Taito is the founder of this platforming game. Taito is a Japanese publisher of video games software who is own today by the publisher of Square Enix. The corporation was founded in 1953 by a businessman named Michael Kogan. Taito started out as a vending machine company, later began selling out jukeboxes, and ultimately established to manufacture on their own. Taito presented their first video arcade game in 1973. In 1978, Toshihiro Nishikado, a designer working for Taito, invented Space Invaders which became the most memorable games in the arcade history. In 1979, because of the huge success of Space Invaders, Taito opened an American version of the Taito Corporation so they can release games in North America. The corporation was located in Illinois and was handling the arcade sector of the company in North America.

Taito has had a big authority on the course of video game years ago and going on today, developing some innovative games. Space Invaders is the most notable, but games such as Qix, Jungle Hunt, Elevator Action, Puzznic, and Operation Wolf. Some licensed games from the company of Hanna-Barbara are The Flintstones and The Jetsons.

Taito also made a unique and innovative game called Bubble Bobble. In 1988, Bubble Bobble was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America. Bubble Bobble is about two dinosaurs, I think, named Bob and Bub, as you can see by the title cover, who traveled into a mysterious and most magical cave while monsters are trying to attack them. They were once human and when they stepped into the cave they were turned into dinosaurs, oddly enough.

In the game, each level is a single stage. The enemies you are to face are wizards, wind-up toys, globs with mouths that bounces all over the place, and so many more. You get items that you use along the ways such as umbrellas, lightning bubbles, shoes, and water bubbles. Your main weapon is bubbles. Bubbles? Why not a gun? Or fireballs or something? Anyway the dinosaurs throw bubbles and you got to make the enemies get trapped in them so you can pop them and they die, which is weird of how enemies die in a bubble, by bouncing all over the place and turning into a tomato or a green pepper, I imagine. An enemy turns pink when it is the last enemy remaining. There is a time limit in this game; if you take too long to kill every enemy on a level, a skull will appear, named Baron Von Blubba, and come to destroy the dinosaur. I have no idea of how many levels are, but I’m pretty sure that there is about a hundred.

Bubble Bobble is great for its game play because of its graphics and stages. The graphics are notable because they never use the same background over and over again and instead do a pattern. The stages are wonderful in this game. I haven’t noticed until now that there was a picture symbolizing the stage. I couldn't’t see it because of the color in the background. The part of the game that should be improved is the music soundtrack. It loops and loops on every stage. I don’t find it really attracting, but it is still good though.

I would say that Bubble Bobble is a great and medium addictive game. The game designers are creative with the designs for each level. What I find weird about this game is the objects that appear randomly; it is so weird. Some items are wine glasses, cake, crystals, and different-colored jewelry. I found one disturbing thing. When he grabs a lightning bubble the lightning comes out of its tail or somewhere like that. In conclusion, it is a long game. It takes minutes to hours playing this game; good thing there is a password system. Even though the game is astonishing, this will hold a game that I will always remember for the rest of my life.
