Either the parents did something or the girl escaped the house or just walked out the front door with them knowing. She might not wonder off alone but if she was meeting someone she would probably go.

As for Facebook, the article mentions nothing about it. However they can probably get sued for letting a 11 year old register and then getting potentially murdered from one of there connections.

Facebook says "No information from children under age 13. If you are under age 13, please do not attempt to register for Facebook or provide any personal information about yourself to us. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible."

But she is 11 and she is on facebook and facebook failed to their end of the agreement (which is to delete and remove anything from anyone under the age of 13). Sure she should not have registered in first place but facebook can technically get in trouble for this. And what if they were to delete her information... there goes all the evidence lol.

Wow that's just awful. They said the police were searching her computer for any records hopefully it can help.

Like JigSaw said she might have just decided to go away or was dissapointed at something. But they also said she was a quiet girl who would never do that.

And having a facebook page that underage is a bit irresponsible. I mean i'm uderaged too but i'm a little older and i'm responsible because I only add people I know. She might have chatted with someone unknown and ran off. It happens a lot more than people think it does

JigSaw : Yeah that particular article doesn't mention the facebook thing but I was doing some research last night and other articles mention that she has a facebook page and I even found the step-father's facebook profile.

And I even found some articles on google that the father has schizophrenia. So I don't really know what to think about this case. I'm going to try to keep updated on this story. I hope they find her alive and well.

Stories like this are horrible and as a parent it must make you an ounce more protective over you're kids. I hope this story can be salvaged for a happy ending. And Facebook for an 11 year old. That's just plain dumb.

Yeah, it's scary to know that at any given time someone can just vanish like that!

You would think with all the cases of endangered and missing children parents would be more cautious and observant of what their kids do. When I was a kid I was always monitored by my Mom for my own safety.

DARKANINE : Yeah, but I read on one of the news articles that there were older guys telling her she looks hot in her facebook photo's. And for all we know if it was someone outside of the family, they could've used software to trace where she lives. I'm completely baffled by this case. I have a feeling it was someone on the internet or someone in the family that caused her disappearance. I'll be shocked if she left on her own.

UPDATE:
Her body was found today in the Connecticut river. Makes me wonder if someone in her family did it.

Earths really going downhill atm :/ theres so many disaperances and murders and its all depressing. I know the world cant be perfect and every now and again a parent who dosent monitor their children correctly will come about or an unruly teen or youngster thinks their invincible and decides to take thing into their own hands but now we've all evolved into intelligent beings with a lot of education and resources on our side sureley we can overcome all of this.

This comment might make no sense but in the past 30 mins ive just been reading through a load of distressing articles from rape to murder to missing children and riots and im honestly sick of it atm. I dont think we're getting any closer to a eutopia i think we're slowly edging away

I think its arlight for an 11 year old girl to have facebook only if she adds the people she only knows if she adds strangers it can be pretty serious. My cousin is only 8 years old and my uncle/aunt let him have a facebook. I thought It was weird since he is too young, but his parents were alright with it

My brother had to do a project in college: Find a pedophile, get enough information to know where he lives, and send the information to the police.


He posed as a 12 year old girl on an IRC chat, and he was getting spammed PMs from really creepy men all over the place within 5 minutes of logging in. It was absolutely sick. Just a random IRC chatroom had that many pedophiles in it.

Definitely a mystery. I haven't heard a more bazaar story than this one. Being in a bedroom one moment and leaving without a trace, I smell witchcraft. But in seriousness, I got no idea how there can be zero evidence on this. Its a mystery indeed.

This is just scary, sounds like something out of a horror movie. I don't think she would of walked out into the night by her own accord at 11 years old I think I was still scared of the dark at that time. I think the parents should be interrogated further all seems a bit fishy to me.

If the girl's father was schizophrenic then there is one theory that could be valid:

She could have had the schizophrenia passed down to her by her father.  Now sometimes schizophrenia doesn't show any outward warning signs.  Sometimes, a person can seem okay one day, and then start hearing voices and acting strangely the next day.  It's possible that the 11-year-old had a psychotic break and began to hear voices that told her to leave her home.  Some schizophrenics, especially young children, are unable to resist what the voices are telling them.

If her leaving the house alone was strange behavior then this is entirely possible.  And you mentioned that her body was found in a river. She may have simply fallen in the river and drowned while following the voices she was hearing.

Well in that case, it is entirely possible that her step-father had something to do with her death. As I mentioned, schizophrenics can have random psychotic breaks with no warning, and some of them can't resist the voices.

I mean, he was the "last person to see her" before she disappeared. Just doesn't make any sense, and since there was no evidence of forced entry, it had to be someone in that household or at least someone she knew.
