid in making the games longer. That's the biggest problem that I find. People get caught up in the basics of the game idea, get things started, then they get stuck and in turn get bored and want to give up or cut the game short.

StevenLanders : Some of my favorite coin-op machine games: the Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Killer Instinct series, but most of all, the SoulCalibur series. For games as home, there really are no favorites. Probably Zelda: LttP, OoT and MM.  To expand on what I was saying to laian, I like "long games" so that leans me toward the ATARI classics that go on forever or have an end, but it's way down the line (such as Pac-Man when the game crashes on level 256. Been there; done that.)

I do have two style questions (well, several, but I'll look around and maybe once I have gotten used to this place the answers will come.) Is there way to turn off the background "frame" images for all profiles so that none of them show up in posts? They are rather distracting to me. Also, among all of the options, even though I probably need more posts or Trusted privileges, I did not see any place for adding an avatar. Where is that?

Welcome to the board! I would like to take a stab at your two questions. For the first one, as far as I know, there is not a way to turn off the frames. For the avatar picture, newbies don't have full access to customizing their profiles. Just make enough posts by the end of the newbie time period. For details on that stuff, go to the help center link on the top right corner of the screen. Click the usernames and powerlevels tab, and you will get a nice breakdown of each type of member, what they are limited to, and how to bump up a level. If you have any other complications or questions, feel free to ask.

One other thing I noticed. On your last post, it looks like you tried to reply to the people who posted on this thread. You did it correctly, except remember that there is no space between the username and the : mark. If you don't put a space in between them, it will summon those people through their notifications so they know you talked to them. If you do it right it looks like this

laian :
StevenLanders : I am summoning you guys here in case you didn't see Cobraguy's replies to you.

Note that the user summon has to be the first thing in the line. If there is anything before it (including spaces), it will not work.

I have a question for you though. What is your favorite game to play for EACH system you own?

CobraGuy : I agree with you about magic tricks and the secret. Why does everybody want to know the secret, to break the magician's code? In my opinion, magic is the dream, the fantasy. Well that's all I wanted to know and tell you, sir, so if you want to ask me any questions, feel free to send me a private message

Welcome, CobraGuy. Let me see if I can help answer your question. By "frame" images, are you talking about the pictures that show up on peoples' profiles or the image in a person's layout like the Lucario on mine or seizure-inducing turntables on legacyme3's?

legacyme3 is right when he says we love seeing when someone has a lot to say. If you need help, feel free to contact us via private message. Hope you really enjoy yourself here.

rcarter2 : Thank you for the summon.

CobraGuy : Long games are always the best. It's not fun to me when you get a game and beat it in like the first few days. If you don't have Skyward Sword then you need to get it. It's awesome and a long game to me I finally beat the first dungeon. Now I'm collecting whatever items I can before I go to the next area. I'm hoping to 100% the game in one run.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know you could summon. I was simply replying. I'm not sure why the spaces ended up there, but I'll know for next time. As far as game systems go, I'll take some guesses which would probably change if I gave it more thought. Keep in mind I am speaking of playing directly with the game system, not an emulated version of the system, which limits my choices:

- Coin-op machines: SoulCalibur (the first of that title created after Soul Edge) for video games, but my overall preference are pinball
machines since they are not digital and difficult to replicate digitally with true accuracy.

- ATARI 2600: Defender or Joust
- ATARI 7800: Xenophobe
- ColecoVision: BurgerTime
- Neo Geo CD: The King of Fighters: Millennium Battle
- Sega Game Gear: Ninja Gaiden
- Sega Genesis: Sonic the Hedgehog
- Super Nintendo: Street Fighter 2: Hyper Fighting or Mortal Kombat 2
- Game Boy: Super Mario Land
- Nintendo: Metroid
- Nintendo 64: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Dreamcast: Super Magnetic Neo (only one I've played)
- PlayStation: Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
- PlayStation 2: Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
- Xbox: Dragon's Lair 3D: Return to the Lair
- Xbox 360: Batman: Arkham Asylum

- Ms. Pacman TV Plug-and-play system: Galaga
