The last movie I saw was Aliens. Sling has a free Cinemax promotion going on for a limited time, and that movie happened to be on a few hours ago, I had been wanting to see that movie for awhile, so I took advantage.

Last night, I watched a film called Sonatine. I was led to this movie from a song post by Yuna1000: in the 'What Are You Listening' to thread, Summer by Joe Hisaishi. I really enjoyed the style of the song and decided to look into Joe Hisaishi a bit more, and found this movie. And I'm really glad for it because it was great. I will very likely be checking out other work from this director, Takeshi Kitano.
This is a film that revolves around the Yakuza, and seems to take place in (then 1993) present time. It follows a particular character, Mr.Murakawa, as he is sent with some of his brothers to Okinawa to discuss a peace treaty with another clan. However, the reason these 2 clans are at war is not sufficient in most members eyes, and is based on some local isolated local dispute, prompting suspicion from Mr.Murakawa.

Anywho, it's really good. Some of the scenes are so well filmed, I was actually surprised. I don't even know why, but I was. There's a couple of scenes I won't mention for risk of "spoiling", as it were, but there is really something that stands out to me in the way this movie is filmed in many scenes. I'd highly recommend the film to people with an interest in the subject matter, and even others who like excellent shots and wonderful accompanying music.

The last movie I saw was last night when I went to a screening of Atomic Blonde. It was really intense and the final 10 or so minutes really blew my mind. Plus one of my 3 most favorite actresses was in it, so yey.

Got through seeing A Dog's Purpose. It was such a wonderful movie as we see a dog living similar to cat by having many lives except it does it literally.

I saw Spider-man: Homecoming again with some friends. It was their first time seeing it, and I forced them to stay all the way until the 2nd post credits scene to see how they would react to it.

So, last night I watched HANA-BI. It is purely amazing. It has many of the same qualities that left me awestruck in Sonatine, but even stronger! After a bit of research, I'm realizing who Takeshi Kitano is. He seems to be incredibly popular, and must be, because even I have seen/heard of him (although nameless till now) in the past. Anywho, HANA-BI (and Sonatine) has this incredible atmosphere or ambiance to it, or something I lack words to describe. It's that certain je ne sais quoi as they say. I think it's the incredible use of silence, stillness, serenity that gets broken in short moments of intensity and sound.

But really, the grace of this movie is incredible. If I had to pick a bone with it, it's only that the immaculate silence does not make up the entirety of the film, and it does have scenes of grounded dialog and camera movement. But I don't lol. It's suuuuuuuuper good. I realize I did not describe the movie, but it's probably better that way, I'd rather just express my feelings about this one.

A week and a half ago at my friend Derek's house, we watched Bruce Almighty. That was very fun to watch and even though I didn't get to see the end, I like the lessons I was seeing in it.

Plus I will never see the news the same way again

Death Scenes 3, I absolutely should not be watching these films because how disturbing they are. I'm always curious and take the risk anyway lol.

I saw a bunch of movies for the first time over the course of Sunday and Monday at my friends house. They were The Great Wall, Max, Curse of the Black Pearl, and Hidden Figures.

I really liked them all and thought that Max was so adorable.

I watched The Houses October Built 2 which is the sequel to the movie by the same name.

It is basically a horror movie based around going to see haunted house attractions during Halloween and then hi jinx ensue while they are there (again ).

It was pretty good honestly. There were a couple of style choices that I didn't like but overall it had a good amount of tension built through the movie and the twist at the end (which wasn't a huge twist) was pretty good. Also, some stuff was left unexplained which was kind of nice.

Not really worth paying for but if you want something scary to watch while doing something else this movie serves that purpose.

The last movie I saw was Suicide Squad. I hadn't seen it when it came out, and after having watched it, I'm glad I didn't. The movie wasn't awful, but I really didn't like any of the characters all that much, and I thought that the Joker would play a larger role than he actually did. Since they are more than likely doing a sequel with the way things ended, I really hope the sequel turns out better.

The last movie I've seen was probably Deadpool. I don't really go to the movies that often, let alone see anything really catching my interest as of late. I think the Deadpool movie was pretty good for the style that Deadpool had in the comics. I honestly am excited for Deadpool 2 coming soon.

The last movie that I saw was American Made, saw it the day it came out and I really like it. Throughout the movie I was really curious as to whether or not the events really happened so I had to spend the rest of the day looking up the facts.
