It always freaked me out as a kid. I covered my eyes whenever it came on. Nowadays, it STILL creeps me out, but I love it. Haha. =P

I kinda wish that the remake would've tried doing something like this. Tim Burton would've had a field day with this.

I'm gonna quote Nostalgia Critic by calling this scene in the movie a 'Mind F**k' moment.  Seriously, this scene is so creepy and out of place, but at the same time it is hilariously funny.  The look on the people's faces when they are sitting on the boat is absolutely priceless.

Oh boy. Picture it. Parents watch the first half hour of the movie with their kids just to make sure that it is going to be okay for them to watch. Then they decide it's okay, get up to go to the other room, and turn off the lights so their kids can see better. Then.......There's no earthly way of knowing......which direction we are going. I love the Boat Scene! It was my favorite moment of the entire film from the first time I ever saw it (yeah, I'm kinda odd that way).

As a result, Marilyn Manson's first album, Portrait of an American Family has a special place in my heart. The intro track is the song from the Boat Scene, and the video for "Dope Hat" is an entire recreation of the scene, expanded to be set to the song.

When they announced Tim Burton was doing a remake of the film, I had hoped against hope that he'd get Manson to do the role... but no such luck. I still haven't seen the remake.

This boat thing creeped me out as a child. I had practically no idea what the heck was going on and the colors that were whizzing around and Wonka shouting and weird images just gave me a bad image of the movie overall.

This scene still creeps me out to this day. Though not as bad, but I don't like it. >w<

Um how is the boat scene is actually creepy?I never thought it was creepy i thought they was doing a similar ride of  Disney when i was a kid cause i  been on a ride that was like that then so when i saw the film i thought "oh lookey lookey they  did a ride off a disneyland ride, awesome!"

And back in 2004 this film was  on most 200 scariest movie moments it was aired on AMC so i guest so since kids die in the film  but i wasnt scared of watching the film at all
