In February of 2008, Sylvester Stallone stated that if the fourth Rambo film was successful at the box office he would consider making a fifth Rambo film.   In May of 2010, Stallone said he is done with the Rambo franchise and he wants to focus on making The Expendables 2.

I enjoyed The Expendables.  It was exactly what I expected to see(lots of action and killing).  I would like to see an Expendables sequel.  I am however pretty bummed about Stallone not making another Rambo film.  The 2008 Rambo movie made $113,224,290 at the box office on a $50 million dollar budget.  To me, that seems like a box office success.  So there must be a market for this kind of movie.

I know Stallone is getting old(65 years old) and the action movies are probably taking a toll on him but if he can do another Expendables movie, then he can fight through another Rambo.

Should Stallone Make another Rambo?  Should he even make any action movies period?  What do you think?

Nope I am not bummed. I do not wish to see much more Rambo. I am sure that they will reboot the series in about 3 years anyway. I thought that the last one was sub par.

First of all I knew Sylvester was an older man...but 65!?!? He certainly looks GREAT for his age!

Personally, I've never been a fan of Rambo or any type of Jungle movie (if that's what it is.) So I wouldn't mind if he did or didn't make another Rambo movie to add to the series. Could you explain to me since I've never taken the time to watch it myself, what the plot of Rambo is? To me, it looks like a jungle survival type movie, maybe I'm wrong.

As far as Sylvester making MORE action movies...I'm all for it! I was greatly impressed with The Expendables and I intend on seeing the new upcoming one! Sylvester Stallone is built to make action movies! I just can't see him making a love or kids movie , so yes I'd like to see more of him on the big screen starring in Action packed films!

YourMajestyKen :   The first Rambo movie was Called First Blood part 1.  The Movie took place in a small town and in the forests in a town called Hope in Canada.  John Rambo, a US veteran from the Vietnam war
returns to America and discovers that for him
nothing is as it used to be before the war. On a
trip in search of an army buddy he discovers
trouble with a small town sheriff. Rambo is
originally hassled by the sheriff and arrested on
bogus charges of vagrancy. While in jail he is
being cleaned up. Several of the guards tease him
as they shave him. They joke of his throat
getting slit if he isn't careful. This brings
back memories of a POW camp in Vietnam for John
Rambo. He acts instinctively, overpowers all the
guards and escapes for the mountains. A massive
manhunt for Rambo begins as the sheriff leads a
seeming crusade against Rambo. Rambo when pushed,
pushes back. He is a one man army that defends
against the sheriff and his deputies as well as
the national guard. In the climax of the film
Rambo shoots up the town and roams the streets as
fires of destruction light up the night. Rambo is
ultimately surrounded while holding up in a gun
store. He reluctantly surrenders after a talk
with his former commander in Vietnam, Colonel
Trautman. The man that was in charge of multi
million dollar machines in Vietnam could not even
hold down a steady job in America after the war.
This thought burns in his mind as he surrenders.

First Blood Part 2 was a jungle movie that took place in Vietnam.  Rambo rescues forgotten POW's.  In Rambo 3, Rambo goes to Afghanistan to save his friend Colonel Trautman who's been captured by the  invading Russians.  Rambo 4 is about a group of missionaries trying to bring medical aid to victims of the war in Burma.  the Missionaries get caught by the Burma military and Rambo and a few mercenaries save the captives.

thenumberone : I don't know if it's been a while since you've seen First Blood and you
don't really remember it, but Rambo
only killed one officer and no
military.  The officer he killed was unintentional.  As for realism, I'm
sure that a highly skilled
ex Green Beret could give a couple of small
town cops a hard time.   Also, Some of the soldiers returning from
Vietnam were met with some criticism. He believed he was fighting for
his country, risking his life and when he
got home people were spitting
at him and calling him a baby killer.   And Rambo suffers from post
traumatic war
syndrome, which is why he snaps so easily.  He can't
function in society anymore because humanity has been
 beaten out of him
and he's become a fighting/survival machine.  If your referring to First
Blood part 2,
then yes... a pretty unrealistic movie to me too, but
still fun and entertaining.  He should have been shot
 a couple hundred
times and been dead, dead, dead in that movie.  Same in Rambo 3, But
again, a decent
action flick in my opinion.  My point with this thread
was that if a franchise is still raking in lots of money at the
 box
office, then I don't see why Stallone would turn his back on his fan
base when there's still a market for his
 product, especially when he's
still making movies in the genre.  I respect  your opinion never the
less.  To each his own.

thenumberone : Well, what actually happened was that Rambo didn't bring down the helicopter at all.  Actually, he was being shot at by a renegade officer who was ignoring orders over the radio from his superior officer to stand down.  Rambo picked up a river rock and threw it at the helicopter, hitting the windshield.  The helicopter pilot panicked and jerked the helicopter violently to the side, causing the trigger happy officer to lost his balance and fall to his death.

John McClane vs John Rambo

Hollywood should do it and it must be in a city not a dam jungle, sick of the jungles.

Nah. 4 Rambos is honestly enough. After a while you have to move on before you destroy a beloved franchise. Stallone realizes this, and moved on to the Expendables.

I'm looking forward to a The Expendables 2. =)

You are not alone, I'm also very saddened by his decision. But you have to think on the logical side, he doesn't really have it in him anymore. Not saying that he doesn't have any spirit, he's probably got plenty of that. The Rambo series is done, it kind of went downhill with Rambo III. Rambo 4 kind of brought  it back, but I don't think it was enough for Sylvester Stallone. The Rambo series had a good run, but it just doesn't have what it used to have, a good story. So Sylvester Stallone has moved on to try new things, like The Expendables. It's not a matter of age, Sylvester Stallone will be doing action movies forever. But he's left his Rambo movies behind, and it's a good thing for to be able to enjoy them. Rambo will live forever in the hearts of his fans and other Vietnam veterans. Plus I can't wait for The Expendables 2!

Nope, I'm not bummed out at all. I enjoyed the Rambo movies we have now, and I really did like the 2008 one. I just don't think that they could make another Rambo film without butchering the series in some way.

But what I do know is that I just have to see The Expendables sooner or later. >.>
