Okay so now one of my friends sister has a crush on me Which is new to me and my friend keeps making trying to well have a date with her which again is new to me and i just don't know what to say i like her as a friend yeah but i don't know if i like her that much and now I've been avoiding them and i just feel like a jerk i need some real advise

I think you should just be honest. Tell her, gently, that you like her as a friend and you don't really know if it could move beyond that. Your friend really shouldn't be trying to set you two up when he knows you don't share her crush, so ask him to stop and just respect your wishes. If you really want to appease them, you could try going on one date with her to see if there is any chemistry, but that is totally up to you.

I personally think you should give the girl a chance. You might find that if you spend a bit of time with her that you'll like her more than you used to.

And maybe you won't.... but at least you've given her the chance. A date or 2, under the right circumstances, might be the best thing for both of you.

Both Geeogree and Elara gave good advice. Just be nice, and don't avoid the situation. Either let her know that you just don't know if you feel that way for her, or go on a date or two. But if you decide to go on a date, don't give the impression it is because you feel the same way, or it can lead to a misunderstanding, which will be bad in the end. Just be honest, but considerate of how you say it.

Why are you suddenly so shy? Does this mean you do like her?

It's up to you, really. =| You can either just give it a shot or let her down gently. But whatever you do, do not just avoid the situation. It'll only make it worse.

If it were me though, I'd just give her a chance. Who knows? After a date or two, you might wind up seeing her in a whole new light. That's happened to me a couple times. 

And I too am curious: Why are you suddenly shy around her?

DARKANINE : That doesn’t seem too awkward at all. It is actually pretty normal if you’re friends with someone who has siblings to feel a connection and or, that friend tries to set you up with their sibling. It is totally normal that you feel the way you do but I would just go to a movie and see where it goes. You’re young so it’s not like you’re going in for a serious relationship or anything like that or, at least you shouldn’t at your age.


Another reason why your friend may be trying to set you up is because often when it comes to a brother and sister, no matter how much you may fight and bicker with your brother or sister more often then not they are protective of each other as they should be. Especially in regard to a brother.

I myself am the youngest of four in my family and I have three sisters and although they vary in age differences in relation to me I am extremely protective of and worry about them endlessly. Perhaps your friend other than thinking that you two may have a lot in common and might hit it off, may feel that he can trust you with his sister more than another guy who he does not know very well.


Like I said if I were you , I would just go to a movie and see how it goes and if it goes well go from there. You got nothing to lose kid.

I can recall being in this situation actually, it was about 12 years ago... so let me see if I can remember what happened. I had this group of friends - too many to know the number, but I'd imagine somewhere around 75 (yeah we were a large group - that's another subject), but there was this girl that I was close friends with for over a year and some other friends told me that she was shy to tell me how she felt...

Anyways, I kinda at the time didn't want to confront her about it because I felt awkward that she didn't tell me herself. I just told them to tell her I didn't see her that way (plain and simple, because I didn't know how else to put it) her and I were still good friends for a while afterward, so that was good...

DARKANINE : Just tell her that you're flattered but you just think of her as a friend. If you're gentle with her, I am sure she will understand.

Where pretty just friends now...though it still kinda feels weird

The weirdness will fade in awhile, don't worry. I'm glad that you got it all worked out and you don't have to avoid them anymore.
