No. There have been classes that I have disliked, but I feel that if I actually listen to what the instructor is saying, I'll learn a little something. Heck, I won't really need this math course that I'm taking, however, I really enjoy it. It's gotten me to grasp mathematics better and I feel like it's gotten me to think more logically and see the world a little differently. I really love it.

Honestly, Study hall is a huge waste of time, but that doesn't count. Programming was a waste, because we diddled with BASIC a bit, and that was all. But I shouldn't have expected anything else. Otherwise, not really. Except every English class. I hate English.

Oh, indeed. Several of them, in fact.
My most recent class I withdrew from because of the fact it's wasting my time was Woodwork 12. I've experienced useless blocks such as resource class, where my Math teacher just simply use it for the extra Math studying, which seriously sucks. Broadcasting was a lame waste of time, considering I have no relation to media technology. It was an elective class, and it was 'required', but I fought the system and withdrew from that class. Woot. Really, they should let us choose our classes, and see what our preferences were. For example, I want my classes to be all academics, and not mainly fun such as Woodworking and Fine Arts, etc. That's just me, though. =P |

I've taken several classes that I found were a total waste of time.
One of them was Yearbook. I took it because I thought it would teach me organization. It was really more of a bunch of girls gossiping while I did a lot of work. It really wasn't a fun experience. |

I feel that my Civics class is a waste of time, we almost never do anything.
It's fun to just talk but it's also a boring 1:50 minutes. |

Yeah I had 1. It was supposed to be an applied tech class but I don't remember doing much of importance other than figuring out my net worth.

Gym was a waste because you could be doing math of history instead of getting sweaty.

Computer Architecture. Everything I was actually able to understand was just a rehash of Basic Digital Signal Processing and stuff I'd read for fun before I even entered college. It could have been a great class, and apparently is when the professor was anybody else, but the Turkish guy with a poor grasp of English and a disturbing habit of inventing words is not the best guy for the job. It's a multiplexer, not a multiplexicator- as he wrote on the slides- or "multiplicatexor", as he managed to pronounce. And let's not even get started on how "amplifying the charge on the capacitor" somehow got melded into "amplifyingacitor" in a Powerpoint slide.
It's the only class I ever got an Incomplete in, since I couldn't understand it well enough to finish the final. Thank everything I got the flu and had an excuse to not finish it. I finally got together something basically nonfunctional, an ineffective and incorrect simulation of a malfunctioning processor in VHDL, and he gave me a B. Which was good enough, in the circumstances, but also the only non-A grade directly in my major program. |

Geometry, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry. I just feel it's a big complete waste of time to me and that I'm never going to need it to succeed in life.

I thought a lot of classes I had to take in High School were useless when I was a kid. I mean if it's not something that you are going to likely use in real life, what's the point of being forced to learn it? I understand things like English and Math/science. I'm a little different now that I'm older, but I think that schools in general could do a better job of getting kids ready for the real world.

Jordanv78 :
I couldn't agree more. They should spend like the first two years giving you general education courses, and then use a guidance counselor to help you decide what you think you're going to major in. Then you have to take courses geared towards that major. I guess the only problem that may arise is if you decide to switch majors, you'll be even less prepared than you would have been otherwise. But I will say this outright - requiring foreign language classes in high school is a joke. Anyway, to answer the question for myself, I'd say yes. In fact, I currently take classes that I think are a waste of time. But those classes are probably gonna help save my GPA from my math class this semester. One thing that sucks about college, though, is that the courses unrelated to my major that I want to take just to learn in are often only available to certain majors or people with specific minors. Ah well. |

No, but my parents think that taking foods is a waste. My sister thinks taking spanish is a waste. And others around me think that taking 4 years of math and science is a waste. Its unnecessary but I will do it anyways because those except math and science are the fun classes.
