Well, its not recent, but the Pokémon gold, silver and crystal both have this thing where if u speed up the game ( holding space ) it will save which makes it pause for a couple seconds, every maybe 5 seconds. Is there any way I can get rid of that? And are you guys having the same thing happen?

I've been having that problem as well but more often on the 2nd generation games here than the 1st. It occurs not only from place to place travel and a Pokemon cry, but on every single moment in battle and other events. I doubt there's an easy way out of the so-called 5-second saving, so it'll probably be either play through the pauses, play using Java, or just wait until something occurs.

Holding space bar tends to do this with the GBA games, and some of the GameBoy games. Just avoid hitting space bar. If you need the select button to play the game, just reassign it to a different key.
