Hello I use my computer in class, all hours I'm using my computer to work, but in the end of the day the battery is on a 30 % of energy, and I always use it until it run out of energy and then I connect it to power. But my question is, I do this all time, is the battery of my laptop going to waste quick? Should I use the laptop without battery and turning off in the end of the hour? ( I mean every time the class finish) I know the battery can support until 5000 charges, that's his use full life.
Please answer and thanks.

If you let the laptop battery run out fully, yes, the performance will decrease over time (and especially if you use it for long periods). But if you're running lots of programs at once (such as AIM, steam etc) the battery will run out faster because you're trying to run multiple things, which can also slow down the overall performance.
Disabling programs that are not in use like those will lead to a longer overall battery life.
Hope this helps.

When you are constantly using a battery, then it is true that it will not last as long. But you are doing the right thing in letting your battery get close to empty before plugging it in. The worst thing people do with their laptop batteries is leaving it plugged in all the time, even when it is at full charge. When it does that, energy is getting cycled through the battery all the time, which significantly reduces it's life. Batteries generally don't last half as long when put under that condition as batteries taken care of like you are doing. But don't plug in your computer without the battery. My fiance did that while she was waiting for a new battery to be delivered, and it drained the motherboard on her laptop. By the time her battery arrived, her laptop couldn't even turn on with the new battery in. It just couldn't use it, so she had to get another laptop. Doing what you are doing is the best thing you can do when you have to use it as much as you have to.

I have the same problem with my laptop, so I leave it charging the majority of the day. It's important not to let it OVER charge...this can damage the battery in time.

I would suggest turning off the laptop when you're not using it for a period of time, and adjusting the Power Saving options by double clicking the "battery icon" on the lower right side of the screen.

Laptops generally have a poor battery life to begin with, but in this case, you are doing the right thing by not keeping it plugged in.

I do that with my laptops out of habit and the charge has gotten worse over the year.

I think you should try what you suggest to see if it works.

All right I will keep on doing this. Thanks! By the way sometimes like once in a week, the ennergy runs out in class and I hace to connect it to continue working, but the time that it least it is for only like 20,25 minutes, then when the class if finished I disconnect it, that is wrong isn't it? But sould I do to keep on working but at the same time not hurting the battery?

septembern : Well this looks like it can be closed now as he has the last post and he pretty much says that it is all over. Other than that I have nothing else to say as far as the thread goes.

billythekidmonster : I think he asked a few questions in his last post

danseg- I mean, it is okay if you disconnect it between classes, but if you are going to be in the same spot for a white (45minutes+) then you might want to keep it plugged in.
